Great getaway!

The house was perfect for our getaway to Maine! We loved having a quiet place to stay and it was even more special to have our dog with us. Having a full bath for each bedroom was also great! Would definitely recommend staying here.

Overall, we all enjoyed our stay at the home. There was enough room for each couple, the house was spacious, well stocked, and decorated nicely. The location was lovely.Unfortunately, there are two areas of concern. First, the plumbing in the house had some issues. I’m sure this happens over time and is hard to manage with different tenants coming in and out. There were numerous drips and leaks in the bathroom faucets, and the upstairs shower drain was blocked up. Lastly, the house was not cleaned well upon arrival.Again, I think this place has so much to offer and we would love to return, but hope that these few minor details would be addressed.

Beautiful cabin!

The cabin is just beautiful inside with the vaulted ceilings in the living room. It was perfect for our family with plenty of places to sit and relax. The kids had a blast playing pool in the basement! It was also well situated for visiting Acadia National Park, being able to visit the Schoodic Peninsula one day and then to Mount Desert Island the next.

First timers to Maine

Accomodations were comfortable. Property is beautiful. House is very noisy and the lighting situation was sub par. We found several spiders in the house.

Natural setting right off a country road

We can say enough good things about Susan and Michele. They were easy to contact and quick to respond. The post and beam house has a spacious feel and well thought out design. The house was thoroughly cleaned, bathrooms nice as pictured. The beds were comfortable and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the deck listening to the small brook and birds singing. We even got to enjoy sitting around the wood stove on a rainy day. The area has a good selection of stores within 10-15 min radius. Parts of Schoodic park 15 min drive and Mt. Desert Island was about a 35 min. drive with no traffic. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Vacation

We must have hit the high temperature period. It was over 90 2 days of our stay. The house had no AC , so that was a challenge. Bugs were bad We had ants in the house , prob due to the heat. We are country folks , so it didn’t disappoint us totally but some things were a bit less than we looked for. The bedroom situation, water in the master bathroom, grass wasn’t mowed in weeks and I caught and removed a small snake from the basement. Other than that , location was nice . Very quaint and we spent a lot of time out exploring Acadia.

Great getaway

I had a relaxing time at the post and beam house. I brought most of my cooked food with me so it only required re heating but the kitchen is well stocked. The wood stove is great. I brought my own wood but Susan, the property manager was kind enough to drop some off for me too. The location was good as it was less than a 10 minute drive to the Schoodic park entrance. I think I was the first renter so they have a few kinks to work out. The bathtub didn’t work and I was looking forward to a soak since it was so cold out. Susan said she would get someone over but I made do with the downstairs shower. There were no pillow cases on the pillows so I just didn’t use them. The heat works great. I turned it down to 55 while I was out and it didn’t take long at all to warm back up. I didn’t spend a lot of time in the house. I explored the park and returned around 4. Time for dinner, drinks, and a fire.

Cozy A-frame

We stayed four nights and made trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It is a cozy place with quite a bit of character. The property manager was quick to respond to questions. There is no AC but lots of fans so be aware during the summer months but the twmperature was fine in September.

Enjoyable stay

Overall a very good stay, we loved being on the quieter side of Acadia and enjoyed the beauty of the nearby Schoodic Peninsula. The cycling was amazing and we took advantage of many of the local hiking trails. The house definitely met out needs and we were thrilled to be able to bring the dogs. It was clean, comfortable for sleeping, and it offered ample places to sit back and relax. The kids really appreciated the pool table. Susan was quick to respond to our questions and was available, if needed. We did feel that the house could use a little added attention, repairing the screen doors and adding some updated kitchen cook wear. Nothing major, but would be helpful for future renters.

Nice but needs a little TLC

The house was overall a nice place for three adults to stay. It’s VERY secluded, which we didn’t mind. One major critique is that the listing says “at the beach” and it is very much in the middle of Sorrento with no water in sight. Some small repairs would go a long way. Lights and fans that didn’t work, beams that fell off kitchen cabinets (one that almost hit me in the head), etc. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable.

Just Ok

Our stay was ok, but nothing to write home about. The listing looks idyllic and gives the impression it’s a beautiful quiet setting. The home sits right on the road. There is a hedge to give some sense of privacy, but you’ll see and hear every car or bike that goes by. The home is tired and has obvious wear and tear of being a rental. Several of the windows are missing screens and are unable to be opened. We never got the family room ceiling fan to work. This was a problem because the home doesn’t have air conditioning. Most of the time, that should be fine. In July with temps always above 80, it was miserably hot and humid. We knew going in that the house was a good drive to Acadia. We planned for it. If you want to be close to the park, this is not the rental for you. It’s at least 45 minutes to Mount Desert Island if not longer with traffic. In that sense, this home is away from it all, including restaurants. In terms of cleanliness, we arrived midweek the night before trash collection. I messaged that not all the trash would be picked up because it wasn’t tagged and ready to go. I was told not to worry about it and anything not collected the property manager would come get. I was under the impression that meant someone would tale care of it the next day. Instead I messaged again a couple days later before it was picked up and we were no longer smelling it. There’s mold in the showers and in the washing machine as well. Again, just ok.
