Lovely clean cottage. Plenty of space for 4 people. Beds very comfy. A bit further away from shops and pubs than we thought but wasn't a problem. Short drive into Bakewell. The welcome box with biscuits was much appreciated. Mrs Thorpe was very helpful when contacted.

The only problem for some could be the noise as property is adjacent to a busy road.
The only problem for some could be the noise as property is adjacent to a busy road.
Spacious, cosy cottage which is very well equipped and a great location for exploring the Peaks. There's pavement all the way from Baslow to Calver, so perfect for driving-free pub trips. The cottage has been really tastefully decorated and has great facilities. Great value for money and loads of things for families to do locally.
The one problem is that the house is near the main road, and the large lorries shake the main bedroom as they go past. It's pretty quiet between 22:00 and 06:00, but if you're a light sleeper it might disturb you.
The cottage is very cosy, comfortable and clean. The only problem we had was the proximity to the fast flowing road at the side of the property. My husband is a light sleeper and found it difficult to sleep. Such a shame as it’s such a lovely cottage.

This is a wonderful cottage, so cosy that we hurried back every afternoon.
This is a wonderful cottage, so cosy that we hurried back every afternoon. Fell in love with the whole cottage, but the bathroom, just wow😄Also, it is so close to pubs, restaurants and Chatsworth. I would say it is on a main road and you do hear the traffic but to be honest you forget about this so quickly. Don't let it stop you going to this amazing cottage.

Blackcurrant Cottage is a lovely warm & cosy place to stay with everything you need. Pubs and shop near by and a great fish & chip shop 5 minutes drive away.
In a great location, short drive to Bakewell, Matlock and Chesterfield. The cottages is situated on a busy road and at night there’s some heavy goods traffic.

We had a fabulous stay at Blackcurrant Cottage. Perfect location to explore the Peak District. The cottage offered everything we needed and was a real comfortable stay. We loved the master bedroom and the bathroom has given us inspiration for our own. It was super clean and modern. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to family and friends.

This was a lovely comfortable cottage; we absolutely loved it and will stay there again, am confident. It was beautifully appointed, and very comofrtable indeed - complementary goose eggs were a lovely touch.
Minor detractions -
1. the road noise is significant, altho with the windows closed, it is neglible. If it were last summer's heat, we would ot have been able to have the windows open for bedroom ventilation and cooling. However road noise was NOT a problem in a cool summer,
2. The house entry has a significant step over the ground door lintel, which was tricky for my friend post recent knee replacement; this could be resolved by essentially making a step the same height as the lintel, to step up onto, and then step down into the kitchen. Not too hard or costly to change, but much safer, particularly when feet are wet.
I simply don't want to put people off staying, as we loved our stay, it is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in; just take care,

The owners have invested much time and effort into this lovely cottage.
The owners have invested much time and effort into this lovely cottage. There are many old and quirky features along with the new. Tasteful lighting; good wall pictures; nice furniture & decorations. There was even a pint of milk in the fridge and a basket of duck eggs on the table. The bathroom is big and very modern; the kitchen likewise and the dining room, bedrooms and the sitting room are equally well-appointed, cosy and comfortable. The only down-side to the cottage is its proximity to a main road. The lorries do rather rattle the windows, although this was less noticeable in the twin bedroom. Since I am reviewing the cottage and not the traffic, ten out of ten seems to be in order.

Ideal for walks from the front door.
Ideal for walks from the front door. Comfortable and cozy, well appointed cottage. Although not mentioned in the specification, the fridge does have a small ice box. Essential for ice for the odd g and t......
Other people have mentioned the busy road, we did not find this to be a problem but some might find it noisy.
Sufficient cutlery and crockery, kitchen equipment etc.
Many thanks for the welcome pack. It might only seem a small thing but is a lovely touch.
Would love to come back and thoroughly recommend.
