About this property

Ye Olde Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Let Friday to Friday, to allow the advantage of a full week-end away, this 3 bedroom, 17th Century, Grade ll Listed, stone thatched cottage is situated in the heart of Niton village.

Boasting a wealth of original features - exposed beams, stone fireplaces and alcoves to snuggle by, all complimented by a well established cottage garden, flag stone patio and covered outdoor seating area.

Many guests have complimented on the cosiness of the cottage, and how well equipped it is, however those of certain stature should watch-out for a couple of low beams and some steep stairs.

The local shops include convenience store, chemists and book shop/general stores are all within a very short walk as is the White Lion family dining pub. The Buddle Inn, which is a15/20 minute walk is very characterful with a lovely sunny garden enjoying views of the sea.

Niton is surrounded by picturesque countryside and provides an excellent base for walking and cycling.

Close by are St Catherines Lighthouse, Niton Undercliff; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Blackgang Chine Theme Park. Ventnor is the nearest seaside town and for an amazing uncommercialised beach Compton Bay along the Military Road, popular with surfers and paddle boarders, is must.

Beautiful cottage

Stunning, well equipped thatched cottage set in a beautiful cottage garden, with amenities and coastal path only moments away, our family really enjoyed our stay! An ideal base for exploring the island, as well as a comfortable home-from-home for relaxing, enjoying a Pimms in the garden.

Ye olde cottage

Lovely cottage , very well furnished throughout in keeping with the period. Everything you would need provided within the cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept.

Excellent home from home

Ye Olde Cottage is a fabulous, well equipped cottage in the heart of Niton. It is unlike any holiday home we have ever stayed in, much more like a home that you have just walked into - fully equipped kitchen, rooms all full of the kind of ornaments and nick-nacks you might have collected if this was your own personal home. Although it is situated between two roads there is minimal disturbance from traffic (at least there was when we were there, in late September).

3 generations family break

We loved this cottage, it was cosy, comfortable and so well equipped as well as being in a brilliant location. the village has amenities and there are walks from the doorstep. there was a generous welcome pack from the host. the garden was a beautiful bonus. only 2 slight niggles 1. doorway heights were an issue for some of us - but predictable in a cottage of this age ! 2. the entrance to the parking place at the back is very tight, and removing a few more bricks from the wall would help we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would happily return

A comfortable stay. However, my 6 foot tall grandson wasn’t very comfortable with the low door ways.

My wife and I liked almost everything about the cottage. We would certainly recommend the cottage to others.

Delightful stay

We had a lovely stay in Ye Olde Cottage. It lives up to its name, so maybe not for anyone unsteady on their feet but for everyone else it is delightful. The garden is beautiful. The cottage is the best equipped I have ever stayed in. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful "welcome" pack. We also found the Niton grocery store (only about a minute's walk away) extremely convenient.

Ye Olde Cottage, Niton

This cottage is nothing short of paradise, the pictures do not do it justice the space and level of decor and attetion to detail inside and out is faultless. Most relaxing holiday we have ever had, good local shop and pub within 2 minute walk as well.

Wonderfully quaint cottage set to south of island

A wonderful cottage, fully equipped with everything we needed for our weeks stay. Also, a lovely private garden to the rear to enjoy drinks and bbq. Clean and spacious... I felt completely at home here. Certainly would recommend to others. Perfect location for walks to St. Lawrence Undercliffe, Ventnor and coastal walks west too. Coastal breezer bus to Needles just a minutes walk away. Would certainly come back again another year....thank you to the owners for sharing their bolt hole

Lovely location and cottage

Lovely cottage to stay in. Really well equipped with lots of added extras. Comfy beds and warm and cosy. Good value and excellent location. Was a little disappointed that the large oven didn't work (the small thin oven did, but no good for cooking a large pizza!) also was really very dusty - lots of ornaments which probably doesn't help! We would return though!

Thank you for your review. Can only apologise for the dust, the quite major refurbishment works on the lilac bedroom were finished the previous week, I dusted and polished extensively on the Sunday before you arrived on the Friday but having seen things again this weekend it is still dusty! Will endeavour to fight the dust extensively again. Really wish you had got in touch with either myself or the letting agent to report the problem with the large oven as it was not broken just needed the clock setting so that it would work. Can only apologise for this and will update the instructions accordingly to inform guests that if the power supply has been interrupted to the cooker, the clock flashes to signify this, then the large oven will not work until the clock has been set. So pleased to hear you would return, will look forward to you staying again.

a cottage to return to

We loved Ye Olde Cottage which we went to for Christmas week. The owner had decorated it very nicely indeed for the holidays. It was well supplied with everything. The cottage has a lot of character, sensitively restored, and its position right in the middle of the charming village of Niton was perfect. We would like to return.

Uncomfortable sofas

The 2 seater sofa and the 2 seater chaise-lounge were both very low, with thin cushions meaning we found it difficult to get comfortable in what was a lovely cottage. The location was great with pub and shop very close by, though the cottage and it's garden seemed a little hemmed in with other properties overlooking the garden. Great parking (if you have a small car) but it was very tight getting my 4x4 through the initial gap so I generally parked in front of the gate. Very comfortable bed, lovely kitchen, many attractive period features. Very clean (Which must be difficult to achieve with so many quaint nooks and crannies)......Just let down by the sofas, which need replacing. Niton is a great location

Perfect

We had a great holiday in this idyllic country cottage. If you like tranquillity this is the place for you. The garden is so pretty it looks like something you'd find on a jigsaw and the welcome pack was the best we've had. The cottage felt like home from home. We appreciated all the extra personal touches. Close to amenities and local attractions. Large village shop selling a range of hot snacks within easy walking distance. My children particularly enjoyed that and the Wi-Fi. We sadly can recommend the GP surgery as well - our daughter was stung by a weever fish ! A lesson learned. We thoroughly recommend this cottage but if you have very small children there are lots of within reach ornaments and the stairs are very steep. We have a child with additional needs who loves exploring but has a lot of complex issues Information such as this is helpful it should not be seen as a complaint. We had a great holiday in a quintessential country cottage! Thank you
