Location right on the lake , but the place was really dated. it wasn't the perfect place for our vacation-dark, depresing paneles on the walls, antique furniture and planty of religious items in master bedroom
i will suggest to the homeowner to updated the rooms and also have some brochures for guests about local info

I guess I am little perplexed - on checkout day they stated they had a wonderful time and even gave me a box of chocolates!
Their stay was LAST YEAR ...
There are pictures of the interior ....2 of the bedrooms have wood paneling..the rest of the home is painted off white..it is a very cheery vacation spot
There have always been plenty of brochures in the house for my guests..and I do let them know about area happenings and guests are encouraged to Google the area for their interests ..

House was not as described
House was old and needed to be updated. Many religious items throughout the house. Walkway to lake was very difficult. Lounge chairs were covered in bird dropping. No chairs on waterfront and row boat leaked. Unable to enter lake with kayaks, very rocky waterfront. We needed to get our own pass for the landfill and then take the trash there before we left
No essential things, toilet paper, paper towels or trash bags. Owners were difficult to work with.

Please Note : The Negative Review posted by Carol Banks was her following thru on her threat of retaliation against us for only refunding half of her security deposit , and her comments, which are grossly overexaggerated and factually incorrect, should Not be taken seriously.
Our Reasons for only refunding half of her security deposit, was directly linked to her and her guest's failure to adhere to the rental agreement she willing signed, which clearly states "to leave the home as you found it, clean up after yourself. and to notify us immediately of any damages". We have photos and documentation that show Carol Banks clearly failed to comply with Our agreement.
When confronted about these transgressions, Carol Banks verbally attacked and threated us with a Bad Review instead of apologizing.
We had to pay someone four hours to reclean the property after Carol Banks left the property. And as a result, we only refunded half of her security deposit which was generous on our part, as we could have kept the full amount based on her violation of the Rental Contract.
My husband, myself, our two teenage boys, and our dog stayed at this hidden gem for the first week of August 2022. We had a wonderful time! We had a 13 hour car drive, so we arrived late in the evening. Karen was unable to meet us at the lake house, but she explained everything over the phone before we arrived and even left us a pizza since she knew we had a long day! The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. We were concerned about having no A/C since the weather was much hotter than average the week we came. However, the house stayed cool with the ceiling fans and stand fans that were at the cabin even though the temps were in the mid to high 80s. It was so nice having the kayaks and canoe, so we didn't have to bring ours. The lake was very quiet-especially during the week days. The screened-in-porch was great, and we ate most of our meals there. There were also relatively few insects to bother us! The washer and dryer were newer models, and Karen provided the detergent. It was also nice to have a dishwasher, so we didn't have to do any dishes by hand. It is a bit of a drive to the nearest town for groceries (15-20 min), but we liked the remote feel of the location. It is a rather steep hill down to the dock. I did wonder why there were not many reviews, but Karen explained she only rents the cabin for about 6 weeks a year, and then her family uses it the rest of the time. Overall, I would recommend this cabin for a quiet vacation by a lake.
The lake home was clean and cozy. The 3 bedrooms were very comfortable. I like that there are two bathrooms, one for the adults and one for the children. The surroundings where beautiful and so quiet! Very relaxing! The house had everything we needed. I lived in screen porch. The only downfall was the steps going down to the water, but we managed fine. We did enjoy the association beach a few miles away. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Also, bringing our own trash to the recycling facility, .wasn't convenient, but considering we were able to rent a 3 bedroom two bath on a lake for a great price was worth it. I would love to rent this house again next summer. Thanks Karen!
We had a wonderful and peaceful week at Karen's lakefront house. Karen was waiting for us upon our arrival and gave us a quick tour of the house and its amenities; all was clean and ready for us. Our son and his fiancée joined us half way through the week and they also enjoyed the lake to its fullest. We all especially enjoyed the kayaks and canoe! Island Pond we found out is really a lake! But no matter its name, it's so picturesquely calming and refreshing. We met several locals at the beach, from young to older, all enjoying the beach, the dock, corn hole racks and its volleyball court! It was nice seeing the now college group of friends reuniting for the summer at their favorite place and reminiscing their younger years there. This place is welcoming to all ages! We are definitely coming back next summer!

Comfortable
This property was a good value for the price. Comfortable house, beautiful views, a good variety of water craft. The beach area, about a mile away, was very nice and not crowded. The hill down to the water was a little daunting for the Grandmother in our group and we didn’t have phone service. But this is a great location if you want quiet and relaxing.

Nice Quiet Retreat
Had a short stay in July 2017 and Karen the owner was prompt and on time with everything.
We had a problem with the outdoor grill and I believe she showed up the same day with a new one. Very responsive.
The place was large and very accommodating (5 of us and 2 dogs). The lake to the house is uphill a hundred steps or so but rather nice as it gives a nice overlook. Dock was sturdy and well built. Paddleboat, kayaks, and a canoe were all in great shape (Paddle boat was brand new).
Would recommend and stay again.

Home away from Home
Thank you very much for a wonderful time up at Lake Washington. Your lake house was the perfect accommodation for our family vacation. Upon arrival we were greeted with a thorough tour of the house. Not only was it spot on clean, it had so much space!
The kitchen had every appliance and utensil needed for us to cook during the week. It was directly open and connected with the living room, which had a huge enclosed back deck that overlooked the water. What a view!
The two full bathrooms were very clean and fully stocked with towels.
The three bedrooms had clean sheets already on the beds, plenty of pillows, extra blankets and storage areas/closets for our clothes.
As for things to do, the beach area was a quick trip down the road, which we visited multiple times during the week. Again, very clean & private.
Down the road two miles, was a wonderful farm, which also has great reviews.
We took a fun day trip to Henniker & visit the Henniker Brewery.
The best was just enjoying our time at the house, reading books, spending time on the water, or watching one of the many movies provided!
Overall it was definitely a comfortable home away from home stay, which made relaxing that much easier. This is a perfect location for any type of getaway during the summer or fall months.
We can’t wait to visit again!

Excellent Home Away From Home
Outstanding vacation property! I was so excited when we arrived on how perfectly the rental matched the description. The place was well cared for and had all the amenties we required for our vacation. The lake was not far at all and was a very easy walk. The private beach was relaxing with only a few people in sight, so we had some private family time. In the evening we were able to each dinner on the porch and listen to all the natural sounds around us. SO STRESS RELIEVING!!!!!! The owners were helpful and answered all of my questions. Definitely worth every penny and second spent there!I'm already planning a girls weekend there!
