Very nice property. We loved beach combing with the children. I slept on main floor with my 8-year-old autistic grand daughter and my daughter her husband, the 4-year-old and the 20-month-old slept upstairs. It all had a lovely time!

Private well cared lovely beach house. Fantastic views from most rooms. Comfortable beds and furnishings. Large lawn area. Beach is rocky and not really walkable. Nice extras like hot tub, outdoor fire pit, workable kitchen, toys, games &books, good wifi, gift of chocolate and wine. Exactly as described and pictured on website. Family of 5 adults and 1 toddler enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Fanny Bay. We've stayed at many vrbo's over the years and this one is 5-star. Great location, comfortable beds, kitchen well stocked. The hot tub was a bonus! We would definitely come back. Thank you.

Another wonderful experience

We had another wonderful week at Pearl Point, and we are looking forward to our stay a year from now. The cottage is welcoming and comfortable, clean and filled with wonderful art and cooking equipment. The view is fabulous, a private forested paradise with panoramic water views. It is truly a home away from hone, with better views.

Fantastic Spot to Recharge

The PERFECT spot for our family getaway. Our daughters aged 4 & 6 just loved the hottub and the access to the ocean. We enjoyed how quiet it was as well as how clean the space was. The house had ALL the extra's you could ever want, it felt like a high end hotel with the benefit of the privacy of an airbnb. The location is so perfect. We spent one day travelling to Coombs, another day going to Denman & Hornby Island and also hiking to Trent Falls (AMAZING). On our last day we enjoyed the space and relaxed and headed out to Victoria to trip around and hit the evening ferry. THANK YOU for everything!

Wonderfully relaxing stay!

Pearl Point Beach House provided a lovely, private and relaxing "home" while on vacation. Everyone we dealt with during the booking process and during our stay was extremely pleasant and always provided a timely response. There were four of us staying there, myself, my husband, my mother, and our 12 year old son. We all enjoyed ourselves a lot and appreciated the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The views were wonderful - even on the one rainy day when we stayed in. The home was well appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable vacation. We brought our own kayak along and were able to go out on a few enjoyable paddles up and down the local shoreline. The hot tub was great in the evenings and there were lots of local restaurants a relatively short drive away either in Courtenay, Qualicum or Parksville. Thank you for a great vacation - we hope to be back again!

An incredible stay at our new favorite property!

We cannot say enough good things about our stay! The house is beautiful, with a coastal beach feel to it, which is exactly what we wanted. It is located on right on the beach with beautiful sunrise, mountain, island and sunset views. It was a very welcome surprise to find out that the beach offers so much to do and to eat. It has several types of oysters, clams, mussels and other types of sea creatures. We even found two large starfish and saw two orcas! Exploring the beach and the nearby islands was the best part of our stay here. The owners were very friendly and responsive! We really appreciated the nice bottle of red wine and chocolate that was waiting for us at arrival. There were many thoughtful touches throughout the house and the overall property, which made it feel like a home. Hands down this was one of the best rentals we experienced in decades. We plan to return as soon as we can! Thank you for a wonderful time :)

Pearl Point - Simply Amazing

We’ve recently returned from an amazing one-week stay at Pearl Point, on Fanny Bay on Vancouver Island. The property is simply stunning; I’ll let the photos in the listing speak for themselves, but I will say that the photos could not possibly do justice to the sense of absolute privacy and incredible views you’ll experience. Our family of five - Dad, Mom, 13 year old daughter, and 15 and 18 year old boys - did lots of *absolutely nothing*: board games and chess, having coffee and reading books at the edge of the property overlooking the bay, playing bocce and catch on the lawn, and marshmallows at the fire pit at night. We did do a short bike ride on Denman Island (the ferry is only a 5 minute easy bike ride from the property), which was very scenic and enjoyable. We were a tad rushed in packing and leaving for the ferry to get to Vancouver Island, and I ended up not bringing my kayak; the folks at Pearl Point were kind enough to lend me one and I spent a few early mornings on Fanny Bay enjoying the glorious sunrises with the otters and cranes. Another big highlight for our entire family: relaxing in the seaside hot tub. We hopped in morning, noon, and night, and the 180 degree view of the sky over Fanny Bay provided some amazing stargazing. I snuck out to the hot tub solo one very late evening and even witnessed a meteor explode into the Earth’s atmosphere, something I have never seen before. The owners have thought of just about every amenity you could possibly need. In our rush to leave home I had also forgot my “travel bar”; I was delighted to find a martini shaker in the cupboard on our first afternoon. Every few days we'd run across another little something that Terry and family have provided that many properties don’t often consider. All of these simple touches make your stay at Pearl Point all that more enjoyable and relaxing. One of the best family vacations we've ever had, without question. I have to admit I’m a little hesitant to leave this review, because I’d rather keep this amazing vacation find to ourselves!

For many years, my husband and I have travelled to Vancouver island. This was, by far the most well appointed rental we have encountered. The hosts have gone out of their way in considering their guests needs. The property was spotless, beautifully landscaped and private. The view is incredible and there is an abundance of nature, deer, rabbits, sea otters, blue herons, seals and eagles were daily sightings. This is a rental we will recommend to others and we will return for another visit. To the hosts, thank you so much for your hospitality during our stay.

What an amazing place! It was fully stocked with everything one would need and was impeccably cleaned. Beautiful modern home with great decor. The views are out of this world! Very private setting as well. We used the fire pit and hot tub every day and loved it. Gorgeous and huge lawn, great for yard games. We played lots of bocce ball, badminton and croquet. Close to Courtney and the general store, 2 minutes away had everything we needed. The hosts were fantastic with great communication. Looking forward to returning. (We were so sad to leave!)

Wonderful

This property is located in a prime spot over looking the sea and Denman Island. During our stay we saw seals, sea otters, bald eagle and herons. As the owner states it’s on a 5 acre plot which is well looked after and with the scenery makes you go out side and soak up the views. The house is well appointed and has everything you might need. We had many happy evenings cooking on the bbq and relaxing. The owners live on site part of the year and we had an opportunity to speak to Terry and Ross who are a lovely couple and gained some valued information of were to visit and what to look out for.Overall we could not have asked for a more idyllic spot to spent 2 week and l would like to that thank the Hebblethwaite family for allowing us to stay in their beautiful Beach House.

Spectacular views and a beautiful home

We stayed for a week but could have stayed longer! We walked into the house to see spectacular views and a beautifully appointed home. Terry and Russ have thought of everything - the fridge has an ice maker, beach towels, small cooler, multiple spots for outdoor seating (including a lovely hot tub). Location is great with a fish monger 2 mins away. We will be back for sure!!

About the host

Hosted by Terry Hebblethwaite (Pearl Point Beach House)

Host profile image
Terry and Russ met in Canada‘s Northwest Territories in 1979 and married in 1981. They raised their family while operating their business in Alberta, but took every opportunity to visit the West Coast with a dream of one day living on Vancouver Island.

Following patent application and start up of an environmental/Safety products company for the oil and gas industry, Russ sold his first business to a First Nations consortium, allowing flexibility as to where they could live.

Always looking, Terry found this 5.54 acre, 1500+ feet of waterfront property for sale online, which they purchased in 2001. They chose to name it “Pearl Point”; after Russ‘s mother Pearl, for its Pearl producing oysters on the beach, and because this property is truly a unique Gem.

In addition to spending time on Pearl Point, Terry and Russ enjoy time in Alberta where their son Tyler, daughter Ashley, with spouses and eight grandchildren live. They also enjoy spending time in Phoenix and traveling internationally.

Russ & Terry have enjoyed stunning natural, historical and cultural beauty of many places around the world and are ever grateful for the ability to call one of the most beautiful places they’ve seen, home. They look forward to sharing this piece of paradise with you.

What makes this property unique

Pearl Point was formed thousands of years ago by material from the high ground of Vancouver Island washing into Baynes Sound through Hindoo Creek, forming a fluvial fan.

The freshwater of Hindoo Creek, vantages allowing warning of impending danger from the sea, a mature forest of cedar, Douglas fir and hemlock offering protection from the elements, materials for shelter, boats and clothing along with an abundance of berries, shellfish and finfish, this point has served as home to indigenous people for hundreds of years, evidenced by middens around the property.

We bought this property in 2001 from a family who’d owned it since acquiring deed from the Crown 118 years prior. We built the beach house in 2002 and have enjoyed the privilege of hosting guests from around the world since 2003.

We hope you enjoy Pearl Point, it’s trees, flora and fauna, high and low tides, our resident eagles, shellfish on the beach, occasional orca and humpback whale sightings out front and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from either inside or outside. Please feel free to explore the property and please, do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

We hope you give Pearl Point a page in your book of memories.
