We had the best stay, this property is gorgeous and very welled cared for. This was a perfect choice for a family wedding we were attending at Basin Harbor. This location had everything we needed and more.
Absolutely stunning property - both grounds, and house are designed beautifully with an awesome open family area, chefs kitchen with everything you need, and separate sitting areas. Beautiful deck and farm country that surrounds it. Lots of full bedrooms and spacious laundry room. Entire property so well designed.
Maplecrest was absolutely a breath taking location and everything (and more) than what we expected. We talked about even trying to come back as this was a great experience from booking, thru checking, the stay, and check out. Highly recommend!
I cant say enough wonderful things about “Maplecest”. The home is beautiful with open main floor and bedrooms up and downstairs. All beds were very comfortable. Main floor has large windows with beautiful views of trees, fields and mountains. Lots of spots inside and outside (on deck) to relax and take in the views - watch the birds in the trees and at the feeders and listen to the frogs in the pond. Fully equipped, large kitchen, was easy to prepare meals for an entire family and friends. Our family LOVED the many board games available and the books throughout the house just added to lovely atmosphere.
Remote location, but easy to get to lots of local points of interest.
We were here for University of Vermont Commencement and drove to Burlington every day for three days. Pretty enjoyable drive with interesting vistas.
Great communication with owner Josh who left complete instructions (with a welcoming gift basket of VT goodies). He even left phone number in case we needed it (we did not) and also had clear communications through messages on VRBO.
Ive rented about 10 homes as vacation homes and “Maplecrest” is #1 for me. Thanks Josh.

Kate and Josh are from Charlestown MA, but our family has lived in the Champlain Valley for generations, and we've vacationed and lived in Vermont since we were young.
Why they chose this property
Ferrisburgh, Vergennes, and Shelburne are towns that are abundant with farms, pastures and rolling hills with views of the Adirondacks to the west and the Green Mountains to the east, all along the shores of the 125-mile Lake Champlain. As is true with so much of Vermont, each town features top-notch farm-to-table restaurants, local breweries, farms, orchards and sights. Middlebury is just 15 minutes away and Burlington a 30 minute drive. Both offer top-rated restaurants, pubs, shopping and galleries. You'll find skiing and snowshoeing in winter, leaf-peeping and Fall activities in the Autumn, swimming, boating, hiking, sight-seeing and relaxing in the summer. For skiing, Mad River is a 45 minute drive on Route 17 and Sugarbush Resort is 50 minutes. Killington is an hour to the south.
What makes this property unique
Situated on 11 acres of woods and pastures at the foot of Shellhouse Mountain, Maplecrest is a sun-filled, laid-back place for a family to relax and explore the Champlain Valley. The open post-and-beam architecture provides a great place for family or friends to gather. The large deck overlooks rolling fields of neighboring farms with views of the Green Mountains and Adirondacks in the background. Bring your canoe or kayak to explore the coast of Lake Champlain from Kingsland Bay and picnic at any of the local state parks. Hike Mt Philo nearby for amazing views or simply meander down paths in the meadows, check out the frog pond, and let your dogs romp in the enclosed dog run.
