Step into the living storybook of Old San Juan: pastel-hued colonial buildings, secret courtyards, and cobblestone streets that lead you past buzzing cafés, artisan shops, and hidden murals.
Stroll to Plaza de Armas or the historic San Juan Cathedral in minutes—every corner feels like its own vibrant postcard.
On Foot: Old San Juan was made for wandering—most attractions, restaurants, and bars are a 5–10 min walk away.
Parking: We include one secure garage spot, but street parking is very limited. Metered spots and paid garages are sprinkled nearby if you need extras.
Ride-Shares & Taxis: For longer trips (Condado, Isla Verde), Uber and taxis are readily available at street level.
Fountain Mansion is a grandfathered, city-protected historic property, so you’re literally sleeping in a piece of Old San Juan’s past.
Because it dates back decades (if not centuries!), you may notice:
• As a preserved historic property, the original clay tiles have been pressure-washed clean but retain gentle wear—that authentic patina is part of the home’s charm.
• Subtle imperfections: slight floor-tile irregularities, gentle wear on woodwork, and door hinges that creek just a bit. These are not defects but part of its authentic colonial character.
• Quirky charm: uneven thresholds, slightly wavy walls, and occasional echoes in the high-ceilinged rooms—small reminders that this home has its own personality.
• Ambient sounds: you’ll hear distant church bells, festive parades, and lively street chatter from time to time. It’s all part of the vibrant old-city atmosphere. Expect ambient city sounds and the lively spirit of Puerto Rico’s oldest neighborhood.
• Safety Cautions: When the fountain is running, the surrounding floor may get slippery—mind your footing; the staircase to the upper floors —please use caution on each step; on the rooftop, avoid the plastic-marked glass ceiling above the fountain room—it’s not load-bearing and should not be walked on.
By choosing Fountain Mansion, you accept and celebrate these historic quirks. They’re not flaws to fix but features to cherish—testament to centuries of San Juan life, preserved under the city’s historic-district protections.
• Treat this home like your own: please leave it as you found it.
• No parties or events: strictly no gatherings beyond your registered guests.
• No shoes indoors: help protect our original clay-tile floors—feel free to wear socks or slippers.
• No rearranging furniture or fixtures: all decor is part of the historic charm.
• Please tidy up: wash dishes before check-out and dispose of trash in the bins.
• Report issues promptly: let us know immediately about any accidental damage or maintenance concerns.
