Henrietta's country house, luxury couple's retreat
Henrietta's is grand Art Deco home, one of only two original substantial redbrick houses built in Chewton. Recently rescued and restored as an original beauty, with a sandstone fireplace, grand front porch with serene views across the valley, polished floorboards, leadlight windows and beautiful indoor spa bath. Reverse cycle heating/cooling, Gas log fireplaces, beautiful gardens and outdoor bbq/entertaining area. A fully functioning kitchen with coffee machine and essential cooking provisions is provided. An eclectic mix of antique persian rugs, oriental artworks, empire style furnishings, bespoke bathroom mural and high art deco ceilings make for an elegant and fascinating visual experience.
Immediately nearby there are walking tracks through forests with abundant wildlife, goldfields and historical sites. Discover antique stores in Chewton, and Henrietta's is only a 5 minute drive to Castlemaine and the cafe/foodie/arts/events always on offer year round. Visit the Wesley Hill Market on a Saturday morning and cook up a storm in the fully appointed kitchen. An ideal weekend retreat from the noise of the city!
Named for the lady the house was built for early last century, Henrietta's sits atop a site rich in Goldfields history. Over a hundred and fifty years ago the location was reputedly home to a surgeon, a pub, a Cobb & Co depot and a couple of other small titles. Numerous archeological curious have been unearthed in the gardens over the years, from fob watches to oriental currency, and can be found on display around the house.
Henrietta's offers pet-friendly and adults only luxury accommodation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. Great location, beautifully restored/renovated house & spotlessly clean. We will happily re-book for our next stay in the district
The property was spotless, very well maintained and equipped with everything we and our dog could desire! Contact with host was prompt and courteous - we would highly recommend Henrietta's.
Beautifully presented property with many thoughtful touches for guests. Wonderful garden with landscaped rear area and BBQ.Spent many delightful evenings outside enjoying a wine or two as dusk settled.
What a beautiful house and piece of history From the floorboards to the ornate ceilings, the well stocked fridge and ease of everything A definite home away from home but with a lot more art deco class
Second time at Henriettas. Love the decir, the area, how clean the house is and that it is so dog friendly.Very well set up with everything we needed including ample breakfast provisions.

Thankyou for being wonderful guests Phoebe! I am very happy you enjoyed your stay. Safe travels, Kerri
The house is gorgeous. The host has created a real homage to its history, but blended with modern comfort. If you're visiting as a tourist to The Goldfields, you'll find it perfectly situated. We found that our host had thought of everything we could possibly need and responded swiftly to any queries.
Brilliant presentation by Kerri at Henrietta's for our special Anniversary!. Everything is so close to the location and hard to beat in so many ways. We arrived to a super warm house with 🔥🍷fires on and the spa sooo tempting 😄✔️
My partner was very impressed by the Art Deco interior & the cleanliness of the property. We felt very comfortable & enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for a great week.
Spacious period home with modern kitchen and bathroom. Tastefully decorated and furnished. Super comfy beds. Good WiFi. Great to sit on the front balcony or at rear of property. Only a few minutes from Castlemaine, and around half hour to Daylesford and Bendigo. Property located opposite bush land with walking trails.Very peaceful stay.
Henrietta’s is a gorgeous cosy comfy cottage with everything you could possibly want/need for your stay. It was scrupulously clean and stocked with lots of lovely touches like breakfast foods, chocolates by the beds, lovely bathroom products, books and games, the list goes on. Very comfy beds with electric blankets if it’s a chilly night. Our host, Kerri, was a pleasure to deal with. We’ll definitely be back.
Very much enjoyed our stay. Had everything you could need and more including generous breakfast provisions. We were lucky with the weather so out furbabies could enjoy the wonderful garden with us as we sat outside and relaxed. The place has a secure fencing and the dogs were very safe there. The RedHill pub has new management so really enjoyed out dinner there and I would also recommend the Midland Bar restaurant if you want something more upmarket. A very nejoyable stay!
The home had all that you would need to have to arrive at any time. There was milk, butter, juice, bread, coffee, and tea.
Plus all the items you would expect to find in your own home.

Gorgeous Stay
Our stay at Henrietta’s was gorgeous. Kerri met us and showed us around telling us stories of the place and how it came to be. Pretty amazing history and effort to get it back to looking so fine. They place is so comfortable, clean and luxurious. Really enjoyed the bathroom, the bathrobes and plentiful towels and especially the spa. I want that spa. Could spend days on the porch on the huge, comfortable couch for taking in the sunset over the valley. We breakfasted in Castlemaine but cooked our dinners in the kitchen. Loved the benchtop, wow. In all, exactly what we needed for our weekend getaway, thankyou!

We had really nice stay at Henrietta's. This place felt like home. It has everything for you and your furry friend. We will definitely be staying there again.
Really well put together - warm, clean, well appointed kitchen, modern bathroom. Our only negative, found the furniture and beds a little uncomfortable.
