The “Gold Coast” and especially Kawaihae Village was a protected nook during a stormy year. Hale ‘Uhane has a view of all five volcanoes and the beautiful ocean. We loved this immaculate property and the proximity to amazing beaches. We especially loved sunset picnics at Spencer Beach Park, which is a mile away. Hale ‘Uhane was stocked with wonderful kitchen and beach items, making it feel like a second home. We booked again for whale time. Love this well-kept secret spot!

We are so happy that you discovered our spot, close to beaches and fun things to do. Hale ‘Uhane sits in a sacred and special spot, where you can see most of the “five mountains” (volcanoes) from the yard! Your lovely family fit right in here - aloha nui loa…

Thank you for loving Hale ‘Uhane, and for being wonderful guests! It is amazing that you got to see the fiery sky from Mauna Loa’s rare eruption from the safe distance of our location. You can see the snow on the volcanoes now from the yard, and the ocean at the same time. You are welcome back any time for more of the magic of Big Island…

Fantastic Stay!🌺

We had a wonderful stay on the Kohala Coast—-a stones throw from all the beautiful beaches, yet also close to our friends in Waimea. This was a very clean VRBO with a nice BBQ and outdoor area. It was a beautiful home away from home! Loved our time here. Hosts were great! ….till next time….

Great Location

If you want to get to the best beaches quickly for a good price, this is a good choice. It was clean and felt new, with all the supplies we needed to get started. The road noise was noted beforehand, but it was quiet inside for a great night's sleep.

Amazing Place in Paradise!

This was the perfect house for our family! It had everything we needed and then more. The location was perfect, close to the best beaches on the island and lots of great dining. The guest book provided lots of ideas for activities, shopping and places to eat. The hosts were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond, especially with the thoughtful homemade sweetbread waiting for us when we arrived, the delicious Hawaiian coffee, drinks and even sand toys for the kids! Wonderful vacation! Mahalo ❤️

Peaceful Big Island Getaway

We had a wonderful stay and couldn't be happier. The fresh baked bread was as a welcome gift and was fantastic. The property was well stocked with everything you'd need for an extended stay away from home. This is a quiet location away from all the hustle and bustle from the busy tourist areas and perfect for our group. We loved how quickly we could be on our way to a variety of adventures and then return to a peaceful home to visit, cook, watch stars and enjoy cool breezes on the patio with our friends. I would book here again the next time I come to see the big island.

Can't wait to come back

This was our 2nd visit to Hale 'Uhane. It was an easy decision to stay here again. The hosts are so kind and wonderful. The house has eveything our little family could want. It was well-stocked for beach adventures, plenty of utensils and cookware, room for the kids to run around outside, and a relaxing space outdoors. The lights and tiki torches at night were fun too. We love the location for getting to our favorite beaches early and quick trips to Waimea.

We had young fruit on all the trees, and your amazing kids didn’t pluck one thing! Thank you for tucking into our neighborhood and island life like you have always lived here. A hui hou, until we see you again!

Perfect Getaway

This property was the perfect place for our Big Island trip. From the time we booked early spring until the day we left, everything went smoothly. Communication was prompt and never overbearing. The binder in the home outlined the owners’ expectations and reviews of amenities. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable home with a great backyard and close to the best beaches on the island, this is the place for you. We would stay here again, without hesitation!

I cannot recommend this place enough. I came here for a conference and this place had everything I needed to ensure a nice, relaxing and comfortable stay. The hosts were readily available. Thank you so much for the beautiful aloha you brought to Hale ‘Uhane! Many of our conference guests choose us because they like to prepare their own food, rather than relying on a hotel. This is a great place to stay.

What a nice apartment! Conveniently located. Close to many great beaches. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and organized. Spacious living area with great air conditioning and ceiling fans. The back yard overlooks a panoramic view of mountains, lava flows and the ocean. Patio with propane barbecue, picnic table, lounge chairs and covered lanai. The manager was friendly and welcomed us with a plate of macadamia nut cookies and coffee! I would stay here again for sure.

We love Kawaihae

My family had a wonderful time staying at the property. The hosts were very welcoming and communication was great. The house was exceptionally well stocked and appointed. We were very comfortable. The location 5 minutes from some of the very best beaches on the island made it easy to go down to one beach in the morning, come home for lunch, and then head to another beach in the afternoon. Its also a short drive to Hawi or Waimea for those periods when something other than beach time is called for. We would be very happy to stay there again in the future.

There are also great walking paths, with historic information, near Spencer, by Kawaihae Harbor. We loved having your gracious family, and look forward to your return! A hui hou…

Great holiday getaway for adult family’s first time on the Big Island

My 84 yr old father, my husband and my sister and I enjoyed this vacation house for the holidays. We were able to visit the whole island’s sites in day trips and come home to great sunsets and bbq dinners. The massage chair was very relaxing while watching a movie. The beach chairs and towels were so nice to take with us and check out beaches and snorkel spots. Very well appointed for activities and rest. Nick was quick to respond to the only issue we had with the router and we were back online! Super hosts!

Thank you for being wonderful guests, and for reminding readers of our great, central location! It’s possible to see the amazing places on Big Island, without wasting lots of time driving. If you need a rest, the beaches, resorts and award -winning restaurants are super close. The sense of “five mountains”, or the volcanos in the distance is comforting. It’s a great time to get some tropical sun, and then star-gaze at night. See you again and mahalo nui loa!

This beautiful home gave me and my kids the peace and quiet we needed. I liked that it was outside of Kona. Yet it was only 3 minutes away from Spencer Beach Park. I've been to Kona three times Spencer Beach Park is one of my favorites cuz it's really easy for the kids to swim there. This is my first time staying at this home and I hope it's available next time I'm on the Big Island! This home has all the amenities you need. Plenty of space for us and we are a family of five. There was a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine waiting for us which I think was very kind of the owners to do.

Little Gem

This place is super ship shape, efficient with space and has everything you need. It also is minutes from some of the best beaches and just up the hill is Waimea. The hosts were more than attentive, checking in with us from time to time. They made us fresh baked bread when we arrived, which we majorly needed as our flight was delayed and we were so hungry. My little one also got a sea urchin sting and Nicole delivered a basket of toys to the door!! Nicholas and Nicole are a lovely couple and really care about their guests. Definitely will be coming back.

Best stay ever

Best rental we ever had honestly, we feel truly blessed and loved when staying at this place. The host really means it when they say you're welcome as family! You can feel the love of the hosts from the details of the house. We were welcomed with homemade sourdough bread, butter and jam after a long flight arriving after midnight and no food! We had everything we needed for the beach provided. The massage chair is definitely a bonus and enjoyed by all of us. We asked for the bread recipe at the end of our stay and was even gifted a sourdough starter. We definitely hope to return here someday! Thank you so much for making our Kona trip amazing.
