If you love retro and are not too picky about a deep clean and don’t mind the owner being above you, this could be a good choice, especially for the price. It’s a basement apartment that has all the original furnishings from the 60’s, I think the appliances as well! So, kind of cute, but due to the age, there’s ground-in grime that could benefit from a deep clean—cabinets, oven, refrigerator, baseboards, etc. If you’re sensitive to odors, then this probably not the place for you as it is kind of musty plus you get cooking odors from upstairs. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, and it was very quiet at night, so pretty good sleeping. The windows open, which is great if you like fresh air at night. I loved that. The a/c and heat are completely controlled by the owner upstairs, so you have to ask if you want adjustments.
One of the streets coming to the house is extremely narrow, and I almost had a heart attack when a big truck almost took my side view mirror off. Inches to spare.
If you have a smaller vehicle you can comfortably park next to the owner’s carport, but it’s a little difficult with a larger vehicle.
The owner was friendly, and the written instructions were clear. You just have to be comfortable with not having 100% privacy and being worried about bothering her.
I certainly do not want to dissuade anyone from renting here, but you do have to be able to tolerate all the things I mentioned.
