Nestled between Bar Harbor and Acadia, a bright and spacious house in the woods
Welcome to Woods and Waters, a spacious and bright 4-bedroom home abutting Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, ME. We are Spruce Properties Bar Harbor, also available online at sprucepropertiesbarharbor.wordpress.com. Please visit our website to reach us directly or learn more about our properties.
Walk up stairs and enter a lovely, welcoming entryway with plenty of space for shoes and bags. The house flows into a comfortable, open living and dining area with a cathedral ceiling and skylights that fill the space with warm natural light. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality knives, non-stick pans, and tupperware, and is easy to cook in while partaking in conversation in the living room/dining room. We have plenty of books and games to enjoy on the cozy couches, a breakfast nook that looks out into the woods, and a small upper deck for coffee or stargazing. I would describe our house as nothing fancy but comfortable and functional.
The first floor holds the living area, kitchen, half bathroom and 2 bedrooms, one with 2 twin beds and one with 1 twin bed. On the second floor are 2 bedrooms with queen beds, the laundry, washer/dryer, and a full bathroom. The master bedroom in particular is spacious and bright - enjoy birds-eye views of Champlain Mtn or star gazing through the sky lights.
Woods and Waters is located 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor on one of the most scenic stretches of Route 3 passing between Champlain and Dorr mountains. The house has a private location set back from the main road and nestled against Cadillac Mtn, giving the feeling of living in the trees but close enough for quick trips to town or to the beach. It is <1 mile from the four most iconic and scenic hiking trails in Acadia. To access Otter Cliffs, Seal Harbor beach, or Compass Harbor, drive a short 3 min in either direction. There is a hidden stream about 1/3 mile from the house with a small pool. It is unmarked, so to seek it the finder will need to be comfortable navigating the woods. A perfect place to explore all that Acadia has to offer!
Notes: This property is NOT handicapped-accessible. For A/C, we have heat pumps in the downstairs and master bedroom and fans for all rooms. Pets considered upon request. There is parking for 2 cars next to the house. Bar Harbor rental registration #1825, license #VR2R26-220.

Clean and well-maintained property tucked away in the woods but bright inside. Swimming hole off trails in the back is an added bonus. Overall great place to stay.
Great location for exploring Acadia National Park. One minor issue that was addressed quickly. House was as described and worked well for both adults and children.
We had a wonderful time here. The place is very sweet. It is well located - outside of Bar Harbor but very close. It is definitely not fancy - but has everything you need.
Really super clean and comfortable! So convenient for hiking and downtown eating. The backyard hiking was so much fun. We will certainly do this again!
Woods and Waters provided a convenient and comfortable place to stay while we explored Acadia. There was plenty of space for five people and the host was polite and accommodating. The washer and dryer was a huge bonus for us. Thank you for providing this wonderful place for our family’s vacation!
House was the perfect location for our family trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Very clean, everything you could need. Prefect little deck for grilling up some fresh seafood.
Home was just as listed! Everything you need to be close to Bar Harbor but also close to the national park. House was clean and spacious, owners even dropped off extra toys for my little ones. Beds were very comfortable and house is equipped with everything you need to get your vacation started. Would stay again.
Great house, perfect distance from Bar Harbor. Secluded. The water was not what it was portrayed in the picture. Not a big deal for my family but I would not use it on the opening page.

Thank you for your review! Just so other people know, we were in an "Extreme"-level drought at this time with no significant rainfall for 3 months. There was still water to float in at the swim hole, but the stream flow was very low.
The home is beautiful, in a wooded area with lots of room for our family. It is conveniently located close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Some of our family camped at Blackwoods Campground which was just a 5 minute drive away. I would highly recommend staying here. The owners were quick to answer any questions and even had some suggestions for things to to in Bar Harbor.

Thanks, Denise! You were wonderful guests, I'm happy your family trip went well.
Clean, private and incredibly located in the middle of the Park!! Catrina and Kyle were terrific hosts who bent over backwards to ensure we enjoyed our stay! We did!! 5 STARS!!
Had a great time. Kids had fun at the hidden water pond. Kyle was great to deal with. Very easy check in. When we had issues he replied quickly and was helpful. Would just say the house maybe could have been a little cleaner. Overall, a good stay and super location.
Comfortable house in a perfect location close to but outside of town. Clean and spacious, it served us well for our family vacation. Our little one especially appreciated the toys left at the house. Although the trail was not well marked, we found the water and rocks, which were amazing. The house was so nice, I wish we could have stayed longer.
Great location. 4 miles to town and right next to jogging trails. Acadia park is close by. Felt like we were in the middle of the woods. The cabin was bigger then expected. It was clean and very nice.. It was also well supplied. It has a brand new grill and fire pit too. We really enjoyed our stay.

Thank you David for the kind review. I am very glad you enjoyed your stay.
Thanks,

My crew came up to enjoy the beauty of nature with several planned hikes throughout Acadia. The most appealing aspect of this property was the proximity to Acadia. It was LITERALLY a 4 minute drive to the Acadia entrance and probably 5 minutes to the center of Bar Harbors shopping area. Communition with the host was flawless.
The location of this home was great, surrounded by green woods, right by the beautiful Otter Creek. The house was spacious and very pretty with beautiful wooden ceilings. They had a collection of books, toys, and games that my kids happily dig into. Owner very responsive to some general inquiries I had. I recommend this property and would rent it again if we are lucky enough to come back.

This house is more expensive than its competitors in the area, but it’s well worth it if you prize “bright and spacious.” It’s truly bright and spacious, and very well designed for a group. This is especially important if you think you might not be spending all your time outside.
The hosts were superb! Communications started well before we arrived at their house on Otter Creek Drive. Everything that was expected was there upon arrival.
Amazingly, hiking trails were found right out the front door. We were able to walk to other trails nearly by and made it to the top of Cadillac Mountain!
We give the Spruces our very best wishes and hope that we can arrange for another visit next year.
