The property was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated, creating a very welcoming atmosphere. It was a bit farther from the beach than I expected, but still in a nice location.Upon arrival, the A/C was not working, which ideally should have been checked beforehand. However, the owner responded quickly and provided clear instructions that resolved the issue. Later, we returned from visiting family to find the water was out—likely due to the recent thunderstorm, similar to the A/C problem. While unexpected, the owner again addressed the matter promptly.The home was stocked with only a few towels though. I had anticipated beach towels as well, but this wasn’t a major concern. The only lingering inconvenience was the water temperature; after a long drive, a hot shower would have been appreciated, but the water never reached more than lukewarm.Overall, the property is lovely, and the owner is responsive and helpful. With a few improvements to pre‑arrival checks and amenities, the stay would be even better.

We stayed here for a Cape Charles getaway weekend. It was a nice property with all we needed. We had a slight issue with getting inside, but the owner was available and kindly helped us right away. We loved the fire pit and the beds were very comfortable. Very close to Kiptopeke and a short drive to Cape Charles.

Overall, the rental was just okay. The biggest issue was the cleanliness. There was hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor, and if there hadn’t been clean towels folded on the bed, I wouldn’t have believed it had been cleaned. There was also an opened bag of candy left on the kitchen counter when we arrived, which made the cleaning feel even less thorough.There was a strong mildew smell throughout the property, and the bathroom constantly smelled like a sewer, likely from the drains or hard water. Those odors were noticeable for our entire stay.The advertised fire pit was covered in grass and unusable, and we found damaged chairs both in the front and back of the property. We stayed during a heat advisory, and although the AC worked, it appeared to be on a programmed setting that shut off or raised the temp overnight and in the morning. We repeatedly woke up drenched in sweat.On the positive side, I appreciated having a washer and dryer to clean our beach towels after each beach day, and the grill was a nice amenity that let us enjoy dinner at the rental one evening.My biggest recommendation would be to deep clean the property after each guest and address the mildew and sewer odors, as those were the biggest drawbacks. Better attention to cleanliness and maintenance would make for a much better stay.

At first we were elated to get away with family and our kids. Once arriving we weren’t expecting to be so far from everything as main attractions. Having kids it would have been nice to know for the price we weren’t getting a tv. The ac had a set temp, which isn’t ideal for the temp of Virginia currently. It made it extremely uncomfortable, including sleeping at night. The main bedroom smelled like it was stale or had cats mark the beds. There were dead bug subside of the fridge, and around the house. The fire pit pictured was what made us actually get the home and we for s’mores kits. The grass was soooo tall we couldn’t even see the pit upping arrival. The grass wasn’t cut. No working water or ice in the fridge. And we weren’t aware the was not going to be an oven for the food we purchased. Just not a good first experience using VRBO. Contacted the owner as soon as we got here it took over 24 hours to hear back about ants. We purchased ant spray for a a place we pay a cleaning free for? Please please make a better description for the property. The inside looks pretty

Because our home is located in a quiet, rural setting, bugs can occasionally find their way indoors, particularly if doors are left open for extended periods. However, we take cleanliness seriously and have already addressed the ants, completed the necessary outdoor maintenance, and resolved the issues with the temperature and the refrigerator's water and ice dispenser. We also thoroughly inspected the master bedroom and found no remaining odor, but we will continue to monitor it. Regarding the amenities, our listing explicitly notes that the property does not feature a traditional oven or television, which is also reflected in our kitchen and house photos. Our location is provided on the listing map so guests can plan their itineraries accordingly, but we will review our description to make both the location and the amenities even clearer for future travelers. We take your concerns seriously and are using your feedback to improve our property. Once again, we apologize that your experience did not go as planned. We strive to provide a clean, comfortable, and peaceful retreat, and we hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to host you in the future.
