Luxury Barn Conversion -Ideal Location for both Coasts and Eden Project
Tremodrett Barn is a contemporary, two-bedroom barn conversion, graded 5 star by Visit England standards. Decorated in boutique-hotel style including an oak four poster bed it provides a comfortable and stylish base for your holiday. Situated between Padstow and Fowey the estate is surrounded by fields and open countryside. Tremodrett is a tranquil, leafy hamlet yet close to the A30 main road in Cornwall, making it an ideal base for travelling around Cornwall and exploring the north and south coasts. Fibre broadband.
The first floor open-plan living accommodation is flooded with light and has a dramatic vaulted roof space and beams. A Juliet balcony overlooks the courtyard - perfect for a litte star-gazing! Laura Ashley sofas are complimented by a stylish oak dining table . The kitchen is equipped to a high standard with professional pans, a food processor and blender and Sophie Conran china. There is a washer-dryer. In the cooler months you can keep cosy by the fire (electric with real flame-effect).
Downstairs are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. A further room is furnished as a TV den/quiet room - perfect for the children to chill out and give the grown-ups a little respite! A contemporary full bathroom is adjacent to the four-poster bedroom. This main bedroom opens onto the courtyard, so you can pop out easily for a quiet morning coffee, and has a modern king-size oak four poster bed. We like to spoil our guests! There is room for our travel cot in this bedroom or in the TV den. The large second bedroom (twin) is a dramatic room with sloping roof reaching into the eaves of the barn. There is a contemporary en-suite shower room in the twin bedroom so guests in each room have their own bathroom. Both bedrooms are equipped with crisp white bed linen and goose-down duvets for the cooler months.
Outside there are two garden areas - a private garden to the front receives sun throughout the day - and is decorated with palms and exotic plants which thrive in Cornwall's sunny clime. There is a long raised bed planted with flowers and shrubs . Dining table and seating for four with kettle BBQ. To the rear of the barn is a courtyard (shared with two adjacent barns) decorated with mature hydrangeas and camellias. Bistro table and two chairs - perfect for your morning coffee - just outside the four-poster bedroom. The whole estate has been finished to a high standard. In the fields we caught sight of roe deer in our first week and there is a resident woodpecker. There are five other barns on the estate.
(N.B. There is a wide flight of steps down from the car park -designated parking for up to four cars. Access to our barn is via a path round our neighbour's barn with four steps. There is more direct access via the courtyard following key collection. Please note the paved area can be slippery in wet weather.)
The barn is our own holiday home and equipped and furnished to a high standard, not purely as a holiday let, and we hope our guests will appreciate all our little extra touches and have a really comfortable and relaxing stay.
Part of the access road to Tremodrett is a wide, single lane. There are plenty of passing points and little traffic but you may have to slow down to Cornish pace on a bend or two!

Nice location, nice layout of property, well equipped. But lots of dog hair, dust.
The barn was as described. It was very well decorated and furnished, with excellent bathroom fittings. High quality toiletries were supplied.
The location was very quiet even though there are other properties adjacent. The location was easy to find with the directions supplied.

Thank you, Brian, for your review and lovely comments about our barn and location. We are so pleased you really enjoyed your stay at Tremodrett House.
We completely agree the booking process with HomeAway was difficult. Since your booking earlier this year the booking system has changed significantly and should fortunately be more streamlined for future guests.

The place is really lovely - ideal for a family of 4
Our stay was really good - the barn at Tremodrett is really well placed to visit the areas around Newquay and the north coast which we particularly like. There was also an awesome large Soft Play and activity place in St Austell called Kidzworld which is worth a trip if the weather isn't great. The accommodation itself is well worked out with a great upstairs living area with plenty of large skylights to let the cool air in. The Cornwall Services are handily placed really close by and on the whole we found the location very convenient.

Thank you, Stuart, for your review. We are delighted you had a great family holiday at Tremodrett House Barn and found the location so convenient.
A very pleasant accommodation in a good location. Best not to travel when its dark as it was quite hard to find at night. Tucked away on a quiet country lane. The top floor is a living area and can fet quite warm. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms. Bed are a little firm, so be prepared. Overall quiet a nice spot to stay. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you for your lovely review, Deborah - and for your previous comments about the photos not doing justice to the barn -we love to exceed guest expectations!
The Velux windows do open so the temperature (together with the French and dormer windows) can be regulated.
We appreciate bed comfort is very individual. All our beds are medium rated.
Tremodrett is a well-equipped cottage in a countryside location, ideal for a perfect Cornish break. Sleeps 4, two bedrooms with comfortable beds, Good WiFi, parking, local walks. The barn is beautifully decorated and, on a sunny day, one can enjoy the delightful patio. Christine could not have been more accommodating and helpful in ensuring our stay went as smoothly as possible. Thank you.

Thank you, Muriel, for your lovely review. We were delighted to be able to meet you all and help you to settle in to the barn. It was also a rare opportunity for me to practice my French!
We enjoyed staying here very much. The design and decorative details make it a cut above most holiday rental accommodation and even smarter than home in many ways! The beds were really comfortable too, which is always key to our enjoyment.
For our purposes we missed outside storage space for kit and and I think the non-stick saucepans have had their day. In every other way it was a lovely place to stay and I can highly recommend it. Christine was a pleasure to arrange the visit with too. Thank you!

Excellent Accommodation
We had an enjoyable 4 night stay at Tremodrett House. It is a beautifully decorated home-away-from-home with all the amenities for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The kitchen has all the appliances and equipment that we needed for preparing meals including a large refrigerator freezer and dishwasher. The washer/dryer was very much appreciated by us as this was one stop on a two week trip and enabled us to keep our suitcases of manageable size. The location near the A30 was also convenient for seeing the many sights in beautiful Cornwall. The WiFi connection was very good as well. The owner was very responsive to our requests for information and assistance. It was a 5* experience!

Beautiful accommodation in very quiet surroundings
Hosts were great with communication, accommodation was stunning, clean and had literally everything you would need; shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, all herbs, spices, oil, kitchen roll!!
Very well stocked crockery and equipment too. Small point- cupboards and drawers were so well stocked there wasn't much room for the food we had brought for the week, but only a very minor point.
Accommodation is down typically Cornish, very narrow roads, so walking would not be advisable to town.
A perfect base for both North and south coasts.
A lovely week filled with memories, as always, sad to leave beautiful Cornwall.

Thank you for your really lovely comments, Tiffany. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and appreciated all we do to make our guests feel really welcome.
Just to add that, although part of the approach is a quiet single track road, there are plenty of passing points.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely barn - decorated with style and taste we immediately felt at home.
We also appreciated the welcome package, a bottle of wine, milk, cookies, coffee and tea.
We used the barn as a base for hikes at Bodmin Moor as well as Dartmoor. Next to the moors we also explored the coast at Bedrithan Steps and had a splendit day there. We were lucky with the tide and arrived at almost low tide which gave us plenty of time to explore the beach to its far away end.
The weather was also kind to us with only one rainy day that we used to explore the small coastal towns of Fowey and Polperro.
Thanks to Christine and Terry for a very pleasant stay.

A fabulous holiday cottage in a lovely peaceful location
We have just returned from a lovely week staying in this beautiful cottage. We were blessed with amazing weather which was an added bonus.
The cottage was a great size for a family of 4 with 2 lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and a great open plan living, dining and kitchen on the top floor. Everything was spotlessly clean.
We didn't use the snug room but I think if our children had been older this would have been an added bonus.
We loved that even though it was an incredibly busy week in Cornwall (half term holiday) it was still incredibly peaceful where we were.
Favourite days out included kayaking hire from Fowey River Tours and walking the amazing coastline from Trebarwith Strand to Tintagel. Also the kids enjoyed the beach at Porth Pean.
Thanks to Christine for lots of useful information too and for sharing your beautiful home.

Danke, Christine!

Thank you for your lovely review, Tim. We are delighted you were impressed with Tremodrett House Barn - we love having happy guests!
Overall the property was the bast we have stayed at in Cornwall. The facilities were excellent. our only problem related to accessibility. My sister used a walking stick due to weakness in her right side. As such she had trouble with steps from parking area. Also, though ground floor with en-suite was ideal for her the overall upside down nature of the property was not what we expected.

Thank you for your lovely general comments, Charles. We are delighted our property is the best you have stayed at in Cornwall!
Regarding accessibility, it was unfortunate you did not see the description which details the upside down layout, steps on the estate and the photos which show the staircase down from the kitchen.
Christine and Terry are very efficient hosts and we were supplied with detailed information regarding the accommodation. There was a very welcome 'welcome pack' awaiting us when we arrived including a bottle of Prosecco, tea bags, coffee, milk and other essentials. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, superb beds, and the kitchen is well equipped. It is very conveniently situated with St Austell, Padstow and Bodmin within easy reach, and Roche is within easy walking distance for a well stocked Co-op and a very good butcher. All in all we had an enjoyable stay.

Thank you for your lovely review Colin. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Tremodrett and we shall be delighted to welcome you back at some future date.
We had a fabulous 2 weeks in Tremodrett. The cottage was exceptionally clean, cosy and well looked after. It had everything we needed for a really comfortable holiday with children aged 7, 4 and 3 months! We have holidayed in the Polzeath area before but were looking for a central location from which to do lots of exploring of both coasts and this really offered this. It’s in a great spot just off the A30 so the north and south coasts are easily accessible as long as you don’t mind a 30 minute drive (ideal for us with sleeping children!). Plus we felt nicely cocooned away in the countryside with lots to explore on our doorstep. Would really recommend this lovely spot, thanks again Christine!

Thank you for your lovely review, Jenny. We are really happy to hear you enjoyed your fortnight so much at Tremodrett and found it such a convenient base to explore both coasts.
The barn is located in great location with 30mins drive to north or south coastal places in Cornwall. The host Christine was very helpful and emailed us all the useful information needed during our stay. Although the place was supposedly deeply cleaned I thought the cleaning was average. Definitely recommend staying at this place.

About the host
Hosted by Christine Fisher and Terry Gladwin
Christine and Terry live near Stratford - on Avon ( just about as land-locked as you can get!). Terry is a retired architect and Christine workee with deprived children. We love getting away for breaks and have been going to Cornwall for some years and love the slower pace of life, the gardens and the stunning scenery.
Why they chose this property
As soon as we saw the barn and the estate we knew this would suit us and our guests really well. The location is so peaceful yet with the main road for Cornwall so close it is easy to get around the county. We love the granite and slate used throughout the estate and the barn is delightfully quirky with a beautifully light living space.
