Winter or high Summer, sun, snow, wind or rain, you can have a great break at Drayton Cottage, in lovely Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. Expect fluffy duvets, dog treats and vintage detail.

Proud to win the Tested by Tots 2021 holiday let award we welcome couples and families to the cottage.

Let your car gather dust on the cottage drive, big enough for a large 4x4 and relax.

You can walk to the beaches in less than 10 minutes, you can easily stroll to a pub, cafe or restaurant in less than 5 minutes, or you can stay right at home and enjoy the gorgeous, quiet, sunny garden with comfy outdoor couches, barbie, dining table and chairs . Astro turf and paving.

If the weather is blustery, enjoy a bracing coastal walk, followed by a relaxing soak in the bath and chill with a glass of wine and a good book in the cosy sitting room. There is a smart tv and wifi to catch up on emails. A wireless speaker for your iTunes and a lamp which charges your phone in case you leave home without a charger.

In the new kitchen you'll find all you need to cook a great meal, hob, oven, microwave etc. There is a washing machine so you don't have to go home with dirty clothes and the newly fitted bathroom is on the ground floor.

Upstairs there are the two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There is also a baby travel cot, high chair and stair gate. Linen, except for the cot, and towels are provided at no extra cost. There is a single flight of stairs from the ground to upper floor - they are carpeted and there is a handrail. If you have mobility issues you may find them steep. Please note too that if your mobility is compromised the shower is over the bath.

Dogs love the walking on the island, so if you would like to bring your family friend with you, just let me know at the time of booking. The local beaches are open to dogs all year.

The sunny garden is secure and has an artificial lawn so no fears about muddy feet. There is a garden shed big enough to house a couple of bikes. There is also a barbie and dining table with chairs, couches and bench. Shade is provided by a plant covered pergola.

In Bembridge you can do as much or as little as you like. You can find long interesting walks right from the front door, you can enjoy cycling trails, you can rockpool or find a quiet little sandy cove or you can simply enjoy a coffee and icecream at a nearby cafe.

Bembridge is big enough to offer local independent shops with a baker, butcher and farm shop as well as a chemist. There is an excellent chippy, Chinese restaurant, and village pubs offering a variety of food, including takeaway. This small town has everything you need with a post office and supermarket, restaurant, cafes and pubs. Small enough to be cute but big enough to supply your shopping needs without having to use the car.

Voted village of the year 2019 by Countryfile magazine readers.

If markets are your thing, Bembridge has a weekly WI market and nearby St Helens has a quirky car boot sale on the Green on Summer Sunday mornings. There is also a farmer's market in Newport.

If you are looking for exercise you could try a beach ride along Bembridge beaches in the Winter and at St Helens in the Summer. About the host

We live in Rutland, about as far from the sea as you could possibly be, but we have never lost the dream of having a home where we could walk the dogs along the sand every morning. When our daughter started teaching on the island, we knew this was where we could have such a home and we love it.

Why they chose this property

Drayton cottage allows you to relax as soon as you get there. By being able to leave the car in the drive and start walking or cycling everywhere you notice all the small details of the countryside you are blinded to by the speed of driving.

What makes this property unique

The garden is such a private little sun trap, we often spend days just walking along the coast and returning home to read in the garden, getting active only when it's bbq time!
