The Space:

Snow-dusted trees sway gently as you pull up the private road, and the crisp mountain air greets you before you step onto the porch. Tall east‑facing windows frame the forest, letting soft winter light spill across the loft‑style cabin, while the scent of pine lingers in every breath. After a day of exploring the trails, steam rises from the private hot tub and the fire pit glows, inviting you to unwind under a sky full of stars.

Sleeping arrangements

- Two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, dressed in fresh linens, extra pillows, and blankets for cozy mountain nights.

Kitchen & dining

- A full kitchen equipped for everyday cooking, from quiet breakfasts to relaxed dinners, opens onto the living area for easy conversation.

- A spacious deck features a BBQ grill, perfect for al fresco meals while the forest provides a natural backdrop.

Outdoor living

- Private hot tub offers a warm soak after outdoor adventures, with the surrounding woods adding a tranquil soundtrack.

- Fire pit creates a comfortable gathering spot for evenings, and a selection of yard games is available for both kids and adults.

- Free on‑site parking and an open backyard give you room to stretch out, though the area is not fully fenced.

- Fast WiFi and a TV with Roku keep you connected and entertained.

- Heating maintains a snug interior during colder months, while window AC is ready for warmer days.

Pet‑friendly cabin

Perfect for

- Couples seeking a quiet escape, families looking to unplug together, or friends wanting a relaxed mountain base with space to unwind.

The indoor fireplace adds a decorative touch to the living area, though it is not functional. The natural setting means you may notice occasional leaves or pollen, especially in certain seasons, but the deck, stairs, and walkways are swept before each arrival.

Returning home to VA

Just an overnight stay. On our way back home from northern New York. The place was nice. It is peaceful sitting on the deck. The check in process was a little tedious with various emails and downloads required. The Backstep is a little sketchy. Be careful walking in. Overall the place was nice

beautiful treetop setting

The property was immaculate with new furnishings. I was able to access the house an hour early on the day of arrival, thanks to great communication from owner. He checked in to make sure I didn't have any questions later that day. I booked the property for some peace and quiet and it certainly met my expectations. Stairs to loft room, where TV is located, are quite steep but my 10-year old dog and I got used to it.

Serene beauty

Words cannot express the experience we had at this beautiful cabin. They just would not do it justice, but I am going to try. Driving to the cabin, in the neighborhood, you feel a sense of serenity and peace. The neighborhood seems like a family place. Full of love and joy. Ample parking is provided at the cabin. The excitement amplified as we see a fire pit and what our view will be from the porch. We open the door to an absolutely clean and fresh smelling cabin. We arrived at dusk, which made our view out the large windows even more beautiful than the pictures on the site portrayed. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every second of our time in the cabin. We went grocery shopping at the food lion 14 min away, and just had a perfectly quiet retreat in the home. My two complaints, I couldn’t stay longer…and I couldn’t find a pen to sign the guest book. I am almost wary of writing a good review… because soon enough I won’t be able to afford to come back again. We are already planning our return trip with our kids and fur babies.

Beautiful Cabin in the woods

The house has been newly furnished and looks out over wooded valley. You're far enough away from everyone else, but it's a quick 15 minute ride to the Food Lion. Only limitation: the TV is in the bedroom in the loft.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Forest Haven in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
