About this property
Modern post & beam, mountain views. Minutes from Lake Champlain, near Sugarbush
"Maplecrest" is the name of our sun filled post and beam vacation house, the perfect place for a family or group of friends to enjoy year round! Pick up your provisions and produce at Gilfeathers gourmet general store (2 miles), in Vergennes (4 miles), Shelburne (12 miles), or Middlebury (17 miles) then relax on the beautiful deck with a view, or warm up on the comfy couch by the fire. Or, simply spend hours soaking in the pastoral farm landscape with the Green Mountains to the south and Adirondacks to the west.
Cookout on the grill, and use the expansive modern kitchen to create farm to table dishes to serve in the open concept dining room and/or outside on the deck. Enjoy the loft as a private hangout space with great views. Explore the gardens and field on a peaceful walk or snowshoe to the pond where flora and fauna abound. Enjoy paddling around Lake Champlain in a kayak or canoe launched from Kingsland Bay State Park in the summer. Slip into the hot tub after skiing, hiking, biking or paddling, then play games in this bright and spacious home.

About the host
Hosted by Joshua Reynolds
Kate and Josh are from Charlestown MA, but our family has lived in the Champlain Valley for generations, and we've vacationed and lived in Vermont since we were young.
Why they chose this property
Ferrisburgh, Vergennes, and Shelburne are towns that are abundant with farms, pastures and rolling hills with views of the Adirondacks to the west and the Green Mountains to the east, all along the shores of the 125-mile Lake Champlain. As is true with so much of Vermont, each town features top-notch farm-to-table restaurants, local breweries, farms, orchards and sights. Middlebury is just 15 minutes away and Burlington a 30 minute drive. Both offer top-rated restaurants, pubs, shopping and galleries. You'll find skiing and snowshoeing in winter, leaf-peeping and Fall activities in the Autumn, swimming, boating, hiking, sight-seeing and relaxing in the summer. For skiing, Mad River is a 45 minute drive on Route 17 and Sugarbush Resort is 50 minutes. Killington is an hour to the south.
What makes this property unique
Situated on 11 acres of woods and pastures at the foot of Shellhouse Mountain, Maplecrest is a sun-filled, laid-back place for a family to relax and explore the Champlain Valley. The open post-and-beam architecture provides a great place for family or friends to gather. The large deck overlooks rolling fields of neighboring farms with views of the Green Mountains and Adirondacks in the background. Bring your canoe or kayak to explore the coast of Lake Champlain from Kingsland Bay and picnic at any of the local state parks. Hike Mt Philo nearby for amazing views or simply meander down paths in the meadows, check out the frog pond, and let your dogs romp in the enclosed dog run.
