Welcome to “The Sage Way' farm! A long tree lined private driveway leads to 25 acres of absolute heaven – in the heart of Frederick County! Historic farmhouse, barn and outbuildings were originally built in 1870 with additions and renovations during the past 25 years. A natural spring fed pond and visiting geese! Conveniently situated on Frederick's Route 40 Alternate, one minute off I-70, and less than10 minutes from historic downtown Frederick. Secluded and quiet – yet, practically next door from golf, shopping, restaurants, antiquing, hiking, biking and lots more.
Enjoy all the charm and attractions of Frederick, or venture to nearby sites from the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War in four states and the District of Columbia (an easy drive). Nature is in the yard and sweeps up into the Blue Ridge Mountains.
30 minutes from Baltimore, 45 to Washington DC and Gettysburg, and only 20 minutes to the Grotto or Hagerstown & Clarksburg Outlets.

A perfect place for retreats, events, reunions and celebrations. This lovely vacation home sleeps 16 comfortably. Three kitchens, five bathrooms, pantry, linen closet, laundry, game room, large eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, elegant sitting room, two master suites, media room, and much more. Sit on the front porch or any patio or balcony, watch the geese and ducks swim in the pond, stroll around the green fields or long driveway, explore the huge historic barn - it is all so beautiful! The farmhouse was perfect for my family and friends attending my grandson's wedding. The only glitch was that we lost water. The owner was able to have the problem repaired.

Everything was exactly as it was described on the VRBO site. We had a large gathering to celebrate my daughters upcoming wedding and it was a perfect venue. All 16 people had bed space and plenty of room in the house. Absolutely loved the house and the property.

Property was as described and pictures were accurate. Plenty of room and space inside and out for a large group of adults and animals. The decor is a little dated and worse for wear and it’s definitely not a new house. But the pictures and description accurately represent the house. Host was very communicative and helpful. Great location near Frederick but removed enough to have privacy. Some of the instructions in the welcome binder were contradictory and it could probably use some updating.

Great place for retreats!

We had an amazing stay! We used the house for a church retreat and it was exactly what we needed. Plenty of space, beautiful property, and very warm and helpful property owner. We would definitely stay here again!

Spacious House, great for group

Wonderful, large house, perfect for our men's golf outing needs. Close to courses, great dining and activities. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy, nice outside area as well. Sleeping arrangements worked really well for 7 men. Great communication with owner, he was nice enough to allow us to check in early so we could make our tee times. Would definitely recommend!!

Soccer trip

The property was awesome set up for 4 families and teen boys on a soccer trip for MLS Next Fest near by. The home is very spacious accommodating for everyone’s privacy. Perfect, would definitely stay there again if we are back in the area!!

Burns Family Stay at Sage Way Farm

Our stay at Sage Way Farm was wonderful. The property is lovely and very well kept. We hosted a Rehearsal Dinner prior to our son's wedding and everyone was very happy with the setting. We would love to stay there again and make it a family tradition.

Excellent Accommodations for Family Wedding

The owner was terrific, allowing us to checkin early to accommodate the early arrivals of family members from out of town. Our daughter was married here in Maryland and we had 18 family members stay at the Sage Way Farm. The location was very convenient and my family members found the farm relaxing. We hope to stay at the Sage Way Farm again for our next event. A big Thank You to Renu the owner!

Annual Maryland Trip

We could not have chosen a better location and place to stay for our annual Maryland trip over Labor Day weekend. It was our 20th anniversary of the trip and this property made it that much better! Our consensus is that this will be where we stay for as long as the property is available. It was more than we could have asked for and imagined! Everything was well kept and maintained, and it was like walking into home!

My Stay At Sage Way

The property was as described. We had our family Thanksgiving there. There were 8 people that stayed and 9 others came but didn't stay. The house did not feel crowded at all. Every question I had was answered very quickly. I would recommend this location.

Roomy and great location

The home was large and clean. The furniture was dated but comfortable and enough seats for our party of 12. We didn’t Know where one of the 3 thermostats was. after informing us he also made a trip over to make sure we found it and were warm. This would be a great home for families or a group of woman like us.

Family friendly and a great location

We were looking for a weekend hotel alternative for our extended family where we could all be together. The property is close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough off the road and spacious enough to accommodate a peaceful weekend with your loved ones. We had folks ages 5months to 70+ in age, and everyone felt comfortable! The owners were experiencing some plumbing issues, but worked hard and had everything ready to go for us. Water pressure was an issue in the showers, but I have a feeling that was related to what was going on in the minutes before our arrival, and I'm sure the owners will work to resolve even that small inconvenience before other guests arrive! We are so thankful for the owners for sharing this location with us, and will consider it as an option in the years to come!

Lovely spacious home on beautiful grounds!

We spent Thanksgiving week enjoying this lovely spotless property. There was plenty of room for our group of 15 ... and ample bakeware and dishes to prepare the meal (only needed to bring items specifically needed for my baking addiction like a stand mixer, super large mixing bowl, and extra cooling racks). The owner was very helpful in providing anything we requested (like a second high chair and extra tables and chairs). Two ovens in main kitchen and an extra fridge provided space to cook and store a holiday meal. There were games to enjoy and several TV’s for entertainment ... and the property is lovely, with picnic tables and grill for better weather. Some in our party enjoyed visiting Frederick and remarked it was a lovely historic town..: others visited friends who lived in DC, so the property is well situated. I personally enjoyed the views from the West Wing ... such lovely sunrises! WiFi worked well and it is always nice to have a washer and dryer on vacation. The only drawback we found was the property used well water which has a metallic taste and though it was fine for cooking and bathing, we preferred to drink bottled water. The grocery store is very close so it was easy to run to the store for anything needed. With beds for 16 and 5 bathrooms it was the perfect place for a large group

Family gathering

I have to agree with another recent review…this house was spacious and full of potential. We were a group of 12 with plenty of room to either gather together or stay out of each other’s way. The main level kitchen was well stocked, but nothing in the second kitchen downstairs. Peaceful location, if you don’t mind traffic noise from 70 in the background. The house really needs a good deep cleaning- wish I had brought flip flops to walk around inside. My white socks are now black on the bottom. There were cobwebs and dead bugs in many locations. The basement “in law suite” has mold in multiple locations. On our last day, a massive swarm of bugs emerged from under the stone patio. Communication from the owner was fine until we arrived. On day one, I called to report a low battery in a smoke detector, which was chirping. Never heard back from anyone, and there was a second smoke detector that was missing altogether. The response to the bug situation was basically, “Sorry that happened”. Finally, internet connection had some issues, impacting ability of one parent to monitor their child’s blood sugars. Sorry to say I would not stay at this property again.

Exterminator and Good Cleaning Needed

We immediately had the heebie-jeebies due to the uncleanliness and disrepair of the home. We had no choice but to stay because of the size of the group. The walls and baseboards are filthy (drink splatters, handprints, years of dust) and lots of nicks and mars. I started taking pictures because I didn’t want to be blamed but there were so many, I gave up. We were constantly killing earwigs, stink bugs, and other bugs. They were even on the bed! The carpets were vaccuumed and hard floors sweep but clearly not mopped well. The house is not well maintained with peeling wallpaper. There was a place where the peeling wallpaper was taped and a bug was trapped under the tape. A comment from about a month ago states that they have started renovations and none of us could see that there was any evidence of that. The fencing is all falling down and rotting. There is a lovely outdoor area however the chairs are so dirty that we didn’t want to use them. I find it odd that all the property rules aren’t listed on the property site. You get those once booked. In those rules you can’t put the air above 78!!! On the thermostat there is a note not to put the thermostat for air below 75. It was incredibly hot in the house which made it difficult to sleep even using the fans provided. On the positive side, we arrived early and we were allowed to enter the property. The kitchen refrigerator wasn’t working but remedied in a few hours & we got a great rate for an extra night.
