Great location, really cool place. Bedroom is tight, but the place is very functional, the garden is gorgeous and coll art gallery. Location is perfect for park.
Ira has cultivated an incredible gallery and café. The cabin itself is quite intimate but has everything you might need. The garden is absolutely stunning and you can't beat the proximity to Volcano National Park.
It is and amazing little venue, quaint with everything you need. The host is extremely nice and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place, understanding it is small but quaint
.Highly recommend
The cottage was cozy and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and relaxing. I loved the sanctuary. This worked perfectly for us visiting the viewing area for the volcano each night.

Aloha Debbie. It was very nice meeting you both. So pleased you enjoyed the cottage and gardens . Thank you for the feedback regarding the cottage. Do hope you will stay with us again before long.. My Best, Ira Ono
Lovely property, congenial Host. Only problem was that the bed took up almost the whole bedroom leaving very little room to get out of the bed from the right side.
Quiet, private cottage for 2. Very close to Volcano Natl park. Also convenient to Hilo airport. Lots of little touches, fruit, yogurt, fresh bread and milk in fridge. Books and dvds for rainy days. Not fancy, but clean and well appointed, at a reasonable price. Would stay again.
I come here every chance I get. There’s no downsides to staying here. I love this cottage and the property so much. The tree circle is magical.

Aloha Teresa,
We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for the nice review. Hope you visit us again!
The gardens are so peaceful! The pics of the cottage don’t show how small it is but the gardens are so worth it. It should be noted that you can’t walk around to the far side of the bed. The bathroom is lovely and the cafe on site was great! There was lots to do in the area and there is a coin washer/dryer a couple blocks away if you need it. Great stay!

Aloha Wenonah.. So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. I know you enjoyed Hawaii Volcanos National park just up the road from our cottage and also got to explored our historic gardens. Please join us again!. Ira Ono
This is a small beautiful cottage on a beautiful piece of property with many gardens with a Japanese theme. The windows are so clean you would think there is no glass. Very close to Volcanoe National Park which was a primary reason we booked. Old Volcanoe road is an artist community with many galleries showcasing local artist such as Ira ono.

Aloha Russell. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at our sweet cottage. You had sunny days while you were our guests and hoped you experienced
great hiking in the Hawaii Volcano National park just up the road from us. Mahalo, Ira Ono
This property had the best location as it was about 1 mile from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The cottage was located mid way back and on the side of the property. Ira was in his workshop when we arrived and greeted us personally. We could walk the entire property including the small nature garden in the back which was truly a special place. We also received a discount at the Gallery and Restaurant. Thank you for the great stay!

Aloha Lawrence,
So glad you enjoyed your stay with us! Hope you visit us again, soon. Mahalo for your reservation!
My daughter and I were welcomed by the kindest host, Ira. He helped us take our bags inside and provided breakfast for both days. We were blown away at his hospitality. His cottage is cute, warm and cozy. The hot tub was a major plus. Thank you so much Ira! Hope to see you again soon.
We enjoyed 2 relaxing nights at Ira’s beautiful property. He was there in his studio when we arrived and was happy to show us to the cozy cottage. We had everything that we needed and enjoyed our own hot tub for a soak after a long day of travel. The location is perfect for a stay in Volcano, minutes from VNP and many restaurants nearby. We missed out on Cafe Ono, that is located on the property, as they were closed the days we were there. The garden is amazing and a great place to begin or end your day. Mahalo Ira!

Aloha! So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Many folks do love the hottub after a day of exploring Hawaii Volcano national park up just up the road from the cottage. Please come visit us again!.. My Best, Ira
As advertised and more! It was a shame we didn't have time to thoroughly explore their beautiful grounds and giftshop. I told my wife about the highly rated vegetation cafe and she said, "well I'm not a vegetarian.". Then she tried the tiny fresh baked loaf of sweet bread they kindly left in the fridge(perfect after volcano viewing snack), Then when I asked "How about now?". She replied "I think I might be a vegetarian!". Delicious! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay! I hope come back very soon. Mahalo!
This cottage is like a dream come true! It’s so lush and beautiful! It’s well equipped with more than just the necessities. We didn’t have a chance to visit the cafe, but the host provided sweet bread, yogurt, coffee, and milk/juice in the fridge. The heater was necessary since we visited during the rainy season. The host took great care to reduce humidity and the impact of being in a rainforest as much as possible. The shower is to die for!
The attention to detail was unexpected and very thoughtful. Following our evening arrival, we were grateful to find everything we could want to get our vacation started here in this cozy, and well cared for cottage. Fresh bread, fruit, and other simple yet delightful items were provided that made our stay easy. The property is lovely, with plenty of unique, beautiful and creative garden spaces to saunter, relax and enjoy the natural environment in a private setting. The cafe and art gallery/shop are wonderful! So many artists represented and great stories regarding their craft. Ira is a warm and gracious host. We would love to stay here again.
The property was clean and well-stocked with coffee, tea, and breakfast goodies. The beautiful spa bath is a surprising contrast to the rustic style of the rest of the cottage. There were several welcoming touches, including beautiful tropical flowers. The cottage is small, and though it would probably be fine for one person or a couple who travels light, we found it a bit small for two older people. We had to put our big suitcases back in the car, taking out the things we needed first. Also, the bed is against the wall, and the person on the inside couldn’t get out of bed without disturbing the other person. On the whole, the location and thoughtful touches make this a nice property, but it may be better suited to a single guest or a couple who travels with small bags and that doesn’t have to get up multiple times in the night.
The cottage was cute. There is no AC so make sure you know things can get stuffy during the day. At night, cooler temps so make sure to dress accordingly. The yogurt in fridge was past due date (May 02 was date and we stayed June 14) so we tossed it. There was no banana bread as stated in listing but a couple slices of rye bread was left. A few sodas and some milk were in fridge which was nice and coffee maker was a life saver.

We are sorry to hear your stay with us was less then satisfactory. As our many excellent visitor reviews reflect our attention to details are very important to us.
Located at 4000 ft. elevation, air conditioning, in general, is not necessary. The cottage is equipped with an air purifier.
It may have been helpful, to have informed us that the yogurt had expired. it would have been an easy fix for us to replace it. As you know the cottage contained many complimentary breakfast fixings, such as organic granola cereals, fresh island fruit, gourmet teas and Kona coffees. We hope you enjoyed exploring the Volcanoes Hawaii National Park located a short distance from the cottage and will choose to visit us again.
