Welcome to Lutsen Solitude — your North Shore home base for adventure, relaxation and everything Lutsen has to offer.

Tucked into a quiet setting just off Ski Hill Road, Lutsen Solitude puts you in the heart of Minnesota’s North Shore. Spend the day skiing at Lutsen Mountains, hiking the Superior Hiking Trail, exploring waterfalls and Lake Superior, or wandering the shops and restaurants of Grand Marais — then come home to a comfortable, private place to unwind.

The home offers plenty of room for families, couples and friends traveling together, with inviting gathering spaces, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sleeping accommodations and the amenities you need to settle in and enjoy your stay. Large windows bring in the surrounding Northwoods setting, while the fireplace makes the living area an especially great place to relax after a day outside.

One of the things we love about this location is how easy it is to experience the area without feeling like you're staying in the middle of a resort. You're close to Lutsen Mountains, Lake Superior, hiking, biking, golf, restaurants and year-round outdoor recreation, while the home itself sits in a quieter residential setting.

In warmer months, spend your days hiking, golfing, biking, exploring the shoreline or making the short drive up Highway 61 to Grand Marais. When the snow arrives, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are all close at hand.

Back at the house, make dinner together, fire up the grill, settle in by the fireplace, stream a movie, or simply enjoy a slower evening surrounded by the North Shore woods.

This cabin is in a great location and had everything we needed! Loved how quiet it was and the back deck that has a partially screened in portion. We appreciated that the kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked. It was a comfy place to come back to after a day out adventuring!

This was a beautiful property. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed. The back porch had an amazing view and so many options, with the screened in porch. It was even better than the pictures and description. Highly recommend it!

This was our third year in a row staying in this wonderful cabin. It never disappoints which is why we keep coming back. The space is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. If there ever was an issue, I know Jo would be very responsive and take care of it promptly. A wonderful host and a beautiful cabin. It’s a win-win!

It’s a beautiful cabin, very clean and well kept, well stocked and very cozy! It was the perfect location for our Lutsen ski vacation as it was only a few minutes away. Also close to a great winery. We’re Joseph and Heather, and we’re excited to welcome you to Lutsen Solitude! We’ve spent years visiting Lutsen and Minnesota’s North Shore and have always loved everything this area has to offer. After many stays here ourselves, we had the opportunity to make Lutsen Solitude our own and couldn’t pass it up.

We live in the Twin Cities and love getting north whenever we can. We’re hands-on owners and manage the property ourselves, so when you reach out, you’re communicating directly with us. Our goal is pretty simple: provide a comfortable, welcoming place to stay and help our guests have a great North Shore experience.

Why they chose this property

We love this location because it gives us the best of both worlds. Lutsen Solitude is tucked into a quiet, wooded setting, but we’re just minutes from Lutsen Mountains, Highway 61 and Lake Superior. Hiking, skiing, golf, biking and countless North Shore adventures are right outside the door, while Grand Marais is an easy drive up the shore. We love being close to everything while still having a peaceful place to come home to at the end of the day.

What makes Lutsen Solitude special is the combination of location, privacy and space. It’s a standalone home in a quiet wooded setting, giving you room to spread out and relax without the feel of a busy resort or condo. At the same time, you’re just minutes from Lutsen Mountains, Lake Superior and some of the best outdoor recreation on the North Shore. It’s a comfortable place to gather with family and friends, unwind after a day of adventure, and truly make yourself at home while you’re here.
