About this property
Comfy Cottage in Apalachicola; Easy Walk to Downtown!
Welcome to our cozy coastal cottage, perfectly situated just four walkable blocks from the heart of historic downtown Apalachicola's shops and restaurants. Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning to reconnect with the laid-back charm of Florida’s Forgotten Coast, our home offers a peaceful and thoughtfully appointed space for your stay.
The cottage is well-equipped and welcoming from the moment you arrive. There is ample parking space for two vehicles, or one vehicle and a 36-foot boat trailer. Out back, the shady, fully fenced yard offers both privacy and security, making it a great spot for your pup to roam or for you to unwind after a day out. The side garden, landscaped with native plants, is a quiet, relaxing place to sit with a cup of coffee and watch the birds drift through the trees.
Inside, the meticulously spotless cottage is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. Both bedrooms feature comfy beds (one king and one queen) with bedside charging stations, and the living room includes puzzles, board games, and a selection of books for your downtime. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook at home, and there’s a gas grill in the backyard for barbecues under the stars. We supply Culligan spring water, welcome snacks, and starter coffee and tea supplies. Both bathrooms are stocked with full-sized shampoo and conditioner bottles, and you’ll also find extra amenities for your dog, including food bowls, a feeding mat, drying towels and pick-up bags. For beach days, we’ve made it easy—just grab the beach towels, chairs, and umbrella we provide, and you’re ready to go. There are Smart TVs in the living room and both bedrooms, along with high-speed internet.
Our guests often tell us they fall in love with the comfort and care that this home provides. From the moment you step onto the porch to the last night beneath a sky full of stars, we hope you’ll feel not only welcome, but completely at home.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Katherine Westmark

My husband Jay and myself both grew up in Wakulla County, and after moving about for a few years, came back to Wakulla in 2001 to raise our two children (Emily and Jason). We restored a turn of the century home in Sopchoppy (about 45 minutes down the road from Apalachicola) in 2019, and moved in full time in 2021. We enjoy gardening, being on the water, small town life, and taking care of our dog Buddy and two cats, Binx and Ricky Bobby.
Why they chose this property
The previous owners purchased the cottage and auto repair shop in 2019 after Hurricane Michael. The house had been empty for years and needed a complete renovation. Trees had fallen on the two buildings and all over the yard. It was love at first sight. Daphne and Bobby meticulously renovated the cottage and then turned the auto repair shop into Daphne's art studio. Daphne and Bobby decided to sell the cottage in 2025, and when we came to see it, we too fell in love with the cottage and property. We loved Daphne's vibe and made the decision to continue her vision. The area is very quiet, which we loved, and the property feels very private. There is a small city park on one side, and the well-maintained Apalachicola Community Garden is just across the street from the park. The historic Chestnut Cemetery is directly across the street from the house. The area is very walkable with heritage trees and quiet streets, and is just four blocks from the vibrant and quaint downtown.
What makes this property unique
The front porch overlooks the historic Chestnut Cemetery which is graced with Live Oaks dripping with moss framed with the original iron fences. It’s a picturesque and peaceful scene to enjoy while sitting on the pair of comfy chairs on the porch or while in the dining area off the kitchen. The backyard and garden areas are quiet and peaceful, and great spaces to sit and relax. The property is very close to the vibrant downtown area; just a 4 block walk and it's sidewalks all the way.
