Comfortable one level living overlooking the harbor
Built in 1850, remodeled in 1989 for a comfortable lifestyle, all on one floor! Right across the street from Rockport Opera house, with a sunny southern exposure and a wrap around porch. Walk easily to 18 Central and the Nina June Cafe in the same block. This would be a great house to rent while taking a class at The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship or the Maine Media Workshop. Perfect too for attending the Bay Chamber concerts right across the street in the Opera House or at Union Hall . The house has a number of comfy chairs for sitting and reading, and a desk situated next to a window overlooking the harbor for writing. It is a restful house, but there are plenty of adventures to be had in the surrounding Camden hills or inland- day sails on a schooner, hiking, kayaking. Our two bedrooms each open onto the kitchen/dining area, and each has a full bathroom. Each one has an air conditioner, although it is rarely needed. How many times we visited here in the summer, leaving a hot steamy Boston, and found Rockport chilled by a fog bank. Mom would say, 'Always bring a sweater when you come to Maine!' This house is perfect for two couples on a getaway weekend, or as a home base during a longer visit to New England. We have all the linens you need, and a well supplied kitchen for cooks. Soap is supplied as well as access to washer and dryer.

We loved this house and the location was superb! Ruth was great to work with and she made sure our trip was the most enjoyable. So many places to visit and tons of information on where to go in Ruth’s guide. Just a beautiful spot in Rockport Harbor!

These plucky guests had considered cancelling their four day getaway due to a rainy weather forecast. Instead, they persevered, discovering a wonderful but lesser known museum just 40 minutes north. Fog and rain are just as natural to a real Maine summer as bright blue days. Thank you for coming!
About the host
Hosted by Ruth Wall
We are husband and wife working in health care fields, living about 30 minutes inland from Rockport. We moved up from the Boston area as empty nesters, to help care for elderly parents in their last years.
Why they chose this property
Our parents purchased this house when it was in poor condition in the '70s, and rehabilitated it for their retirement home. It has new floors and a whole new floor plan, with a nod to historic details like the beautiful old paneling around the fireplace. It is on one level with only three stairs to come in from outdoors. We loved bringing our children here to visit their grandparents, and took many walks around the harbor. We have seen others enjoy the location as much as we have, since we began vacation renting in 2014. Please read the many positive reviews we've earned.
What makes this property unique
The house is not grand looking from the street, but you have a wonderful view of the harbor once in it. Having a choice between open air on the deck, or the screened porch, in addition to the view from the living room is a pleasure.
