The property has been well taken care of.
We were very impressed with the house and its location was wonderful. We found everything we needed to enjoy the stay. Our only criticism was the bed in the master bedroom suite did not have a box spring and the pillows were of poor quality. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

Response from VrboOwner on 17 March 2020
I appreciate your comments and am sorry the pillows and bed were not to your liking. We always have two new pillows per guest with two different firmness ratings to try to satisfy varying preferences. The bed frame is the type that doesn't need a box spring. Thank you, Katie, owner.

Clean and comfy
Great place to stay and visit the Asheville area.! The cottage was very clean and had everything you would want to make your stay comfy. The little details of where things are located helped! This was a Sister vacation and did accommodate 4 adults well, but it is a small house and 5 would be crowded. The only minor issue was the dishwasher had a small leak, but no one minded washing dishes by hand. We old definitely stay here again!

Perfect!
What an amazing little cottage! It was perfect and homey. It had absolutely everything we needed. It was so comfortable and cozy. The yard and grounds were beautiful, and it even has a sweet front porch swing and tree swing. We were there for a wedding at Hidden Rivers, and it was so close. Thank you so much for your hospitality... it was a joy to stay in your adorable cottage!!!!

Charming house rich with special touches!
Beautiful house with charm in every corner and so many thoughtful and practical touches that really make a guest comfortable. Loved the grounds, the front porch swing and lawn chairs and the artful decor. Well equipped kitchen, perfect community spaces to enjoy family and friends and comfy bedrooms with great storage and plentiful hooks. The owner and caretaker (Mindy) were helpful and communicative. Can't wait to come back. Thank you so much!!!

Beautiful peaceful and comfortable place to stay
We had such a wonderful experience at the beekeepers cottage. The pictures of the house are very accurate, and the house came with everything (and more than) we needed. There’s a beautiful fenced in yard with a swing and hammock, and a great outside area for our toddler to play in. There were several nice sitting areas in the house and on the front porch, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook several meals there. We went into Asheville several times, and it was about a 15 or 20 minute drive. The owner/caretaker of the house was very sweet, and responsive. We loved that the house had shades that could be used in the windows (our toddler needs a pretty dark room to sleep in). The house is beautifully decorated. We would highly recommend this house, and we would definitely stay there again!

Water main break!!
5 stars, not for the stay, but for dealing with the owner! Unfortunately, we were unable to stay at the Bee Keeper's cottage due to a water main break in the area .. no water for a few days with 4 ladies spells a second disaster! Katie was pleasant to deal with during this time, and refunded all money I had spent for my stay. We come to North Carolina from Wisconsin every year... and would like to be able to stay at Katie's home next year - it looks lovely and very comfortable. Again - disappointment, but Katie was kind in her dealings with this unfortunate happening.

Thank you Lora. All the work is finished on the water main. Next time you're here we will have plenty of clean, fresh water for you.
What a great experience from beginning to end. The check in process was so easy and Katie has everything labeled with helpful notes around the house. She even has the TV listings numerically and alphabetically typed out. The attention to detail and the organization of the house was amazing.
The location was great as well. We went to Asheville for brunch at Over Easy Cafe and had lunch at Tupelo Honey. Both were great. Also tried out Native Kitchen which was only about 5 minutes away and so so good(get the Brussel sprouts). Overall a wonderful experience and would definitely book it again.
Very nice property. Home was very clean with everything you need for cooking etc. Décor was adorable. We were within 15 minutes to Asheville, 20 to Biltmore Estate property. Everything else to have fun and explore was all 10-20 minutes time.
This was a great location for a family get together. Location was perfect for us, and we plan on returning. We went hiking and enjoyed visiting Asheville. Only suggestion would be to upgrade the single twin room to a double or queen bed. That would make it ideal for a couples retreat.
This is one of favorite houses to rent. It’s such a beautiful home and location is ideal. We’ve come back to this house many times. I highly recommend.
What a charming place to stay! So many thoughtful surprises for our family. From games and fresh cut flowers from the garden to our favorite, the tree swing. We wish we could have stayed longer. Very convenient to downtown Asheville yet feels away from it all.

I’m glad you appreciated the little things like the fresh flowers. Come again!
Lovely house and it has everything you need to feel like you are at home.....but on vacation!! Myself and some friends have stayed here for an annual trip several years and we have never been disappointed.
This was the second time I stayed at Beekeeper Cottage... it was so nice the first time I opted to stay there again. In a quiet neighborhood, this beautifully decorated and immaculately kept home offers the best of both worlds: it's only minutes to both downtown Asheville and the Black Mountain area. Plenty of room for a family, but not too large for a couple to still feel cozy. The landscaped yard is large with a wonderful front porch for taking in the cool mountain breeze. Highly recommended!
This house is amazing. Has a lot of charm. A backyard for the kids, a nook for the adults and location for everyone. We would definitely stay here next time we come back to Asheville. It’s 15 minutes to Asheville , 15 to black mountain, and 25 to the airport. The only thing I would say it’s a bit far from sliding rock or looking glass but that shouldn’t deter anyone because you can just make a day out of it. Happy to have stayed here for sure.

Check out Catawba Falls on your next visit. It is just beyond Black Mountain off the highway. I hope we can host you again.
My husband and I came to the area with our niece to introduce her to hiking and see a state park. The Blue Ridge Mountains were the perfect level of difficulty (length, altitude, incline, etc.) to start her on, knowing we are flatlanders from ND. The Bee Tree cottage was a wonderful place to come home to afterwards. It was spacious, clean, and extremely charming. The outdoor space is perfect for a family with kids. It's fenced in and large enough to burn off some energy. The location was great; private, with mountain views, however, if you like city life, this isn't the place for you. At night the fire flies were out in groves!!! Katie (the owner) and Mindy (house manager) were wonderful to work with... the communication was timely and informative. We would definitely stay here again if we ever got back to the area.

MARYS KICK-ASS GIRLS WEEKEND
We are a group of ladies from Nashville who wanted a gals weekend. The Beekeeper Cottage was perfect! We just loved it! Extremely Clean and well stocked! Everything was well labeled and clear instructions on how to use the washer and dishwasher. Great location - close to everything! Katie and Mindy replied quickly when we had questions.
We had great fun at the piano bar and enjoyed lots of down time playing games at the Cottage and sitting on that fantastic swing on the front porch.
Would stay here again and recommend to any and everyone!

About the host
Hosted by Katie Dewit
We moved to Asheville after living in Africa for 13 years where I met my husband. His poverty alleviation work was the subject of a television documentary I worked on. We are the third owners of this special house and we had no idea what we were getting into buying what at the time was a 90 year old house. Our real estate agent even cautioned us! It's been a labor of love, sweat and tears and we have enjoyed living here especially now that the work is done, (well, almost...). When not working or with family and friends, I can be found in the woods or on the Blue Ridge Parkway on a bicycle.
Why they chose this property
I grew up visiting family in North Carolina. When deciding to move to the US, we chose Asheville for the biking, hiking, music, arts, theater and outdoor lifestyle. We were then hooked by the charm and history of this house, the large trees, fenced yard, and natural beauty of the quiet surroundings. It was an enchanting place to raise our then 8 year old daughter. We hope to move back one day.
What makes this property unique
Enjoy quick access to Asheville, and Black Mountain while staying in a picturesque setting. Charles Owen Rec. Park and easy hiking trails are walking distance, Warren Wilson College is less than one mile away. It is only a sixteen minute drive to Asheville, and Biltmore House. Black Mountain and the Lake Eden Arts Festival grounds are a10-15 minute drive. A large variety of birds and other wildlife visit us throughout the year.
