As guests, you will have the whole house to yourselves. Southwest Harbor is one of the most beautiful towns in Maine and is located right in the heart of Acadia National Park. Watch beautiful sunrises or sunsets over the ocean, hike world-class trails, visit a sand beach, kayak on a tree-lined lake, eat at a classic Maine lobster shack - there are so many amazing adventures on Mount Desert Island!
The house is easy access to the following and more: just over one mile from downtown Southwest Harbor, less than one mile from Cable Crossing Road, less than two miles to Seawall Picnic Area and Beach, three miles to the oceanfront, family friendly hikes of Wonderland and Ship Harbor, and approximately four miles to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Additionally, the house is a 20 minute drive through the heart of Acadia National Park to downtown Bar Harbor.
AARP states that Poet's Cabin is one of the top eight affordable vacation rentals by a national park in the country! (VRBO doesnt allow us to hyperlink, search AARP "8 Affordable Vacation Rentals by National Parks".)
Please note, the stairs going up/down to the loft bedroom are very steep and should be used with caution. Also, there is a new Ring camera (just installed) on right side corner of the porch outside. It only faces externally and is on a passive setting so we can check weather conditions and snow plowing.
