50 steps to the Ocean! Great Maui Location!

Thank you for looking at our listing! Our ground floor condo has 1 bedroom 1 bathroom and a sleeper sofa. Sleeps 4. Condo complex is oceanfront. (50 steps from our condo entrance)!!! Large enclosed private patio! This unit is immaculate and pride of ownership is evident throughout. Maalaea village is a gem with its central location and its fantastic trade winds. It provides a cooling breeze that keeps the temperatures just right.

Beautifully landscaped grounds with a pool and BBQ. Any stress you have will melt away. Slip into the pool and enjoy the ocean view while you relax in the Maui sun.

Perfect central location to go explore the island! Or take a day to just relax to catch a glimps of green sea turtles rolling in the surf or bobbing up for air, even sunning themselves on the beach. In the winter months (Nov-April) you will have a front row seat to breaching whales as they come back to the islands to give birth, nurse, and play with their young!

At the end of our cul-de-sac is Sugar Beach, a 1-2 minute walk from the unit. Sugar Beach has the longest stretch of sandy beach on Maui. 5 miles of secluded sand to walk, run and beachcomb. Sugar Beach is very secluded and hardly ever has crowds. Sugar beach is protected from the road by the bird-filled-ponds of Kealia Wildlife Refuge. It is so amazing to walk this beach and literally feel like you have it all to yourself!

A 5-10 minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to Maalaea Harbor where you will find a small grocery store, gym, deli, restaurants, and the Maui Ocean Center (Maui’s #1 tourist attraction), the Pacific Whale Foundation, miniature golf, shopping and most of the ocean activities available on Maui (whale watching, sunset dinner cruises, deep sea fishing & snorkeling tours). Centrally located Maalaea, makes getting anywhere on the island easy. Approximately 15 minutes from the airport, a 5 minute drive south and you are in Kihei and a bit further, the resorts of Wailea! 20 minutes to the West is Lahaina. You couldn’t be in a better location to explore all Maui has to offer!

Nice place to stay away from crowds. Tons of cats here that a neighbor feeds. Also noisy roosters so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.

A good accommodation for the price. Good location - right on the beach - not necessarily good for swimming, but great for long walks with very few people around. The air conditioner worked well and there were ceiling fans in every room. The glass door to the bathroom was a little weird, but we made do. If you plan on cooking much during your stay, note that the sink has no garbage disposal, and there is no salt, pepper or other condiments, so bring your own or plan on buying them.

Very close to the ocean! Best part of the property. Has NOT been recently updated, but the owner removed that recently. Every time that I was in the pool, I was the only person using it; loved that. Unit was not clean and very outdated. I believe the owner is going to remedy some of the issues. Floor near the sink is rotten and spongy.

Quiet Condo with easy beach access

We had a girls trip and the condo was a great place to come home to after a day at the beach. Super quick beach access and lovely neighborhood. I liked that it was away from the large resorts.

A nice place for vacation

The apartment is located in a 3 story building which looks like a small hotel. It has a shared swimming pool, a shower to rinse after beach at the beach entrance, a barbeque area, a parking. The apartment is pretty spacious, well equipped and clean. The hosts communicated very well and quckly addressed an issue we had with the sink dranage.The location is really on the beautiful beach with turtles.

It really was just steps from the best walking beach on Maui. The condo was clean and had everything we needed on our stay. The property had beautiful landscaping and we loved sitting on the patio. The only negative (not anything to do with this unit) was parking spaces were so tight, it was an adventure getting in and out.

Unit is NOT ocean front or ocean view, Complex is

The unit itself was fine. We slept there and made breakfast - that's all. It was fairly clean and updated. Plenty of new cabinets. However...Unit's view is of parking lot where construction was happening. Pool was closed and not available. Toilets and sink had to be plunged numerous times in a 4 night stay. The black shower curtain liner grossed me out - it didn't show the mold and mildew but you knew it was there. White liners are cheap and replacing it every few months would be better than a black one. When I rented the listing said Ocean Front in all caps. You cannot see the ocean from the unit. Other units ARE ocean front, this one is not. Parking places were few and tiny requiring us to park on the street. Furniture is typical condo tropical styles of years gone by. Windows needed to be cleaned. We tried to watch the two NFL playoff games on TV but they were not available on what the owner provided. We did get a good last-minute deal at this property. If I had paid the full price per night plus taxes and cleaning fee and VRBO fee I would have been a very unhappy camper. Hono Kai is not my favorite resort in Maalaea and I am not likely to return here.
