Offering a break from the 'minimalist' trend of interior design, this home offers a visual cornucopia to the eye with lots to look at, both old and new. Shelves and walls are covered with items that evoke memories for the older generation and fascination for others. Plenty of games for the wet days and a wonderful deck and backyard for summer days.

We had a lovely stay at this funky kiwi bach in Ōtaki Beach. With shops and food just up the road in Ōtaki and the water just a stone’s throw away it was the perfect spot to chill and enjoy all that the Kāpiti Coast has to offer. We were there for the Matariki on Moana festival which takes place right around the corner at The Hori Gallery so it was super convenient. Chitra’s a super cool host and was very clear with all the coms and welcoming as! 100% would stay here again!

A rockabilly beach-house dream

We really enjoyed our stay here in Otaki, close to the beach, great communication from the host and what a treat if you're into 50s - 60s vibe. Truly a lot of love has gone into this place.

We had fun looking at all the quirky memorabilia, much of it sparking memories of our childhood and grandparents' homes, even if it was a bit of sensory overload! House was generally clean, and beach a short walk away.Check-in and out was simple; owner was easily contactable when we initially had a bit of difficulty connecting to the WiFi.

Enjoyable break

Really enjoyed the three nights here. Taken by the retro decor and attention to make holiday makers stay memorable and comfortable. So close to the beach. Loved the large deck overlooking the back lawn area.
