About this property
Oceanfront Cottage in Milbridge ~ME~
Our cottage was built in the 1960's and remodeled in 2009. It sits on 2 private acres and 250 feet of private ocean front. We are located at the confluence of the Narraguagus River and the ocean, bringing unique wildlife and birds to the area. Deer are plentiful and we have the occasional Moose as well! A short drive will take you to sections of Acadia Park, Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge, Chair Pond and Petit Manan Point. Only a 10 minute drive away, a hike up Pigeon Hill provides fantastic views of the coast and surrounding islands.
In season ( late July to mid August) we are only a few miles form the largest blueberry harvesting area in the world.
Milbridge is a coastal fishing community. It has a rich shipbuilding history and now supports a large lobster fishing fleet. The community - less than two miles away - has shopping, restaurants, antique shops and a medical center.
The cottage is also a great place to just relax and read a book, or sit out on the deck or lawn chairs and watch for eagles and see fishing boats coming and going from the bay. Bring your camera - spectacular sunset views occur almost every night.
On our lot we have a big open lawn great for kids to play on or for exercising you dog.
We are located in a quiet residential area with the closest neighbors several hundred feet away and screened by woods. The road does not have much traffic and is great for an evening stroll, jog or a bike ride. Set back and not visible from the road, the cottage is truly a private setting but still close to everything.
Family members live in the adjacent home and are a great source of information on the area and quick to help out with information and ideas about the area if needed.

Our second time staying in Milbridge at this great cottage! Did not disappoint! Excellent location for taking in the beauty of the area and relaxing surrounded by nature. Really good jumping off point to plan day trips to explore Maine’s Gold Coast and beyond…
Very spacious and well organized cottage on a beautiful water front lot! Great jump off central location for visiting the area’s attractions! Nature and photographer lover’s paradise!Relax and enjoy!
We had a wonderful stay. The host was quick to answer any questions we had. The views and sunsets were amazing. For delicious seafood we recommend Chipman's Wharf. Their lobster rolls and crab melts are out of this world - the best we've ever had!
Wonderful vacation spot, there is plenty to do on the beach or water. The cottage had everything we needed and the host was responsive to any needs or question. We would highly recommend this rental.
The place was exactly as listed, well stocked with everything you need for a great Maine experience. The owner had goodies upon are arrival that we very much appreciated and if you need anything, the owners are very easy to contact. Overall I give this place a 5/5.
We had a great time down on the rocky beach front and there was plenty of lawn to let our dogs enjoy the vacation as well. The cottage was clean and contained most everything necessary for a leisurely week. James was great and was available for anything that was needed. We would certainly stay there again.
We had a wonderful week staying in Milbridge. The view from the home is amazing. We enjoyed walks on the beach and bonfires overlooking the water every evening. Yhe home was clean, and we had everything we needed. James was easy to communicate with amf made sure we had local recommendations. We had an amazing time.
This was a wonderful property that was well maintained and included all basic amenities as well as a great supply of tea and coffee (which we drink in large quantities) and maple syrup that my kids used every day on their pancakes. Laundry was great, clean, worked efficiently. Host was responsive and helpful, and was very helpful when a few issues arose. We will definitely plan to stay again, and you absolutely cannot beat the view and the area.
My friends and I were thrilled with our week in Milbridge. The cottage was clean and fully equipped - even paper goods were provided. The owners, Jim and Susan, were friendly and helpful. We loved the water view and the opportunity to beach comb. An added bonus was the 3 gorgeous sunsets. We also enjoyed the quiet location but the town and the markets were only 10 minutes away.
This is a well equipped and cozy cottage with views you will never forget. So peaceful with only the sounds of birds, breeze and water. Don't miss the Knotty Lobster for lobster stew, lobster rolls and mozz moons - just 5 minutes away. There is also a very convenient grocery store. Bring your binoculars so you don't miss the deer, fox, seals, osprey and other birds. Awesome
House is a small cottage on the water (stairs to get to the water). Wood floors creaked a little that just added to the charm Was worried about no a/c but opened the windows and the night air was amazing. Deer walking thru the yard, it was all just amazing. Well stocked, not that we needed much, extra blankets everything was just great.

GREEN MAIN VACATION
BEST IN A LONG TIME. JIM & SUSAN , A DELIGHTFUL COUPLE. COTTAGE WAS SMALL BUT COZY.OUR HOST SUPPLIED ALL THE NECESSITIES THAT WERE REQUIRED.WOULD NOT HESITATED TO RECOMMEND IT FOR A QUITE AND RESTFUL VACATION IN IDEAL "GREEN"SURROUNDINGS.THE GROUND WERE SPACIOUS AND OUR CITY DOG HAD A BALL!
We had a very relaxing week at the cottage. It was clean, cozy and comfortable with a beautiful view. While our trip was late in the season, we were still able to spend time down at the beach and have a lobster dinner at the picnic table watching the sunset. Owners were great! Accessible, responsive and super nice - though we did not have a single issue. We would definitely return. Thank you James!
We had a wonderful week at this waterfront cottage! It's very clean, private, well stocked & has lots of thoughtful little touches that you make you feel at home. SO relaxing to sit by the water & listen to the tide come in! We kayaked, did several great oceanfront hikes nearby, took day trips to Campobello Island & Bar Harbor and had a wonderful rainy day for reading & puzzles. Highly recommend the lobster rolls at Chipman's Wharf! James & his family were wonderful -attentive, helpful, but never intrusive. FYI-Wifi is great for those of us who sometimes take a 'hybrid' vacation.
We stayed there for a week with our two dogs. We were looking for a place to have fun but also to relax. The house is located on the shore of the bay and is very quiet. The backyard is large, and our dogs enjoyed running there. The house is very clean and well-equipped for a long stay. The property is close to several nice trails, so we could hike every day. There are a few local shops nearby. We had breakfast with tasty pastries from a nearby bakery, Sugar & Crumbs, and enjoyed fresh fish, lobsters, and clams from Chipman’s Wharf every day. The owners are perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We appreciated the basket of local products they organized for us at the property.

Thank you for your kind words - we hope to see you again!
Property was great! Very quiet area, great view of the Narraguagus River with access to the shore at low tide for exploring for shells. Though it was cool in the evenings, we enjoyed the firepit twice, wood provided! We saw deer just a few feet away three times during our stay, but we weren't always there at dusk so they could have been there daily. The house is small but enough for 5 of us to be together, eat, and sleep. We made use of the full kitchen more than once. Laundry on-site was handy. Beds were comfortable, plenty of pillows, fans available on nights that were warm. Full bedroom is adjacent to the living room and has a sliding door to the only bathroom, so noise was a bit of an issue. Deck was a great place for peaceful early mornings and looking at all the stars at night! Host James was great!! Would definitely stay again!!

We would love to host you again - glad you enjoyed your stay!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at this cottage. It was our 25th anniversary and we needed somewhere special to get away from the daily rush and enjoy time together. Downeast Maine was a great choice! We enjoyed poking around for shells and rocks at low tide; days with temperatures in the 60s; the rough ocean spray on the Schoodic Peninsula; waking up to a hazy sunrise. Cadillac Mountain was all fog the morning we were there on our Mount Desert Island excursion, but James' dad told us about the nearby Pigeon Hill and we wouldn't trade the views we saw there! We also went up to Lubec/Campobello Island/Eastport and had an elegant meal at Helen's in Machias on the way back. We drove more of the Maine coast on our way back to Portland for our flight home, but you can't beat downeast Maine. Thanks for everything, James!
We had a wonderful time staying at this cottage in Milbridge.
First let me talk about the cottage. The cottage was the perfect size for our group of 5 and had everything you would need to be comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the long rocky beach on our daily walks and sitting on the deck. The property is very well maintained and private, with a good amount of space between the neighboring homes. Location wise, it is just a few minutes to town and not far from Bar Harbor.
The area was a lovely surprise. There were ample places to eat and go see. I recommend a drive up to Jasper Beach and Mexican food at Vazquez. There is a grocery store right in town and we found it had everything we could need.
All communications with the owner were excellent with super fast responses. The property owner's have family next door who were very nice and gave us some excellent suggestions on things to go see and places to eat during our stay. It was nice to have that resource nearby.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and will be planning on coming back.
We totally enjoyed our stay at this cottage. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The cottage is light and bright with a charming ocean decor, including framed posters to help guests identify the sea birds you see and the shells you find on the beach.
We found the owner and his father (who lives next door) to be friendly and welcoming. Jim next door was available if we had any questions or issues during our stay ( we had none as everything was perfect).
The cottage was clean, the kitchen well equipped, and there was a well stocked pantry. The beds were very comfortable.
Outside you find a wonderful view of the water from the deck, large yard or Adirondack chairs. During mid and low tide there is a large beach area to walk, or bring a chair down to and just relax. The property is quiet and private with just the sounds of birds, the waves, and the boats heading out to fish or haul lobsters and then returning home.
In town there is a grocery store and a number of restaurants and shops. Just be aware most places close between 7:30 and 8:00.
We truly had a lovely vacation at this cottage and it was hard to pack the car and head back home.
We loved staying here for vacation with our dog! The cottage was clean and well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed walking on the beach, picking up shells. Wear beach shoes because there are lots of shells and rocks. We had a fire in the fire pit, watching the beautiful sun set. All of our nights had gorgeous sunsets! We also had fun with a good game of Acadia Monopoly! The last day of our stay we had a good dinner at the 44 degrees North Pub in town. We really felt like we got away from our busy lives, listening only to nature, admiring the views, and truly relaxing.
Excellent experience. Great location. Our dog, comet, loved it also. Beautiful sunsets over the water!

About the host
Hosted by James Parker, 207-450-9543
Mike and Jennifer have been married over 20 years and have been blessed with six children. Mike's family hails from Milbridge and has been spending summers and vacationing there his entire life.
Why they chose this property
The privacy yet proximity to town make it a perfect location. When at the cottage you will hear very little other than the waves of the ocean and nature. The cottage is clean, comfortable and cozy.
What makes this property unique
The birds, deer (good luck not seeing deer every trip out) and other wild life is abundant and the sunsets are spectacular. For those not familiar with the extremely low and high tides in this part of the world, it is impressive to see. Low tide is a great opportunity for exploring!
