About this property
WE DO NOT ACCEPT 2026 RESERVATIONS UNTIL JANUARY
WE ACCEPT RESERVATIONS by the week only, Sat-Sat
We do have a no-pet policy for guest tenants
Popover is one of 4 cottages available on this large waterfront property. It has a bit of height over the cove and Blue Hill Bay.
The living space faces south and west for spectacular sunset views. There is a brand new West Elm sleep sofa in the main living room. The sleeping loft hosts a king bed. Access is a very sturdy ladder-like stairway.
The kitchen is creatively functional. A single burner unit, electric frypan, large toaster oven, mini microwave, large dorm-style fridge, and deck-side BBQ make this a great space for easy-peasy cooks. Coffee maker & tea kettle included.
Other cottages on this property include:
Barnacle (sleeps 4), RabbitHole (sleeps 4-5), & Boathouse (2)

We rent Saturday to Saturday, only! OPEN UNTIL mid-OCTOBER
We would love to secure your vacation time on MDI here at Barnacle Landing. The VRBO connections have been wonderful and everyone has expressed their wonder and amazement at our best-kept secret, the cottages on the bay. Renters are still saying this place 'exceeds expectations'. What else can we say? Come see for yourselves.
This family-run property offers quiet respite steps from Acadia National Park. The cottages are kid-friendly and have great decks for sunsets, b-b-qs, and playing. (Sorry, no pets) The surrounding woods are nature's masterpiece quintessential Maine. There is lots more we offer, email me for details of Barnacle Landing, on the WESTSIDE of MDI off Tremont Road.
The property is 1500 feet of shoreline and the cove proves to be a great place to explore Maine marine life and geology. Nearby, Pretty Marsh is chock full of places to explore in our kayaks and rowboats. The harbor is home to seals, porpoises, great blue herons, osprey, and frequent eagles. Fishing and crabbing is always a great way to spend your time.
If you like to swim in the ocean, there are ladders at the dock and a gravel beach to wander in and out of the waves. Of course, there are warmer ponds and lakes very nearby, too.
The 40 acres surrounding the cottages are full of woodsy pathways and mossy areas for exploring. There are mussels to collect at low tide and you can steam your own lobsters on the deck of your house. And, SUNSET is an amazing feature here on the west side of Mount Desert Island.

About the host
Hosted by Sheila Eddison

My husband, David, & I have lived on MDI since 2008. We made a life switch from 'the city' and love this place. We are lucky to have work in winter to sustain us- that is the challenge on MDI. Treat the locals with respect, they give it their all in summer!
Why they chose this property
This camp has been in the family for over 60 years. It's very well maintained and improved- it's stellar for a cottage in the Maine woods, on the WEST SIDE of MDI where the sunset rocks. No musty smells! Perfect wood stove with well-stocked firewood make Fall the perfect time to visit.
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet of the woods and shore are fabulous. Access to the National Park and coming home to Barnacle Landing is worth every mile you travel
