About this property

A-frame cabin by the bay with kayak!

Ideal for the adventurous outdoors type only! Small minimalist A-frame cabin in the woods, overlooking Taunton Bay. A short but steep 1 minute hike to the cabin makes it feel even more secluded. Tandem kayak on the bay 2 minute walk away. Queen sleeping loft accessible only by ladder, 3/4 bath, efficient kitchen, 42" TV/DVD player, games. On a quiet private road 30 minutes to Acadia national park. 10 minutes to Ellsworth. NO WIFI. Calender is ACCURATE, check before messaging!
The space
Very unique spot, this small minimalist cabin is perched on a rocky hillside to allow a view over the forest and across the bay. This spot is ideal for the more rugged and adventurous outdoorsy type, as you must hike up to the cabin. It's just a minute or two from the parking area, but it IS steep, and you must expect to haul all your luggage and groceries up there. It has most of the modern conveniences but does NOT have a wifi connection and while there is a large HD TV there is no cable or streaming service, but there is a DVD player and a HDMI cord, as well as a limited selection of movies (we have a great Steven King collection, the original Pet Semetary was filmed just 3 miles away!) The cabin is small but perfect for a couple. There is a very comfortable queen size mattress in the sleep loft which is only accessible by ladder. Huge beanbags make an excellent place to flop and relax. Small bathroom with shower, toilet, hand sink, & mirror. There is plenty of hot water. The kitchen has a 20" propane range & oven, small sink, 3 cubic foot mini-fridge, coffemaker and a small freezer. All the cooking basics are there, as well as pots, pans, silverware, & dishes. There is a hammock outside and great views from the hilltop above the cabin. Tucked near the end of a quiet gravel road in a wooded neighborhood a 10 minute drive to Ellsworth, 25 minute drive the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park, and 30 minute drive to the Bar Harbor section of the park. Great hiking just minutes away at a number of public and private preserves with excellent trails. There is a tandem kayak with life jackets and paddles to explore the bay, which is home to seals, fish, eagles, herons, horseshoe crabs, and lobsters. Great place to unplug and recharge yourself!
