Thanks so much Shelley, we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. That harbor view is so calming, isn’t it? Winter Harbor is a special down east harbor town where people have been vacationing since the mid 1800’s. Come back and visit again.
Thank you Katelyn,First built in 1860 and has many jobs since then. My favorites before we bought it and restored it was the town elementary school at one point and The Donut Hole. I appreciate your review, come back and visit again soon.
Comfortable with an outstanding view of Winter Harbor. The living room is spacious and comfortable and there is a large, loft upstairs that has comfortable beds - a bunkbed and double bed. The stairs a re steep going to the loft, and might be something to consider if you have young kids or bad knees (we had neither). We really enjoyed our stay in the house and loved the area!

Great place on the water!
We rented this house for a relaxing and beautiful weekend. This place did not disappoint! Beautiful view with low or high tide. Overall great place for a family vacation by the water. The town is quiet and there are some great local restaurants and even a coffee shop up the road within walking distance.

Katelyn,
You are the best, thanks for the detailed review. We appreciate you.
Excellent place for summer vacation. Easy to travel around and nice restraint nearby for lobster and other sea food. Wish house had a couple backside light so we could enjoy night time tides of sea.

From the Owner: "What a great idea. We will gathering the off season as it will necessitate running electric. Thanks for the review and the great suggestion. You have just won a discount, should you want to return. Reach out to me directly."
Wonderful long weekend stay. Such a unique property in amazing location right on the water and easy walking distance from multiple great restaurants, walking/super short driving distance from Bar Harbor ferry, and easy driving distance from Schoodic peninsula trails, seaside rock scrambling, etc. Pre-stay communications were excellent and house access via key code super easy. We (4 adults, 1 teenager, 1 dog) loved the postcard views, comfy swivel chairs, and fire pit. Note that the upstairs bunk room plus bathroom is accessed by a steep staircase almost steep enough to be considered a ladder. But the stairs have excellent treads and the two only semi-fit 50 somethings plus 9 year old dog that slept up there ended up navigating them fine. TL;DR, we loved our stay and hope to return soon!

Robin, thank you so much for your kind review. Guests like you are a joy and I am so happy you fully enjoyed yourself.
The owners of this property have worked hard to restore it since the 2024 storm that nearly totally destroyed it. The location of the cottage is perfect…within walking distance to several good restaurants (Treehouse Seaside Grill our favorite), a market across the street, and the ferry to Bar Harbor around the corner to name a few. Most everything you need for your stay is included. The view is lovely too from both inside and outside. Our only negative is that the downstairs bedroom really needs a new bed. I’m sure the owners will be working on replacing some pieces of furniture as they continue their renovations.Thank you for a relaxing stay in Winter Harbor!

From the owner: "Thank you for your feedback — a new bed for the downstairs room is at the top of our list, and we’re also planning to sand and seal the floor to keep the space in great condition for future stays."
Loved the mesmerizing flow of the tide washing in and out. Whole place like a picture postcard of Maine coastal life.
Highly recommend for relaxing and being close enough to Acadia.
Property was exactly as described. Smooth transaction, no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended. We had a great stay!

Winter Harbor, ME Cottage
Our stay was wonderful. For the second consecutive year, our family stayed at the cottage. From the first moment of excitement when you enter the cottage to see the outstanding view of Henry's Cove, to each night of our stay anticipating the next day in such a beautiful location, each of us had a great time! The house is perfectly situated in the the fishing village of Winter Harbor. Easy to walk to shops and restaurants, the grocery store is directly across the street. We visited Bar Harbor both by driving and taking the ferry which leaves from Bar Harbor. The house was clean and comfortable. The host Larry, is quick to respond if needed and easy to work with. We look foward to our next stay in the cottage!

My family loves our Cottage for the very same reasons. Thank you for coming back again and again
The house is a slice of heaven. Waking up to the tide waters and sea life was amazing. Perfectly situated on the cove. The home is welcoming and well equipped. We hope to return for another fabulous vacation!
What a terrific stay! The cottage is just adorable, clean and well stocked. Right on the water and walking distance to restaurants, coffee and shopping. Just a few miles to Acadia National Park. Winter Harbor is a quiet and beautiful alternative to crowded Bar Harbor. Great communication with the host and so accommodating and helpful. Will definitely stay here again and again!

Price was good and the view is priceless!
It was such a cute home. Right on the water. We loved the fire pit. Such easy access to Schoodic Peninsula. We enjoyed the little town and the quiet side of Acadia. The store right across the street had all of the supplies we needed. We enjoyed the Wrinkled Pickle restaurant and the cute art and antique shops in town.
Staying at Winter Harbor was fun. Much quieter than Bar Harbor and still close enough to things. The house is very close to the quiet side of Acadia. The house was fun to stay in. Right on the water. Able to watch the tide move in and out and the boats in the bay. Kitchen was well stocked. Still some finishing touches to complete on the rebuild of the house, but such a cool history. Owner was very responsive. House was comfortable and kid’s loved the upstairs. Totally recommend staying here.
We wanted to spend a little time in Acadia National Park and found this Historic Winter Harbor Cabin. It was everything it was pictured to be. Sitting overlooking a beautiful bay we watched the tide role in and out and the birds by day and stars by night. Wonderful! The cabin had just the right rustic feel but was completely remodeled. Very clean and efficient. Really charming. Very near shops and restaurants - we walked to most places in town. We would highly recommend staying in this cabin and Larry, one of the owners, was very easy to contact with any questions. We would love to come back one day!
Our four night stay in Winter Harbor didn’t start great, but the home has great potential. There was a mixup between the owner and cleaner so when we arrived the home hadn’t been cleaned. It was bad. I contacted the owner and the cleaner arrived shortly after. The owner (Larry) was responsive and contacted me when the cleaners left. He was told “we did the best we could with the time we had.” I’m still not sure what that means since we didn’t give them a time limit.
The home has a wonderful history. A winter storm hit the Harbor in January and because of the damage, the owners completely restored the home. We enjoyed watching the tide come in and go out, and the wildlife was abundant. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. What a treasure Schoodic Peninsula is!

Hi Trish, we take the cleanliness of our properties seriously, and we're sorry your stay got off to a rocky start. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- Thank you for your feedback. I genuinely appreciate you sharing both the positives and the challenges of your stay. You’re absolutely right—there was a mix-up in our cleaning schedule, which unfortunately resulted in the home not being ready upon your arrival. I want to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. As you mentioned, I responded immediately, and the cleaners were on-site as soon as possible to address the situation.- I’m so glad that, despite this hiccup, you enjoyed the unique charm and history of our home. The winter storm that hit in January led to a full restoration, and we're proud of how the house turned out. Watching the tides and the local wildlife, as well as being part of the tranquil Schoodic Peninsula, are what make this place so special.- I’m personally heading up to the house at the end of this month to complete a few finishing touches, addressing feedback from all of our guests to ensure every stay is as perfect as possible. Thank you again for your review and for highlighting both what makes our home special and the areas where we can continue to improve. Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!

Historic cottage but some things to consider
Charming historic cottage in Winter Harbor. The location is amazing, walkable to downtown winter harbor (very tiny town), loved the Provisons across the street, the 5&10, DownEasters for coffee, the hot dog cart! Minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula “the quiet side of Acadia” which is very true and lovely! The ferry leaves right from the harbor the house is located on if you want to take that route to Acadia. We enjoyed the fire pit outside, watching the seagulls and the tides. Some things to consider…as previous reviews have stated the house went under major renovations and while they’ve done a lot in short time, things are still unfinished. You are paying for location and not necessarily comfort. The mattress downstairs desperately needs to be replaced. The sofa is on the smaller side. The fridge is on the smaller side if you plan to grocery shop/stock the fridge/make meals. The stairs to the second floor loft are steep and the double bed upstairs is a mattress on a box spring on the floor. No dresser/bed frame/bed side tables in that room. The pictures reflect high tide. The tide goes out every 6 hours and it’s a 12ft tide so when it’s out, it’s fairly far out. The tide pools are fun to explore but no fishing/swimming in this harbor. Location can’t be beat, the cottage has so much history and is charming but as someone else stated, “good but could be great!” (See photo of low tide)
