Our host was amazing on communication and making sure our stay was comfortable. The kids loved the board games and out door activities. If nature is one of your priorities I highly recommend this spot. We had a lot of fun up high in the mountain and were able to experience a lot of the local nature.

We had 2 couples and a small child and the house was perfect. There was even a crib, highchair and toys for the child. Everything you could need was there and the property was very clean and had great space both inside and out. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need. There was a small store just down the street for any essentials or snacks. The house has a large yard and there are no neighbors nearby. I would highly recommend the property and the host was attendant to any questions we had and offered any assistance we needed. Highly recommend.

Adorable spot up on Mowbray Mtn. Very nicely maintained and decorated. We barely scratched the surface in all the things it do in the area or at this home. A lot of care out into making this a comfortable home with space to spread out inside and out. We stayed over a brutally hot weekend and house was very comfortable all weekend. Morning coffee on the porch was pleasant with a nice breeze and a delightful chorus of chickens across the street (they were charming and not annoying). Never heard them towards the bedrooms. Owner was very fast to reply and communicate before and during our stay. Had pizza at Andy’s down in Dunlap (so good), Catfish at Stevens Landing in Hixson, Oysters and Jalapeno martini at the Boathouse in Chattanooga, and hiked on the Mowbray Pike trail just down the road from the house. You must also check out the scenic lookout off 111 overlooking Dunlap. Highly recommend and look forward to returning! Thank you!

Higher Ground is a very special place located centrally to many activities and tourist spots as this guest just affirmed. Mowbray Mountain is beautiful and welcoming. If Higher Ground is not available please check out Mimi’s Mountain Hideaway also on Mowbray Mountain located one mile from Higher Ground- same size, same price, similar amenities nestled on a private four acres. We look forward to hosting you and your family at either of our mountain retreats!!

This was the perfect place for our mountain family Christmas. Great location between the city of Chattanooga and the quaint town of Dunlap. We were adventuring everyday, but came back each night to the festive house that had been decorated for the holidays. Weather was cool, and we enjoyed evening fires in the outdoor pit. The house had everything we needed, and Tanna checked in to make sure we were comfortable. She is an excellent host and we would certainly stay here again! Thank you, Tanna!

Wonderful Mountain Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Higher Ground, it was everything we were looking for in rental. We most enjoyed the outside area/fire pit and the rental was very baby/toddler friendly! Tanna was great to work with and very responsive.

Amazing experience

We stayed up on the mountain and it was an amazing experience. It was a little little more time and effort to get down into the city just cause you’re on the top of a mountain, but the quiet atmosphere is totally worth it.

Spotlessly clean, comfortable place. Comfy couches and recliners, nice outdoor space and screen porch. Across the street from a convenience store, but shop down the hill if you plan to cook.
