Everything was great! The location is absolutely gorgeous, the host was very welcoming, and the cabin made for a perfect picturesque getaway. We had such a lovely time here.
Perfect little rustic cabin feels large inside with an amazing wood stove and toasty loft for sleeping. We made the small fridge and hotplate work for the two of us. Cabin is on the road to other buildings at the resort but was very private for our time there. Happily extended our stay an extra day. Would certainly rent again!
A beautiful, rustic cabin with a grounding quality. The natural, well cared for land of the retreat center is a bonus to the experience of staying here.
The cabin was cozy and perfectly comfortable for an extended stay. We enjoyed the rustic vibe and the surrounding property was immaculate. Thanks again!
Perfect stay! The cabin was really cozy, clean, and looked just like the pictures. The upstairs loft was actually bigger than I am imagined. I really appreciated that the fireplace was all set-up for me ahead of check-in. All I had to do was light it!
host was amazing. This is our 3rd time staying at the little "GEM" tucked asway in the Black Mountains of North Carolina. The Cabin is amazing. Just what you would expect from a rustic mountain cabin. Already looking at our calendar to return in early 2026.
We very much enjoyed staying in this rustic yet comfortable cabin. Good location. Beautiful, quiet and peacful. Good communication with the owner. Would stay again.
This is our 3rd time staying at the cabin, we love it!!! Would highly recommend for a step out of the rat race and reconnect to what is truly important.
Great, cozy little cabin that is legitimately in the woods yet only 15 minutes from shopping and excellent food in Black Mountain. Cabin was perfect for the two of us (and dog). If we ever go back to Black Mountain or Asheville, we will definitely stay here again if it is available.
Quiet space for two with easy access to Asheville and smaller mountain towns. Extra cool to be on the grounds of the historic Black Mountain College. Two thumbs up!
amazing! location and property is incredible, great for walking or just sitting and relaxing. host is super helpful and nice. close to everything but doesnt feel that way. we have stayed all over the blue ridge mountains over the years and this is by far our favorite!
This was our second visit to the cabin. A little less peaceful than our first visit, with a father-son weekend happening at the camp next door. All to be expected in a early fall visit to the mountains. We still found plenty of serenity while enjoying our coffee on the porch each morning. It was cool enough to have a fire in the evening. All in all, another great visit. We'll be back again for sure.
This little cabin was perfect. The hosts thought of everything. The fireplace was fully stocked with wood when we got there. There is a mini fridge/freezer, 2 countertop burners, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, crockpot and more. We really enjoyed our stay.
It was absolutely freezing cold which I can’t blame the landlord for. However the cabin was cold. Better directions on p-tak unit would be great. The front door won’t stay shut unless it’s locked. Front door needs some serious weather stripping or adjustments. There was plenty of firewood and the stove kept us warm. Bed in loft is wonderful! The futon could probably use a new mattress. Otherwise, it was quiet and cozy

Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. It certainly was a chilly weekend for your stay with record low temps! We wish we had known you were having some trouble with the heat settings as the cabin does have a fairly new heat pump system with baseboard heaters as well for extra comfort. We will take a look at the other items you mentioned as well as guest comfort is very important to us.

Perfect ! We loved the seclusion and privacy.
The cabin was so unique. 200 year old appearance with all the modern day amenities.
No cell phone service or WiFi but proved to be just what we needed.
Would recommend for any couple looking for a romantic getaway.

So glad you enjoyed your stay we hope you will visit us again soon.
It is true that certain phone services do not reach our property in the mountains well, specifically AT&T. Verizon tends to work best and is what we use daily as we also live on the same family property. We do have wifi available for guests at the shared office space just a few yards away as well as an emergency guest phone for 24 hour use.
Cabin fever was never a problem even though it was winter time in Black Mountain. We enjoyed shopping on a rainy day and enjoyed hiking around the cabin and ponds on the sunny days.
We enjoyed some local restaurants and spending time by the wood stove.
We had a wonderful stay in the cabin. Probably because it was off-season and holiday weekend, it felt like we were the only ones there. The wood burning stove was preset to start a fire and everything we needed was in the kitchenette. We arrived late and missed the entrance, but the owners graciously met us and led us to the correct spot. Highly recommended!!
quaint austere accomodations. but very quiet and peaeful
bedroom bathroom would have been fomfortable..unfortuntely had issues with bathroom heater which was uncomfortable, also refridgerator and freezer were not working, and issues with TV reception

We did find your handwritten note after your stay letting us know about the fridge. So sorry that is wasn’t working properly and we just wish you had let us know during your stay so we could have resolved the problem. We did immediately replace the unit once we became aware of the problem.
