I’m a critic for cleanliness, and it was flawless. It felt comfortable and homey. Beautiful drive to get to the beach, and a great central location if you want to explore both north and south equally. It was the perfect, secluded spot for a relaxing trip.
What a great place to stay, my wife and I had the best time and this central location made it easy to get to any place. After sight saying and hiking, this is the perfect home to relax and recuperate and get ready to go again.
It's not far from whatever you need, but also out of the way enough that it feels private and more remote. The property itself is perfect for honeymooners. We stayed in three VRBOs during our honeymoon in Hawaii, and this was my wife's favorite.
Loved our stay here, hope to be back someday, we loved the screened in porch with day bed, surrounded by greenery and trees, the plunge pool, and the beautiful views nearby. 5 stars!
This is a perfect location for talravelers exploring hawaii. It has beautiful scenery on the way to the house. The house itself is exactly as pictured. And hosts had everything necessary for beach days
Beautiful location, excellent communication with the owner as well as extremely hospitable. Sad to learn the property is up for sale.

Hi there, we are the new owners of the place! Just wanted to let you know the cottage will continue to be available for vacation rentals so you can stay here for years to come. Mahalo!
Hosts were very responsive to our 1 small issue and it was resolved quickly. They went above and beyond. House had great amenities. 2 boxes of tissue mosthosts ignore this. Plenty of TP small starter dove soap. There was shampoo conditioner body wash laundry soap and sun screen all great when you are staying on an Island you dont have to run out for basics.and the ice maker works
We loved this property! Very clean & comfortable with all the necessities. The location is great -- very easy to find and right outside of Kapaa with easy access to all parts of the island. The weather was cool and rainy for much of our stay (which is why it is such a beautiful, lush island!), so did not get much use of the pool, but it is a nice addition for warmer weather. We would definitely stay at Sleeping Giant Cottage again.
We found this house to be the perfect location for exploring the island!!
The house was as advertised - I would describe it as clean and cozy. It was wonderful to come back after a day of exploring and be able to cool off in the splash pool and relax out on the screened in porch (my favorite part of the house!). Our kids found the pull out couch to be perfectly comfortable and we all enjoyed the easy access to washer and dryer during our trip.
We came across this property because it was close to the sporting complex our sons tournament was being held at. We absolutely love this cottage. It was clean and comfortable. Perfect for our little family. The kitchen has everything you need. The two porches and the little plunge pool were great. I would definitely stay here again. The host was very quick to message back and accommodate us.

Charming cottage in private lush setting, excellent value
My husband and I stayed at the cottage for 5 nights in late Februaryearly March and had a wonderful experience. The central location is convenient to whatever activities you decide to do, We especially liked coming home from a big day of hiking, grilling fresh fish, sipping Mai Tais and reading/relaxing in the comfortable living room and lanai among the private, lush tropical landscaping, birds, etc. The cottage is an excellent value for the price. We also appreciated the owner, Rick's, thoughtfulness as he took the time to send us island information ahead of time, and checked in with us to be sure all was well. Thank you Rick!
We had a lovely stay at the Sleeping Giant Cottage. We loved having our coffee in the morning sitting on the screened in lanai, to be fair we spent almost all our waking time on the lanai. We were able walk to the trailhead for the Sleeping Giant. We enjoyed the privacy of the plunge pool and it was a great place to cool off! The cottage was surrounded by greenery and trees, it was very nice to just enjoy the views.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals at home. There is no AC in the cottage, however they supply plenty of fans and there is great air flow in the house with lots of windows and sliding doors.
Location of the Cottage was great for us, it was secluded and tucked away from the main villages. It took about 11 minutes to get into Wialua by car.
We would definitely come back and recommend for couples looking for a relaxing getaway.
Normally we stay at a beach resort when we visit Kauai but we wanted to have the opportunity to cook our own meals this time. We will definitely be returning to this little cottage. Super clean, excellent communication from hosts. Super cool cat that lives on the property! Short drive to the beach and downtown Kapaa. Perfect location to avoid contra flow traffic as there are a few ways to get to the cottage, so no waiting around! The pool is perfect size for a small family. Enjoy the sounds of the birds and just relax! Thank you Michelle and Rohin, we will be back soon.
Oh and this cottage has ALL the beach equipment you could possibly need. Chairs, umbrella, ice chests, snorkel gear. You name it, they have it.
This was a very nice property and exactly as advertised. Neighborhood was out of the city proper but convenient to everything. Plunge pool was cold but a nice addition. Screened porch was fantastic.. However, window sills were not cleaned and, more significantly, three of the pillows had mold on them. Yes, Kauai is very damp, but this certainly should have been noted in the cleaning process and the pillows replaced. Maybe understandable for a budget hotel, but at the price charged, greater care and oversight should have been exercised.

Thank you so much for staying at our home and our sincerest apologies about the pillows. After we saw this review we immediately bought new ones to rectify the issue. We only wish you had let us know early so we could have brought you fresh pillows during your stay. Mahalo
The cottage, just up the hill in a residential area at the base of the Sleeping Giant Mountain, was exactly as represented and perfect for us Kauai is not that large of an island ; therefore the central location of the cottage made it easy to reach anyplace on the island you wanted to go.
Minutes away to the south is Lihue, airport, COSTCO, Walmart, Target. To the north Kapaa, Safeway and the best shave ice on the island ...Wailua Shave Ice (Strawberry/Mango with snow cap and foam). Day trips north are Hanalei and south/west to Waimea and Kokee State Park.
If you want to feel like you are at home, kitchen, laundry, screened lanai, lush yard then it’s perfect. If you want maid service, room service, walk to restaurants and bars or an all inclusive experience it’s not the place for you.
For us it was perfect, neighborhood cat “Tortilla” would saunter by to say hi and the outside garden shower was more than delightful.
Hawk and “T” (Boomers on a honeymoon)
Tucked away in the hills surrounded by greenery. When we checked in at around 430 all the windows were closed and the house was quite warm because there is no AC but after an hour with the windows open it was very pleasant. The location is good for both northern and southern excursions.
We LOVED this house! It’s in a beautiful, more private area and was just a quick drive down to the beach. Lydgate Park nearby was amazing!! The pool is a little smaller than we realized but it was great for the kids to splash around in. If we ever go back to Hawaii this is definitely where we will stay again. The hosts were fantastic and very responsive. Thank you for helping make our trip awesome!
