About this property

South Rosedale Cottage and Retreat

From the generous deck of this 3 bedroom cottage you can gaze out onto the lagoon at the bottom of the garden, listen to the waves breaking on the nearby beach, or step down to the water-side deck. You can read, watch the native ducks swim past, ponder meandering fish, or just drift off.

The Cottage is a renovated traditional Australian beach retreat with all new appliances, a bushland setting and close to the beautiful Rosedale sands.

Note however that the lagoon is not fenced from the backyard and small children need to be supervised at all times.

Located in Rosedale Parade the Cottage is quiet and sleeps 6 adults and additional children (up to 2) may sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge room.

We are pet friendly with a dog house supplied. We reiterate that the back garden is fenced from the street but not from the lagoon.

It's just a 2-minute level stroll to stunning South Rosedale beach. Great for a swim, a lazy read on the beach, or a bit of beach or rock fishing. Kayaking is possible on the Tomaga River at Mossy Point a few kilometres south.

The main bedroom has a queen bed, the front bedroom has a double, and the middle bedroom has two single beds. There is a sofa in the lounge suitable for a child or two younger children. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the house includes a dishwasher, Miele washer/dryer, NBN fibre to the house and a new TV.

Was a wonderful stay however, BBQ was unusable, floors were uneven, no safety in backyard to stop children falling into water, internet didnt work had to use own mobile data, toaster faulty.

Close to beach

Short walk to beach (pet friendly depending on time of year and hours) . Well stocked kitchen, bed comfy. Cleanliness of kitchen, bathroom and bed good however needs a thorough clean, cobwebs, mould on ceiling in loungeroom , messy out on deck. Biggest downfall for me was no free tv. You need to stream through a device and wifi often cut out. Overall a nice place to stay.

Awesome stay

We had a fabulous stay at South Rosedale Cottage. Very close to the beach, pet friendly (for our dogs), clean, and had everything we needed. Alan was very helpful before and during our stay. Would absolutely recommend to other guests and would love to stay again.

Nice little property in a great location

The house is easy to find and backs onto the creek. It is a short walk to Rosedale beach, which is pet-friendly. The house is well-enough equipped, although it could do with a good clean and being aired out more frequently.

Unfortunately it was very unclean there was mould on the ceilings in the lounge and bedroom it smelt dirty and very musty no tv could not get anything. Only good things was a 1 minute walk to beach and nice outdoor area

Could be nice if looked after, shame about the mould.

The place was pretty filthy, doesn't get cleaned thoroughly after each guest. The property has a serious black mould problem. Garden is a mess and overgrown. Location is good only meters from the beach.

Great well equipped little cottage

The cottage was well equipped. Kitchen was great, which is what I needed. The only drawback was that the back yard was not fully fenced. It is open to the creek at the rear of the property. Definitely no good for a puppy, which we had planned on taking with us. Fortunately, this was made clear in the communication from the owner about 2 weeks prior to our stay. We could then organise dog sitting for our pup.

What is advertised is not what's delivered.

Great location & outside deck and the owner was easily contactable. These are the only positives I can state.Advised two weeks prior to check in that we need to take our own linen or use what is there, however wash & dry it prior to check out, this is not shown in advertisement.Also advised that TV does not work due to location. Suggested that we bring a laptop or something to hook up and stream our TV shows via that onto the TV. Again, not advertised in the Stayz Ad. Had these been so I would not have booked. Further to this I contacted owner at two weeks prior to ask about a refund, was advised that cancellation needs to be two months prior. What a joke that is.Upon arrival the place was clean and looked nice inside. However, no storage was available for longer stays as all cupboards were stacked with linen for the place. Also the back yard was so overgrown that it would have been impossible to clean up after our dog had she done any business there, thankfully she didn't. The coffee etc there looked stale and no milk was placed into the fridge for a least a drink upon arrival.I sat on the lounge and chair which were very uncomfortable for any extended period of time.We would not book this place again and I am unlikely to use Stayz again as the advertisement didn't really match the accommodation.

It was ok

We expected bed to be made up, but found only a mattress protector and doona on the main bed. Found sheets but they were double size for a queen size bed. Floors could be a lot cleaner. Toilet half flush did not work. However it was warm inside.

Needs some attention

Basic cottage - Interior reasonably clean and tidy.Outside uninviting due to leaf litter.No TV unless you bring your own laptop to connect.Only one half of the toaster works.The outside of the property needs a tidy up - leaf litter etc

Modest cottage with nice decks

While we enjoyed our time at this modest cottage with its nice decks front and back, the property wasn't as clean as it should have been (sandy floor, decks covered with leaves). Needs some maintenance too; eg towel rail not screwed in properly, and the key to the front door was bent 15 degrees.

Lovely stay

The location is brilliant, 2 minute walk to the beach. Very comfortable cottage with a great holiday vibe. Best you bring some DVDs you have been meaning to watch as there is no televisual options! (or just read a book!)

It's a small hamlet, very quiet with a great beach. The Cottage has a great atmosphere and is a perfect treat. Snorkelling is next door at Guerrilla Bay and kayaking is down at Mossy Beach. The kids love Mogo zoo.
