About this property

Ambrose Cottage Castlemaine

You will enjoy our warm and cosy 1850's, one-bedroom miners cottage; complete with supremely comfortable queen bed, colour TV's, a library of books, games, DVD's and videos, and a private BBQ set in our colourful cottage garden. Of course there is reverse cycle split system air conditioning; as well as off street, covered parking.

There is a full kitchen, including microwave oven, full cooking range, dishwasher, crockery/cutlery/glassware, and some cooking implements. Also a coffee machine. A full laundry is also available for your convenience.

After a busy day out enjoying the many features of historic Castlemaine, (especially since we are located centrally to many of Castlemaine's fine historic homes and CBD, and only 5 mins walk from Castlemaine's wonderful ‘Buda’ homestead), you may choose to enjoy a quiet and cosy night in, relaxing in our antique claw foot bath or listening to our selection of CDs or DVD’s.

Come and enjoy all that Castlemaine has to offer whilst enjoying your comfortable, affordable, private accommodation in a very convenient central location.

Companion Pets are welcome and the rear yard can be secured. Please give us details when booking.

Nice little relaxing and cosy property. It had everything that we needed for our stay. It was pet friendly, which was great. Our little dog loved it as much as we did. The hosts were very nice and had great communication. We would definitely recommend this little place if you want a relaxing break. It’s also a great and easy commute to Castlemaine and surrounding areas.

Back Again

Third annual stay at Ambrose Cottage. A quaint miner's house with everything you could want, including provision for a pet. Good walks nearby and a short drive to all of Castlemaine's attractions.

Everything you would need was provided plus a lot of extras, such as dog bowls, leads and poo bags, bird seed for the bird feeder, cleaning cloths for the BBQ and lots more little details to make life easier.

Winter weekend break

The cottage was cute and cosy and well-supplied. Easy 10 minute walk to town and also handy for the botanic gardens and mill market. We really enjoyed our stay and the hosts were extra helpful and posted my phone charger to me when I realised I had left it behind

A cute little miners cottage in a very convenient area close to the centre and very quiet. Everything was provided for us to use and the whole house exceptionally clean. A nice large back yard for our dog to investigate. Very enjoyable

Little cottage

We loved this little cottage, very cozy and accommodating to our needs. I was a little wary of the step from the lounge into the kitchen as well as getting in out of the shower. Definitely not the place for someone with mobility issues. Enjoyed our stay

Difficult to use shower

Photos and description do not show the bathroom fully as bath and shower are combined in clawfoot tub and are listed separately. I was not able to access the bath during our stay. There is also a deep step down to the kitchen and bathroom area. Lighting is also dim and there needs to be a light over the stove so you can see what you are cooking on the back plate.

Cosy, convenient and welcoming

Thank you for a delightful stay. The property was tidy and thoughtfully arranged with everything that might be required, from a dog leash to coffee pods and an electric blanket. I really appreciate that pets were allowed and the property is so suitable with space in the enclosed yard to bring a pet without worrying about them. I would certainly recommend this property for anyone who likes creature comforts and bringing their own creatures! Completely practical and perfect! Thanks again very much.

Little gem close to the best Castlemaine has to offer

The cottage was ideal for our stay, being walking distance to the centre of Castlemaine, the Mill precinct and local reserves. Inside, the cottage is cosy with all the amenities you could want for a very comfortable stay. Beautiful linens and thoughtful touches enhanced the experience. Communication with our hosts was friendly and prompt. I would highly recommend Ambrose Cottage as a base from which to explore Castlemaine and its surrounds.

Awesome Cottage in Awesome location

Charming. Loved this cottage from the moment we got there to the moment we left. All home comforts. Close to town centre. Close to Botanical Gardens. Great street/location ambience. Secure yard for our dogs. Small touches like night light located on step down into kitchen and a bird feeder with stock of bird seed. Property is what description says it is.
