This was the perfect location to enjoy Acadia National Park and seaside towns. The marina and Southwest Harbor has great restaurants and shops. The boathouse was decorated cutely and had a nice outdoor table where we enjoyed the evenings.
The Boathouse is a charming place in a really fun town. Southwest Harbor is lovely and it is a nice getaway from the crowds in Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. We enjoyed the house and all the restaurants in SWH. Communicating with Christie was easy. I highly recommend a stay here.
We chose this rental as we were still close to Acadia NP without the crowds. Am I glad we did as this rental was easy to park, has nice furnishings and a great hostess. I especially appreciated the size of the rooms, which were spacious with the right amount of furniture. We would definitely stay here again!
The property is thoughtfully put together with everything you need for a comfortable getaway. There are books and puzzles for quiet time which was appreciated. The location was within walking distance to the downtown area with great amenities but far enough away where there was quiet, except for the bar up the street if it is Friday or Saturday which seemed to be the local watering hole and provided entertainment and it was nice to listen to the local musicians from the patio with a glass of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Truly "the quiet" side of the island, we loved it. We did two weeks this fall following leaves and this was the middle of the trip. It was perfect. We had three nights at the Boat House, dinner the first night out since we had been traveling most of the day, cooked in the next two nights. We loved walking the docks at sunset and watching the fishermen come in with their catch. Town is close enough to walk, bed was comfy, and linens/towels were good. 20 minutes to the "busy side" was not too far. We would definitely come again and Christie was the perfect hostess. Thank you! Maria & Paul, Tavares FL. OH, the leaves were FABULOUS!
This is a fantastic place to stay if you enjoy being close to great trails, a cute little town with good restaurants (not chains and junk food), and you like having a place that doesn’t share walls with others. The king bed was super comfy, living room, dining and kitchen has everything you need plus puzzles games and more. I recommend wearing at Red Sky if you enjoy a delicious fancier dinner and Beal’s for fresh lobster is not to be missed. We ate at Beale one night and brought carry out back to the place another night. 3 outstanding hikes within a7 minute drive and low traffic on this side! I highly recommend this over Bar Harbor. We enjoyed one evening over there but high traffic and lots of crowds over there. Parking is tough in BH but not in Southwest Harbor! We walked to Red Sky for dinner. I highly recommend staying here.
Exceptionally clean, roomy and comfortable. Perfect location for a home base for exploring Mount Desert Island even if located more or less in a marina parking lot. Short drive to the Bar Harbor side and all the sights and popular trails but away from the crowds when you return. Quick access to rarely used hiking trails and lakes on the quieter side. Could have received a higher rating if not for the noise of the adjacent newly constructed and operating building and the truck/trailers parked blocking any views. Host was extremely responsive and helpful.

Thank you for the candid review. Unfortunately we are a small, close community. The facility next door was just finished early this summer and it's been a learning curve for the crew to mitigate fitting back into their surroundings. There's been great gains this fall with more adjustments in the near future. Our whole harbor suffered right along with you during this time. Fortunately it's being managed much better now and fits in better with the working boat hum of our harbor.
Perfect for us. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Convenient to Acadia National Park.

The cottage was very comfortable and cozy and we loved being by the harbor!
The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, which made it simple to just move our belongings in for our stay.

This was the perfect place to stay. We were at our day's outing in just a few minutes but out of the crowds in a peaceful location when we were done. The unit was clean, comfortable, and a great size. It had everything we needed and more.

Happy to have made for a comfortable home base for your adventures!
Thank you for sharing this house with us. First, the location was on the quiet side of the island and out of the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor which we loved. The town was a short walk and had restaurants and shops. We loved the Clark Point Cafe for breakfast. We also liked Eat a Pita. The ice cream shop had great blueberry pie. Second, the house is beautiful and the decor and details were very thought out. You had a view of the Harbor from the 2 decks . The house was clean and very spacious. Third, Christi was easy to communicate with and responded promptly

First time visitor to Southwest Harbor
Overall the rental was clean, comfortable and had nice relaxed feeling. We were disappointed with the tight shower and small bathroom. The living space was roomy enough for two people. The king size bed was comfortable. We did not realize that this area had restaurants closing for the season, however did find the local restaurants friendly and reasonable prices. Being on site with the marina, people should be aware of the early morning traffic on the docks. Althought, not enough to deter us from renting there again.
We very much enjoyed this cottage and found it to be well organized and had everything we needed. We were very comfortable there. Slept great on great sheets ( not polyester! Yea!) Very quiet. We did have to open the windows when we arrived due to heavy fragrance and cleaners, took several days to get rid of the smell. Lighting could be better in the bedroom if you like to read in bed. But really, I would happily stay here again and felt the owner really tried to think of everything you would need. Some of the photos need to be updated as some furnishings such as couches have changed. It was truly a comfortable lovely little cottage. Thanks!
Christie was a wonderful host. The home was furnished with everything we could have imagined. Everything was clean and perfect. Could not have asked for a better place to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Thank you Christie

What a splendid way to celebrate such a wonderful time in your lives! Happy 50th and here's to many more! Thank you for choosing to stay with us!
This is a great one bedroom house for a couple. Christie gave us helpful info, and we enjoyed having a kitchen for meals and picnic prep/ While the kitchen is basic, it was very well-equipped. Bed is king-size and comfortable, shower was great. The lighting could be a bit brighter in the bedroom as we like to read at night before bed. Also the washing machine is located next door and is a pay machine, which I did not realize until we arrived. No big deal, but just mentioning. We would definitely stay here again. We loved SW Harbor.
Charmingly rustic on the outside, the property is up-to-date and thoughtfully decorated on the inside. The bedroom is very spacious and the open-plan living room, dining room, and kitchen is very comfortable. We appreciated the little touches: a selection of books and games, TVs in the living room and bedroom, and an apron in the kitchen. There is a laundromat next door and be sure to bring a roll of quarters because there isn’t a change machine. There are several good restaurants within walking distance, along with a gourmet/wine shop, a small grocery store, and a bakery.
The Boathouse Cottage is very nicely maintained, clean, spacious, and comfortable. It’s located only a few blocks from the center of Southwest Harbor, with a good selection of restaurants and several lovely shops, including a terrific little wine and cheese shop. We prepared most of our own meals at the cottage and the kitchen seemed well equipped for our needs. The location is right in the middle of the commercial marina area, which wouldn’t ordinarily be our first choice, but we thought we’d give it a try this time. Bright lights from the marine store across the street and the lack of a quiet outdoor sitting area were drawbacks for us, but with windows closed the cottage was fairly quiet inside. We did put up extra covering on the street side bedroom window to reduce the light at night. Being country folks, we like it dark at night. All together, it’s a trade off between location convenient to shops, restaurants, and the Island Explorer bus line versus a more secluded, quiet location. The cottage itself is very nice and the pricing is more than fair.

Great cottage in the less busy town of Southwest Harbor
Perfect little cottage with a short drive to Acadia and other points of interest. The home was well stocked with items that made it feel less like a rental and more of a place we could call home. Bathroom is rather small, but we had no complaints. Only a 15-20 minute drive to the park this was everything we hoped it would be.
