The Pono Kai Resort is located in a perfect spot for island visitors!! Located halfway along the coast between the resort towns of Poipu and Koloa Town on the South shore and Hanalei and Princeville on the North shore, making it a great starting point to explore the entire island. The property sits on 12 beachfront acres and offers plenty of amenities and entertainment options such as lighted tennis courts, basketball goals, a croquet lawn, shuffleboard courts, putting green, workout room, and refreshing pool with hot tub. The resort provides equipment that can be checked out as well.

This complex is literally within a 3 minute walk of downtown Kapaa, which provides numerous shops, restaurants, and bars for easy access and convenience

This unit features a private lanai with a stunning oceanfront setting, fully-equipped kitchen, free WiFi, cable TV, ceiling fans, one bedroom, 1 full bath with tub shower combination and more.

Also, this unit does not have air conditioning. While some visitors prefer AC, we have never found it necessary because of the East Trade Winds and the fact that we have pedestal fans and ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom. If you are someone who feels that they need AC, then we would suggest you look at other units. Opening the slider in the front and the bedroom windows will generally create plenty of breeze and makes the unit very comfortable.

We highly recommend that that you secure your rental car reservation PRIOR to booking this unit. Failure to be able to secure a rental car DOES NOT qualify as an exception to our standard cancellation policy.

Relaxing stay

We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed spending our time, whether relaxing on our balcony or down at the beach, walking a few blocks to restaurants, food trucks, or stores, or preparing meals in the kitchen or at nearby grills.

Great view and good facilities.

We had a lovely stay. The view of the ocean was beautiful. The resort had nice facilities we could use. The condo is almost directly on the beach. Good food and nice shops were just a few minutes walk away in kapaa.

Good location great view

Everything was good, clean and well stocked and comfortable. The unit could use some maintenance, one of the cabinets in the kitchen has tape holding on the veneer on one of the doors, the sliding glass door was hard to open and close. Even with these things we would definitely stay here again.

First time staying in Kapa’a as we usually stay in Princeville. Great location for us for a few days, as it was easy access to Lihue & south parts of the island. Beautiful ocean view from the deck/living room. Bright & airy with the windows open. Well equipped & nice amenities.

Kapaa Shores

The property is not 5 star, but the location and view is. Ocean front, nice lanai, workable floor plan, good bed, easy access. No air conditioning, but not really needed when the windows and sliding door are open. Enjoy Kauai! Property is as advertised, and we will likely return.

6 nights in paradise

We just got home from a wonderful stay in Kauai. The condo was just what we needed, and the ocean front view was gorgeous. We had awesome sunrises each morning, and a shaded patio all afternoon. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, and had boogie boards, beach chairs and a beach umbrella for our use. We also loved the location as it was close to Safeway, and many good restaurants (try the Macadamia Sea Bass at the Lemongrass Grill). Huma was always quick to respond to any questions, and the check in/out procedure was easy. We'll keep this on our list for future visits.

Could not have asked for anything better

We loved the awesome ocean view we had from our balcony. Everything was provided that you could possibly need. No need for A/C, as there was always a breeze to keep the unit cool. The resort also has many games and equipment that you can use free of charge. Walking distance to so many places.

Great location

Ideal location on the island. Close to everything you could need. Waking up to the view was amazing, but be prepared to have everyone on the bike path get a view of you as well. The walls are semi thin, I think I just got unlucky with neighbors that had loud voices. Unit was clean and had necessities stocked.

Perfect location with great ocean view

Very central location making it easy to visit North and South of beautiful Kawai. The on-site playgrounds are fun and all equipment is available at the pool area (tennis racquets, putter, etc.). Beach chairs and cooler are available in the studio which is very useful. Right in front is a very nice beach good for swimming and there is natural shade from the trees near the beach. Bike and walk path in front of the ocean is great! Restaurants and markets are situated nearby. The sunrise is amazing and makes nice pictures.

Great view but needs updating

Great view of the ocean. Clean for the most part (shower could use a good cleaning) the kitchen was nice but everything else was fairly run down and there was a strong musty odor. The bed was too soft (and it was quite warm in the bedroom) so we ended up sleeping on the pull out couch (which was actually fairly comfortable) The unit was quiet and the complex was nice. Some nice restaurants close by.

Great location

The location was great, but unfortunately the people staying above us we extemely noisy which was annoying. They had small children who spend a great deal of time running around and moving furniture. The resort was beautiful and conveniently located. The bedroom got a little warm at night and the vent in the bathroom needed a good cleaning. Everyone else was very clean though. Great condo well decorated but on the second floor and the people on the 3rd floor must have been holding a barn dance every day or there is no carpet on their floor so we got to hear every tine the scooted a chair around Not real nice

The property manager was very responsive and quick to come and replace a nonfunctioning TV for us. The location on this VRBO is outstanding. However, not having functioning air conditioning was a bigger deal than we anticipated. I thought, ocean breezes sound great! I had not thought through the fact that this means the door and windows needed to stay open at all times or it gets stifling hot. The problem with this is it also allows the rain in that occurred almost nightly, and everything feels damp and musty continuously. Also, the bedroom faces a common walkway, and the only way to allow the air flow to come through is to keep the curtains in front of the screens open. However, this means anyone walking past your room can see into your bedroom. There are fans available in the apartment, but without the door to the lanai and the windows open, they don’t provide much relief.

Very nice

Pona Kai Resort is a great place to vacation.Beautiful grounds.Close to the beach and all amenities. C204 has a fantastic ocean view with the beach 50 yards away. The condo was nice and comfortable. Could use a little updating. Be nice to have a lounge chair on the lanai and a newer coffee maker.The herd of elephants that was above us tended to be little annoying at times. But that's the risks you take if your not on the top floor. All in all a great stay. Would highly recommend. Thanks Huma.

Nice location, easy access to honalei and poipu side of the island. Property manager responded quickly to any questions as did Host. Which I appreciate.Ill be completely honest while it had the most amazing view the unit itself felt muggy and very hot consistently even with the winds blowing. I spent a lot of time at my sisters because the other unit she stayed in had a nice AC unit. while it was disclosed that my unit had no ac unit “Also, this unit does not have air conditioning.
