Lovely property, beautiful location, quiet, private. Cottage very comfortable and well-appointed. Hosts were welcoming and gracious. Truly a wonderful place.
Grant and Becky are wonderful hosts and they have a very special place. We loved every minute of our stay. I especially loved the beautiful views from our gorgeous cottage. There is nothing like going to sleep on a cool evening listening to the waves splash against the seashore. We will be back! A
We loved our stay at Grant and Becky's cottage! The cottage is so comfortable and very, very clean. The beautiful grounds and spectacular view made it such a relaxing place to come back to after hiking and biking. We cooked a fair amount while there, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Feeding apples to the deer was also daily bonus. But mostly, we really appreciated our gracious hosts. Grant and Becky went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and made us feel right at home! We hope to return!
We came for the ocean view. What we got was the famous Maine coast, the most comfortable and well appointed cabin, a beautiful landscape and garden, and the sweetest most gracious hosts. A wonderful base to explore Acadia and all of the towns and harbors.

So glad you came and enjoyed. Thank you for your organic gift. We'd love to see you again.
Another great vacation which flew by much too quickly! The setting, yard, and gardens are perfect, the views are awesome. The cottage is great, with everything I needed for my week’s stay. Thank you!
We had a beautiful week in Acadia, and having this lovely cottage as our home base made it all the more special. The bed and linens were exceptionally comfortable, and the rain shower was a luxurious treat. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed — from sharp knives to a salad spinner! We loved the stunning views and the peaceful sight of deer grazing regularly in the yard. And our host was extremely warm, friendly, and helpful. Having stayed in many homes and cottages in Southwest Harbor over the years, we can honestly say this was one of the most memorable. A truly special place!
It was across the board wonderful. I’m hesitant to post this out of the fear of bringing attention to this amazing property and making it more popular.

Thanks. It was great to have you both here. Come back before it's too popular!
Everything about our stay was wonderful! The cottage is comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The view is beautiful. The hosts are kind. We saw deer and bald eagles right from the porch. The sound of the waves was so soothing. A great place to stay!!!
Me and my wife first visit to the Acadia-Bar Harbor area.
The cottage was a perfect place to have easy access to
the area. It was quite with beautiful views of the ocean.
The cottage met all our expectations and hope to stay again on our next visit to the area. Grant and Becky the cottage owners were great and very hospitable. After staying one week it is easy to understand why this cottage gets such great ratings.
Everything we expected and more! This was the perfect getaway: serene, peaceful, beautiful, private, and very relaxing. We hope to come back in the future and enjoy the wonderful island of Mt. Desert from this location. The hosts, Grant and Becky, are friendly and thoughtful, and they made us feel right at home!

Couple in our Sixties
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week at Seawall. The newly renovated cabin is in a great quiet location just yards from the sea and within easy travelling distance to S.West Harbor and hiking all around Acadia. The place is tastefully done, with everything you need for comfort, warmth and any kind of cooking. We'd highly recommend it for couples or single people of any ages.

Exceeds Expectations!
My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying at quite a few wonderful places from Portland to Lubec. Seawall Cottage at Stone Beach is truly a gem! The location is spectacular with the overall property being serene, offering great views and the pictures of the grounds do not do justice for the beauty this place offers.
It's no wonder the reviews are so high, the 5 stars are deserved. My wife and I will definitely plan a return trip to this wonderful spot on Mount Desert Island.

Thanks so much for staying with us. As the first guests of the the season, you were troupers to live through the water heater's failure with great tolerance and style. Please come back and join our regulars!
The cottage, property, and surrounding area far exceeded our expectations. Grant and Becky’s property is beautiful, and their care of it meticulous. Especially appreciated the well outfitted kitchen, books about local topics, comfy bed and linens, cannot express enough that every detail of the cottage was perfect. Only wish we’d scheduled two weeks to enjoy the oceans views, lovely garden, deer and fawns, mama mallard and her chicks popping their heads out each morning on our way into Acadia—a true slice of heaven. Thank you for having us.
One word pretty much sums it up - “WOW!” I’ve rented many a house and it’s all too rare to have reality turn out better than the photos, reviews and pictures, but this one did - by miles. The property is stunning, the sound of the ocean is ever-present, the cottage is clean and has everything - including brilliantly sharp knives and a sharpener. A rare thing indeed. And on top of all of it, Grant and Becky are lovely and warm and beyond welcoming. A total pleasure and joy of a week - in one of my favorite places. Wow indeed.

Wonderful cottage, Wonderful vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Seawall cottage close to Southwest Harbor. The cottage was delightful, comfortable and a pleasure to call home for a week. The view was amazing and a wonder to see first thing each morning. The deer were welcome visitors a few times during our stay! The cottage was well appointed and the bathroom was beyond amazing. We have visited the Acadia National Park area a few times and this was the best place we ever stayed and was very reasonably priced. The town of Southwest Harbor had wonderful restaurants and services. Whereas it was a little difficult to get in and out of the town due to road construction, the peacefulness and quietness of this part of the island was well worth the minor inconvenience. When we travel back to the area, my husband and I will definitely stay at this cottage if available. I only wish Grant had a larger property for rent here so we could bring the whole family!

So glad you enjoyed the place. The Fall is a beautiful time of year if the weather cooperates and it's a perfect time to explore all day and build a fire and keep cozy at night. The cottage seems to be just what a couple needs for a week. Sorry we can't accomodate more people. Past visitors with families have rented a second place nearby and loved being alone sometimes and together at other times. Come back next year!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Becky and Grant's cottage. The cottage feels more like a home than a rental property; it is well cared for and it is clear that thought went into everything from the design of the home to the linens they put on the comfortable mattress. It is situated on an exceedingly beautiful piece of property with ocean views, a small pond, and tasteful landscaping. We enjoyed spending our mornings and evenings on the front porch, which overlooked the ocean. Becky and Grant went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and felt comfortable.
Although it is about 30 minutes to get to Bar Harbor, there are restaurants and shops in Southwest Harbor, which is only about 10 minutes away. We also found that there were a number of hikes (e.g., Acadia Mountain and St. Sauveur's Mountain trail) to explore closer to the cottage. We enjoyed taking a day trip to Cranberry Island using a ferry that departs from Southwest Harbor.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage and hope to be back in the future! One of our best rental experiences to date.

Thanks for your really special review. We love hosting guests and sharing our piece of paradise. Love to have you come back.
We had an awesome time in Southwest Harbor. The cottage was exactly as advertised. Beautiful ocean views and Betsy was so very generous with her time and kindness. We are ready to go back. Thank-you for the wonderful place to stay.

We enjoyed Stone Beach cottage very much! Everything was so comfortable: the bed, the sofa, the cozy throw, the fully equipped kitchen. We loved the views of the morning skies and colors over the ocean with our morning coffee. Our stay was during the most intense colors of fall.
Becky and Grant were unusually gracious hosts. Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Grant Castle
Owners on property in main house on the 3 acre estate. We live here about half of the year. Our son is grown and on his own, so it is very quiet here.
Why they chose this property
Our family has vacationed and lived in the area for generations, so it was preordained that we would end up somewhere nearby. When we had a chance to buy this place we jumped on it.
What makes this property unique
We found this property 24 years ago abandoned because of the time and expense it takes to keep an oceanfront property up to date. It took us 21 years to get it right, but now it is a truly first class environment.
