A much needed time out

Jimmy was very quick to respond to any questions we had. This home was stocked with everything you would possibly need. His wife Robyn left for us a box of Girl Scouts cookies for the children which they really enjoyed. Thank you Robyn! We all had a great time.

Quiet and surrounded by nature

Jimmy & Robyn are fantastic hosts. Communication was quick. The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Watched deer grazing while on the porch drinking my morning coffee. If we are ever in need of accommodations in that area again, I will call them first.

Keweenaw Peninsula Stay

My husband and I stayed for a week at this location. It was a great location for all of the exploring we did around the peninsula, which included fishing the smaller lakes and rock hounding on the shores of Lake Superior. The back screened in porch is where we spent most of our time when we were at the cabin. Jimmy was available for any questions we had about the area. Very nice to meet you Jimmy. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet your wife.

Great people!

Jimmy and Robin were immensely helpful and fun to talk to. They know the area well and are always available to help with directions and suggestions. They own other homes in the area, too. The cabin is quite rustic. It reminded me of our family cottage, years ago, with the uneven floors that seem to squish when you walk on them. There were lots of board games, puzzles, etc. You need to be realistic when you book this property. The entire region is full of old homes and lots of history. The property is old like the many other old homes in the area, and because of the age, can be a tad musty. At night, you will hear critters in the walls. We did not see any evidence of droppings, though. My one suggestion would be to gut the kitchen cabinets because there is no way to get them clean looking. It can be a bit off-putting when you walk in, because they are so old. A good scrubbing might help, along with a coat of paint. There is a big refrigerator, an electric stove that can be a bit finicky and a dishwasher that worked well. Anything you need is supplied, which is great, since stores are not close. Having a new bar of soap in the bathrooms was a great touch. Paper towel, aluminum foil, were very welcome. They have lots and lots of towels and sheets. They could use a few more coffee cups- strangely, 3 of our coffee cups had tiny cracks in them. Not sure why, but we started to feel the cups were trick cups! Funny! They do have lots of plates and bowls, kitchen towels, etc. Wonderful people run this rental, we will be staying in touch and wish them well.

Copper Country Stay

The cabin was clean, stocked well and is a great location if your looking for somewhere quiet. Plenty of fans to keep air moving when it was warmer and the house cool. The screened in porch is a great concept, I just wished there was more comfy furniture there and in the living room. After days exploring, I wanted to just put my feet up and relax.

Relaxing Stay close to lots of activities!

We enjoyed our stay at Jimmy's lake! He was very responsive to our questions and also helped with recommendations as to what to do around us. We were also right next to an inland lake which we were able to fish at and the location was secluded yet very close to Houghton and the rest of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We also loved watching his VHS tape collection! We would definitely recommend staying here :)

Little slice of heaven!

We were absolutely blown away by this property! It was so secluded and beautiful. Our group especially loved all of the canoes & kayaks that were provided to go out on the lake. The house itself was extremely spacious & stocked with everything you could possibly need, even for 5 adults. The owners were so very kind and we hope to be back next year.

Quiet and Peaceful

We enjoyed making this property our home base for all the things we wanted to see in the Keweenaw Peninsula. After a long day we looked forward to winding down on the screened in porch and listening to sounds of nature. This was perfect for our needs.

Why they chose this property

Located on a small inland lake one mile west of the Lake Superior beach at Big Traverse, this home is one of only 3 houses on the whole Little Rice Lake. It is as private as any other place on the two lake chain. It comes with a nice beach house only feet from the shore. Deer and wild turkeys are seen on the property almost daily. It is close to towns and other things to do in the Keweenaw. History of the old mining days is everywhere. You can take tours into several mines. You can visit old ghost towns. You can pick blueberries in the yard or at a pick your own farm down the road. Wild berries of all kinds are available on plenty of public ground. Fish from the dock or canoe, kayak, boat or shore. Hunting for many birds and animals is only a short walk or ride away from the house. This is not located within a town. The closest town is 7 miles away. Your hosts are very familiar with the entire area and are very helpful in helping you plan your vacation. Many have said this was the best vacation that they have ever had. We hope you can say that one day soon. Come vacation at our home.

What makes this property unique

This property is located a short walk from our vrbo/ homeaway rental #7145720 if extra accommodations are desired.
We also have a third property available nearby, vrbo 2017462, a secluded cabin which includes Little Rice Lake access via our other properties. It is a short drive or bike ride away.
