Lovely cottage in the countryside to relax in and enjoy Wye!
We had a lovely short stay here and would absolutely return. The accommodation was clean, modern and had all the facilities we needed. The glass window overlooking the countryside was a plus. Our dog settled really quickly which is always reassuring in a new place, and we all enjoyed our stay very much

Relaxing Stay in Nature
We had a very peaceful couple of days in the Skirrid and was great to wake up to countryside views. Only minor comments were weak WiFi and lack of privacy with a couple of people walking past as there are no blinds/curtains in the lounge/diner.

Peaceful views in your own home away from home but better
The property was immaculate, the sheets were crisp and smelt heavenly and the sofa was so comfy to sit and watch the rain and some Sunday afternoon tv. The kitchen was just like home (except pristine!) great to have a selection of crockery and glassware. Our dog loved looking out the at the horses and listening to country life and made herself right at home. We explored Tintern and can’t wait to come back.

If you are looking for a real 'out-of-the-way' break near the Wye Valley, this one is worth a look at.
The outlook from the Skirrid home was just fab for us that live in a large town just outside London. Just so peaceful, apart from the birds going about their business, which was great to watch.
Inside did not disappoint either with a good sized lounge/diner/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
I usually rate my finds high, but in this case have had to go with a 4/5. The location does not receive 3G/4G, so WiFi is a must to remain connected. Indeed, you need Wifi to take advantage of some of the TV features. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the Wifi was down, with the host advising he was on the case and by Monday it would be back. Sadly, this did not happen until Friday, a day before we were due to depart. We all accept some things need a technician to sort and it sounded like the host had been let down by his team, however, it did impact the quality of the stay, which the host duly acknowledged.
That aside, would recommend as a good base for SE Wales.
Amazing experience so relaxing
And everything you needed was there definitely will be returning and would highly recommend this holiday
Definitely a 5*from us
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with our dog. We had such a brilliant time! The accommodation was beautiful and had everything we needed. We had such a good rest from work and enjoyed being able to go for fantastic walks. You are able to go for a walk around the farm land (and being a horse lover I loved being able to see the horses so closely) and there are longer walks that you can take from the front door. John was very friendly and knowledgable of the area, providing us with maps for local walks. This local knowledge made the world of difference as we knew where we were headed on our walks! We had a couple of rainy days but enjoyed playing scrabble (there are a selection of games you can borrow) and watching films.
We left feeling refreshed and would definitely return.
Thank-you!
Great Stay at Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm - August 2019
My family (2 adults and a young child) stayed in the Skirrid unit at the Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm for 4 nights in August 2019. It was an excellent experience. Communication with the owners was great. They sent us a very helpful welcome packet before the trip. When we arrived, everything was as-advertised and we were able to quickly make ourselves at home. The unit was clean, bright, well-appointed, and looked exactly as it does in the photos online. The owners had left on the dining table laminated satellite images with walking routes in the surrounding area marked on them. This was a lovely touch as it allowed us to quickly get out and start enjoying the immediate farm land and woodland around their property. The views from the unit and its patio were gorgeous and made the start and end of each day a real pleasure.
The location of the Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm was very convenient for our explorations of Southeast Wales. The drive there from London was very easy and we were a relatively easy drive to Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, the Forest of Dean and Clearwell Caves, Caerleon's Roman ruins, Caerphilly Castle, the Brecon Beacons, and Hay-on-Wye and its many lovely bookstores.
We spoke with the owners on a couple of occasions while we were there and they were very friendly and helpful.
We had a wonderful experience at the Welsh Marches at Upper Glyn Farm and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in the beautiful Wye River Valley region.
