Great River Cottage #1

Our vacation cottage is located on a 1/2 acre corner lot (Lake Street and Highway 35) within walking distance to downtown, marina and restaurants. The cottage has two available units to rent. Rent one or both! Each Cottage has their own separate entrance. There is a small back porch that is between each cottage.

Cottage #1 has 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath and sleeps up to 9 people
Bedroom 1~ Queen bed, trundle bed
Bedroom 2~ 3 Twin beds (upstairs)
Bedroom 3~ 2 Twin Beds (upstairs)

Cottage #2 has 1 bedroom, 1 full bath and sleeps up to 4.
Queen bed and pull out couch.

Each cottage is has a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, wireless internet, tv, dvd player.

Location was great. It was not noisy at all being on the Main Street! It could have been cleaner. There was crumbs on the kitchen floor and a lot of cobwebs in the bathroom. It is an updated old home so I imagine it’s difficult to keep up with the cobwebs. Stairs were fairly steep to the upstairs bedrooms.

Great stay for our girls night out!

This was a great place for a girls night. We each had our own beds and plenty of room. We stayed in the spring so the town was pretty quiet, next time we'll have to try the summer time. We went to a winery a mile down the road and a cute little cafe for brunch!

Great location, great place!

I stayed here with some friends before a wedding in Pepin. The location was great with lots of parking! Beds were comfortable and AC worked great. Very cute place! Would recommend.

LNO gals 70-80 year old ladies

Very nice place to stay. Clean and comfortable rooms, great beds, very comfy. Close to bar and grills. Would highly recommend.

Adorable cottage!

Our stay was perfect at the Great River Cottage! My bridesmaids and I stayed there the night before my wedding in Pepin and it was in a perfect location. We were able to explore Pepin a little just by walking around the cottage. The house was very clean and check in and check out was very easy! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Pepin!

Bachelorette Party

We celebrated my bachelorette party here and it was perfect. The house accommodated us and we had a blast. The house is on the main road and is close to bars and coffee shops. I would happily stay here again in the future for a girls weekend. Heidi was quick to respond and answered all our questions. She was a fabulous host!

Quick girls weekend

We had a wonderful time staying at Great River Cottage #1. Room accomodations were perfect for our group of 5 ladies. Lots of amenities for just staying in on the first cold days of the season in October. Plenty of blankets and the large couch and chairs in the living area were perfect for our no kids weekend get-a-way.

Golf outing

Stayed with my son, brother and nephew. We arrived later than expected. Our unit was great for us plenty of room, clean, and comfortable. Wish we would have spent more time there but thats on us. Definitely recommend.

Overall a Quick Nice Stay

The house was clean and just as described. The location is right off the main road so it’s easy to find. It’s just a short walk to the lake. Check in was easy but communication about it wasn’t until the morning of which felt last minute. I really wish they’d allow guests to adjust the thermostat. It was too warm for a good nights rest. Other than those small things, it was great for a short stay.

Great House for Groups

The house is very accommodating to groups of friends. All the beds upstairs are twins, which was fine since we were on a girls weekend trip, no need for queens or king beds. The steps up the stairs are narrow and steep, take your time! The kitchen set up was great, plenty of utensils and dinnerware. Bathroom was clean and plenty of towels were furnished.

Disappointed

This house didn't look as nice as it did online. The outside of home was dirty with paint peeling. I received a message with the check in and check out instructions along with Wi-Fi password but not the 4 digit code to get in. I called the Owner to ask for the code. She answered by a huff, saying she already sent it to me and she didn't have time for this. I said, I don't see it. Did you email it to me? She said no. Its a message thru VRBO. I said I don't see it. Where would it be in VRBO? She said I sent it, I'll call you back. She called me back and told me the code is "xxxx". I punched it in and the door unlocked and I said it opened, Thank you. Then she said, like I already said..I sent it to you before, now i suppose I have to explain all the rules to you. I said you don't have to be so snappy. She said she wasn't snappy. At that point I ended the call. The inside smelled musty. The downstairs BR contained a daybed and some kind of a weird full size wavy mattress on a squeaky possible trendle bed type frame. It was super uncomfortable. The two BRs upstairs were full of beds but the stairs were steep and narrow without a railing to hold onto. The ceiling slopes in from the roof line upstairs and is not accommodating to anyone tall. We tried to connect to Wi-Fi. It wouldn't work with their password. Tried the tv. Couldn't get the volume to work. Didn't dare call owner after our earlier convo. I would never stay there again.

Its a nice little place to stay. We stayed there when we had a wedding in town. Very close to wedding venue and walking distance to the water and some bars. Cute little place. Stairs to get up to the 2 upper bedrooms are very narrow and there is only one bathroom in the large cabin, but I would definitely stay there again.
