Host was welcoming. The apartment was very clean and had lovely views. The grounds were amazing with 3 well kept fishing ponds and lots of open space for the kids to play and explore
Lovely clean chalet ideal for a weekend break with our 2 dogs. Especially liked the dog exercise areas.Would have liked a bit more information on what was available locally - best pubs, places to eat, local map with walks marked. Overall a great place to stay.
Perfect location peaceful with great views. Lovely enclosed dog fields with plenty of free roam. Whilst the directions to the stay were available the postcode took us to an alternative farm, what three words could be a big advantage. We will be back it was a perfect bolt hole for the weekend
We spent a couple of nights here on a weekend biking trip to Wales and it was a great place to stay.
It was clean, quiet and has all the facilities you need.
Would thoroughly recommend!
We have just stayed in Cherry Blossom and for us it was perfect. The cottage was clean, spacious and fully equipped. The farm was perfect for us, and the dog loved it. We will defiantly return in the future as there is so much to explore in and around the area. Thank you for a lovely break!
Very comfortable unit with lovely views. Hosts were very responsive and helpful. We had everything we needed and were impressed with the dog exercises areas which were big and the situation was convenient for exploring the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Highly recommend.
Lovely stay just lacked finishing touches that we have experienced at similar properties. Books, dvd’s and games to borrow would have been nice. Lovely location however.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. If you ever want books or games we have a stock of these in our reception which any of our guests are welcome to use. I will make sure this is detailed in all the welcoming packs. Was lovely to meet you all!
Pleasantly surprised, don’t think VRBO actually do it justice. Beautiful view, grounds were lovely and cottage was clean and comfortable. I have no complaints at all. My dog enjoyed the safe free running spaces, absolutely wonderful short break. I would return and would recommend.

Peaceful, clean and modern.
The property is new and had a feel of a log cabin rather than a cottage. It was clean and comfortable. Nice open view from the patio. Location is ideal for a short break and a base for exploring the area, car is essential. There is good food in real ale pubs in Whitecroft and Park End and a large supermarket in Lydney.

Thank you for the lovely review and for choosing to stay with us, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay!
We have debated what to call the apartments - so few options on HomeAway to suit our set up - thanks we tend to stick to chalet or apartment but as you say they are all clad like cabins.
We like to keep everything extra clean and tidy, so pleased that you found it welcoming.

Have stayed here several times and I am sure there will be many more stays. We were invited to a wedding at Clearwell Castle and decided to make it a weekend break and this accommodation was our obvious choice. Accommodation has everything you need and the owners are on hand and extremely helpful. There is some traffic noise from the A48 but this didn't bother us.
My husband myself and our two dogs had a wonderful time staying in the disabled lodge. The scenery from the living room was simply breathtaking, Overlooking the mountains and the lake. Our two dogs had a wonderful time playing off lead in One of the specified areas and they also had a small area around the lodge to be able to get fresh air and go to the toilet by themselves. The lodge itself was wonderful for me being disabled in a wheelchair. The only thing I would say is the settees and the double bed are a bit low but we managed. Will definitely come here again soon

Nice, modern, warm and comfortable
This property was a great find. One of 3 units felt more like a chalet but well laid out and very light and airy. Great field in front for the dog and the fenced patio was handy too. We loved it! Only slightly odd thing was an unglazed window between kitchen and bathroom (you couldn't see through it because it was high up but you could hear) Also, hot water was scalding. Would return though 😊

Thank you for the lovely review and for choosing to stay with us, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay!
We do now state that these are chalets not cottages to avoid any confusion. The gap you referred to is now double glazed, the glass had to be replaced and allows more light into the bathroom. The water is set at a specific temperature limit in line with legal requirements. But if it is too hot for you please just ask and we can get it turned down straight away for you :)
Great to meet you and hope to see you back.

Good size, Lovely walk for dogs,
We were greeted by Michelle and her mum who made us feel welcome. The site was extremely dog friendly with some camping and a really good and safe dog walk for morning and evening strolls. The barn was a good size and very comfortable with easy wipe clean floors so paw prints were easy to mop up. We had a nice enclosed garden area to sit out with the dogs. An umbrella would have been a good extra as it was very hot the weekend we stayed. We will return next year. thanks you very much.

Thank you for the lovely review and for choosing to stay with us, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay!
We have tried to set the chalets up with dogs and their paws in mind.
We do have umbrellas available for guests to use, please just ask when you come back. They are just not left out as then can get blown away if left up and can damage the tables.
Hope to see you again soon.

Lovely Quiet Spot
The good bits
Nicely presented modern cottages. Very helpful hosts. Very spatious. Beds and duvets were superb. Toastie warm and dog friendly. Oodles of hot water.
The sligtht niggles (but done be put off)
12volt system has some restrictions (dont use the toaster!)
Hot water was too hot and could scald a toddler.
Odd opening at high level in bathroom to lounge....not the most private.
Sorry but internet would be nice.....just to keep the kids happy.
But on the whole we had a great stay and location is great for the FoD and other local spots.
Would i recommend it or come back. Yes defo.

Thank you for the lovely review and for choosing to stay with us, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay!
I have to say we get lots of great feedback on the beds as we have installed expensive and really comfy mattresses. Our Eco-friendly heating system is super for hot water.
The toaster does not run on the 12 volt system - please do just let us know if you have any problems while you are here so we can and stop any issues affecting your stay. We replaced the toaster after your stay, just in case, so thank you for this feedback note. The opening to the bathroom has now been filled with misted double glazed glass, it is up by the ceiling to help shed more light into that room.
Sadly after years of dispute with BT we are still not able to offer internet. Out of our hands I am afraid, but we will keep trying. In the meantime we have great 4G on most networks.
Hope to see you back soon and thanks again.

About the host
Hosted by The Dodson Family
Forest Oak Farm is the home of the Dodson family. Michelle, Steve and Carole live onsite in the Farmhouse with their much loved menagerie of dogs, cats, ducks, chickens and ponies.
Why they chose this property
The Dodson Family took on Forest Oak Farm as a run down small holding in desperate need of attention. It was essentially one big scrap heap, with many environmental enforcement notices against it. The site was very badly damaged and neglected - but the family saw through that and believed with hard work they could bring it back to its former glory. They have spent many years and hours breathing new life into this now stunning haven. They are delighted to be able to share our journey with you and show you what they have achieved!
The site is home to holiday apartments, a campsite and events venue - all dog friendly. So this is especially an ideal site if you are looking for a dog friendly place to stay.
What makes this property unique
Its a great place to bring your dog and also to bring family for summer holidays with the campsite alongside the rentals. The fishing lakes onsite are licensed and day tickets can be purchased onsite.
