About this property

1800s Log Cabin with modern amenities conveniently located.

The Homestead Cabin's main living area is an original 200 year old cabin. One of the oldest structures in the county. Over the years additions were made and modern conveniences were added. This is all ONE unit. It is spread out, but still one unit. The historic log cabin now has 3 bedrooms, including a sleeping loft and 3 full baths. One king size, two queen size and one twin bed. There is also a full eat-in kitchen in addition to the formal dining room which is in the historic part of the cabin. Relax in the hot tub and stay connected with wireless internet. There is a large family room on the left end. This is all part of this one unit. It is a large room with plenty of room for games or a great way to separate the adults from the children.

If you're looking for an authentic rustic log cabin, this is it. There is something special about walking in the front door to the aroma of a wood burning fire. Sit in the historic living room next to the beautiful stone fireplace that climbs to the top of the cathedral ceiling of this cozy room.

The cabin is centrally located in an area convenient to Hendersonville and Asheville NC. It is easily accessible to Hwy 25 (less than 1/2 mile) just off of a main road but hidden away in the woods. The authenticity of the cabin gives it a unique feeling and aroma of years past. Although it has additions for more modern facilities, it holds true to the 'cabin in the woods' feeling. This is not a newly constructed log cabin. It is a true 1800's log cabin with additions. Therefore, things are not perfect. The floors may creak and aren't level in places, and there are little quirks but it all gives way to the 'warm & cozy with plenty of room' that makes the cabin unique and authentic. You will get the feel of what it was like to live in a cabin in the 1800's, but have the comforts of this century. If you are looking for 'abundantly fancy with frills', this is not it. But, if it is relaxation and comfort with rustic thrown in that is convenient to most everything the area has to offer, I would love to have you as my guest. You'll love its original quirkyness and unique passages from room to room. Other guest continue to use the term 'cozy, with lots of room'.
Nestled among 80 foot tall hardwoods but only 5 miles from Main Street Hendersonville, 7 miles from the Asheville Airport, and 30 minutes from downtown Asheville.
Experience a taste of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Appalachia from the 1800's with modern conveniences. There is often white & brown squirrels, hawks, Pileated Woodpeckers, ground Hogs, turkeys, sometimes deer and a bear has walked through a couple of times. Check in is 3:30 PM or after. If no one is checking out the same day you are checking in, I can work with you for an earlier check in time. Check out is no later than 10 AM to give my housekeeper time to clean up.

Wonderful place to stay. Very rustic, but do not recommend for people with allergies or asthma. It is very old and musty and did cause allergy flareups for a couple of the guys because of the mustiness of the old cabin. Other than that, it is the cleanest rustic cabin I’ve ever seen and had a very comfortable homey feel.

This is a real log cabin, so you get the things that are a part of an authentic log cabin - quaint and fun, but musty, low ceilings/ doorways. Allergies were an issue. The area has lots of junk cars at the neighbors '. It can be hard to find, the GPS doesn't get you to the driveway. The front lock is hard to operate. Great communication and attention from the owner.

AWESOME VACATION AND RENTAL

This is a neat old log cabin with all of the needed updates. Miss Becky is a super nice lady and we really enjoyed our week. The location was perfect, right outside of Hendersonville, with some really yummy food places. Thank you!

Quiet and peaceful.

It’s a quirky cabin from the 1880’s. Secluded but close to everything in Asheville. Becky was very helpful with any questions we had. We stayed here with my family of 6. We had plenty of room. I’d recommend it to anyone!

Rustic but comfortable

Although the property has "Old house" issues, we loved the comfortable beds and space to spread out. We were surprised that the cabin though nestled in it's own little woods, is actually in a residential area, convenient to downtown Hendersonville. The cabin is well equipped with any supplies needed and lots of games to entertain all ages. The charm of a 200 year old cabin was not lost on us.

Christmas cabin memories

Our family of 5 met up with my parents at this cabin and were delighted to see Christmas decorations which made our weekend stay even more cozy! We had plenty of space and a memorable time. Our kids LOVED the nearby Elijah Gem Mine experience and my husband and I even got to have an evening candlelight date at the Biltmore. The location worked out perfectly for what we needed & Becky the host was easy to work with and responsive. Thanks!!

Amazing is all I can say

I loved this little cabin it was all it said and so much more. I had my sons best friend with me who is autistic and he was not over stimulated at all. Such so much peace and relaxation. The boys had one little room all to themselves where they could be loud and play their games and have a good little stay. The owner of the property was so helpful and even gave us ideas on things to do and places to go she was a absolute pleasure to work with. I will be staying here again my boys enjoyed it as much as the grown ups.

Quaint, comfortable and convenient!

We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin! It was quaint, historic and comfortable. The slight age old imperfections added to the charm. Although it is located in a neighborhood that is convenient to shops, restaurants and attractions, the cabin is nestled back in the woods with lots of privacy. Our favorite place to eat close by was Binion’s Roadhouse. I highly recommend it. We especially enjoyed the High Falls trail in DuPont Forest, Chimney Rock and the Biltmore House. All were easy to access. Becky was wonderful! She went out of her way to accommodate us by even setting up a small surprise birthday celebration for my 15 year old granddaughter. It was a perfect place for our Maltese as well. I definitely plan to stay there again!

The cabin is old and quirky but very comfortable and clean. It is not very suitable for people with difficulty with different levels. There are steps around the home in odd spots that makes it a little dangerous if you are disabled or not paying attention. The host is very easy to contact and helpful, there is a full list of places to eat, visit, and do which was very thorough. The layout was not what we thought. The loft doesn’t have a bathroom so you have to go downstairs, through the dining room and kitchen to get there. When all the men are over 70 and needing to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night several times this doesn’t work well, but for other people this would be fine. It is a really neat old old log cabin and we loved the look. We did not use the hot tub or the game room; you do need to walk through the bedroom with the king bed, and that bathroom to get to the game room, there is a door on the outside, but we didn’t try to open it, because the living and dining rooms were very comfortable to hang out in. There are gas fires in the two downstairs bedrooms. We turned ours off and couldn’t get the pilot light to go on again, but the bathroom heater kept both the bathroom and the room warm. It is hard to find the driveway, so don’t arrive after dark. If we were younger this would have worked a bit better for us, but that isn’t the fault of the home or host so it does deserve 5 stars, for the fact that it is still there and in good shape.

Welcome to Hendersonville! I am a native who grew up in the neighborhood and still live in the neighborhood. I love meeting my guest and making recommendations to meet your needs. I love working with land and selling land! I am a NC licensed realtor although they are inactive at this time. My full time position is working for one of the nations largest utility companies as an Research Specialist. I collect green depression glass (some call it Vaseline glass) and usually have a few pieces in the cabin for my guest to enjoy. I enjoy classic cars and going to car and tractor shows around the area. In spring, summer & fall there is always a car show somewhere close on Friday or Saturday night.
I love to cook for my family and also can (preserve) fruit & vegetables.

Why they chose this property

The cabin and the property around it were previously owned by my mom & dad during the 1970's. For various reasons it was sold several times, the cabin was added on to and took a different direction for the highest and best use. The previous owners set the property up as a vacation rental. When they listed it for sale in the spring of 2014, I realized it was my opportunity to put it back into the family. I am loving having the cabin in close proximity to my house. When it is not being rented I will occasionally go to the cabin with a cup of coffee, build a fire, sit on the sofa in the quiet and enjoy a good book. Total relaxation! I love the cabin and all of it's little quirks and hope that you will too.

What makes this property unique

You will get the feel of what it was like to live in a cabin in the 1800's. If you are looking for 'abundantly fancy with frills', this is not it. But, if it is relaxation and comfort with rustic thrown in that is convenient to most everything the area has to offer, I would love to have you as my guest.
