Traditional stone built cottage with fantastic view of lake and mountains
Cwm Deiliog is an idyllic detached 200 year old cottage situated on a leafy hillside overlooking Lake Padarn and the mountains of Snowdonia. Log/coal fire, dining/sitting room, 3 bedrooms sleeping 4/5 all with heaters, kitchen with fridge freezer, microwave, electric cooker and bathroom with bath and shower. Pretty garden and terrace with that wonderful view and garden furniture. Lots of interesting things to visit in the locality. The cottage is not on the road but 100m downhill via a concreted track (uphill on the way back!) A private parking space at the side of the quiet country road. I do not accept dogs, so please do not ask!

Nice property with best view of lake and mountains.Near the many attractions like lake railway, slate quarries, dolbadarn castle and popular snowdown railway.
We wanted somewhere quiet, secluded and far away from reality, this hit the spot perfectly! We weren't far from Llanberis where we had some great food and went on a beautiful walk to the castle. The cottage was well equipped and gave us the chance to feel properly nestled in the mountain. We used our time their to celebrate my partners birthday, and begin art projects we've been preparing for. We met a couple of others in Fachwen and they were so lovely and helpful! Make sure you take your pound coins, I'd say in the winter, to keep warm we needed around 15 worth at most, but we did have a decent fire on one of the days! We're hoping to come back in the spring or summer to experience it in full bloom!
A beautiful little cottage with wonderful views. Many happy memories sitting by the open fire. Lovely to read about the family history of the building too.
We WILL be returning!
Outstanding views, make sure you are fit to walk up and down to the cottage. Small lanes getting to the cottage, nervous drivers be aware. Totally worth it, such amazing views, cottage is 200 years old, so don't expect mod cons, felt good to be off grid. So relaxing.
We had a wonderful stay in this quaint little cottage. Even our grumpy teen who doesn’t like anyone or anything thoroughly enjoyed her stay and wants to return. The most beautiful views of Snowdon from the living room window. Homely little fire burning and keeping us all cosy. Just idyllic. My son also found Rosalie’s bird poem book and as a parrot owning family he had a good chuckle reading them. 100% we will be back.

Amazing views, roaring fire, cosy cottage
We spent a very memorable few days at this little cottage in Fachwen over the lake from Llanberis. The views of the mountains constantly change as the weather roles in. It’s like stepping back in time with the roaring fire in the huge hearth, board games and plenty to read. We loved it!
Comfortable cottage in secluded location - with stunning views of Snowdon.
The owner warns about the walk to / from the house and visitors will certainly have a cardio workout before getting to their cars - but we got used to it and it's a price worth paying for the fabulous location.
Canaerfon, Llanberis and the mountains are all quite easily accessible.
Lovely simple cottage with stunning view and garden.
Peace of mind, that's what the cottage gave us.
We had beautiful weather, and enjoyed the garden. Unfortunately I broke my wrist up on nantle ridge. But we were well treated in the hospital in Bangor.
Beautiful climb, by the way.

Location perfect, wonderful views of Llanberis
Cottage was very charming and had most things that we needed. The coin operated electricity meter was a bit frustrating, the power cut out at least once every day. The walk to the car park is not far but the hill is VERY steep which makes it quite an effort to unload and pack car.
My husband and I just got back from a lovely 4 night stay. The cottage is very homely, the open fire was very appreciated in the evenings when the temperature dropped and waking up to the view of the lake and Snowdon was amazing, the best view of everywhere we visited! We were prepared for the cold, and took pound coins for the electric, we made use of the kitchen which was very well equipped and happy to say the water got nice and hot for a bath. The location is good with some nice walks nearby or visiting North Wales. Brace yourself for the walk up/down the drive - the view is worth it! A very special place, thank you Rosie

Perfect home for a trip to Snowdon
Situated in the hills overlooking the lake, the cottage provides beautiful unobstructed views across to Llanberis and Snowdon.
The cottage is the perfect place to stay when visiting Snowdon and north Wales.
The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and preparing meals. The three bedrooms are comfortable. The electric blankets are a great addition when the weather’s chilly. The living room has a large table with views from the window looking out at Snowdonia National Park. The open fireplace was perfect to keep the place nice and cosy.
We will definitely be back.

Great location but.....
Tremendous area and views from the cottage. Well kept garden surrounding the property, reallyspecial. But as you enter the place you have a stale not aired smell which didn't disappear on opening windows etc. The armchairs and house textiles needed cleaning for a fresher smell. The freezer wasn't particularly clean. The place is equipped with everything you need, the beds are comfortable but softly sprung. There are no towels or sheets provided and you pay for your electricity plus the descent from the parking to the house is about 120 yards but quite steep.
Communication with the host was late and only via SMS.
I think with more attention to cleanliness, this place is a gem!
Magnificent views from the cottage and a very beautiful location.
But the cottage itself could use an upgrade. The furniture is outdated and definitely not suitable for tall people. The bathroom is also a bit of a struggle with showering in the bath where the shower head was far below my shoulders. The toilet too does not offer a lot of space.
Otherwise, everything you need is there. Just make sure you have new pounds with you for the electricity.
You can park the car in a private car park just fine, then start a challenging road downhill. It's a pretty steep slope and especially uphill you'll need to put your fitness to good use.
However, you do get a beautiful view in return with lots of birds and squirrels in the garden. These seem tame and almost eat out of your hand (including the robin).
Communication with Rosalie was fine and everything was as indicated.
In short, had a great stay, although it does struggle for tall people (I am almost 2 metres tall).
I was absolutely stunned when I found this accomodation. It really is the most incredible little place to stay if you are exploring the Snowdonia mountains. You can see Yr Wddyfa summit from the living room, twin room and garden! It's wonderful. Very quiet and Rosie has left everything you need as it is a stone cottage so does get cold. Remember pound coins as it has an older coin meter. Only attempt to drive down the lane to unload/load if you have experience as it is a very narrow lane not meant for modern cars (I live in a small fishing town with the same type of lanes so was no problem for me). But there's a dedicated parking space on the layby about a 4 minute walk up the lane. It is quite steep for anyone with mobility difficulties or if you are carrying heavy things on your own. Hopefully Rosie will be happy to have me back as I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when I go to visit my favourite place :-)
Cwm Deiliog is a beautiful welcoming cottage full of charm, we felt so at home on arrival, cosy and inviting.
With all the amenities that you would want inside the cottage for your comfort, along with plenty of useful maps and routes of walks around the lake and mountains.
With the log fire going at night creating a cosy relaxing evening, even in June.
The views of the scenery and landscape from the cottage with the surrounding mountains down to the lake below and all around truly make you feel like you are in paradise.
With a meandering garden full of wonderment, the birds are a real joy to watch on the bird feeders, we sat there happily watching all the different varieties of birds visiting the garden, we could not of asked for a more wonderful place to take a holiday, the cottage is a peaceful haven to enjoy.
The area is an abundance to explore with walks a plenty around the mountains, lake and beyond.
We went kayaking on lake Padarn and you can go for a swim too,
there are plenty of places to picnic by the lake, kick back and relax and take in the views.
We are looking forward to returning to the cottage to stay again, thank you so very much Rosie for sharing your peaceful haven with us.

Why they chose this property
This cottage was discovered by my mother and renovated by my father who was a master builder, and has been maintained by me since my parents' death. My mother thought of it as her dream.
What makes this property unique
Probably the best view from any holiday cottage, with lots of charm from the traditional 200 year old stone built cottage
