About this property
Island Chalet on Kangaroo Island
A spacious 3 bedroom house in a bush setting with complete privacy, just a 2 minute walk from the beach. The cottage is architect-designed with a cathedral ceiling and open plan living room. Two large queen-size bedrooms open onto the garden. Upstairs is an attic/loft bedroom. There is free wifi (NBN), a library, satellite TV and board games.
The cottage is set in a large bush garden with grassy area perfect for kids to play and a setting for eating outside. There is a gas barbecue. Blue wrens, red-browed finches and other birds are constant visitors to the garden. For this reason, although our accommodation is dog-friendly, we do not welcome cats.
Only 2 minute's walk away, across a park is the beach. It is calm and safe for small children to play and beautiful to take long walks along each morning.
On the edge of the beach, a path for walking or cycling surrounded by native bush, follows the coast around, leading 3 km into Kingscote where you can get good coffee and breakfast /lunch, one block up from the beach. On the way you pass the sailing club which has a great beach for swimming. A little further on you come to a park with a tidal pool, lawn and picnic areas. This is a great place for the whole familly to swim. Alternative you can fish for whiting and tommy ruffs from the rocks at the out edge.
Fishing is also great from the Kingscote jetty . You can get bait from the hardware shop, one block up from the beach.
Down the road from the cottage is the Kingscote Golf Course. You can get picked up from the cottage or Kingscote for all of the tours to the southern beaches, Flinders Chase and other attractions
Island Chalet is great for the perfect family holiday on Kangaroo Island!

Host gave us all the necessary information. Amenities were all very good, although I would have liked a mirror in the upstairs bedroom. Location was excellent.

Thank you for your comments and great suggestion Margaret. We will definitely place a mirror in the upstairs bedroom!
Host had excellent communication. The chalet was very clean and comfortable thank you.Just a maintenance issue, the shower/bath fills up with water around your ankles so the drain may need a clean. Also, the bed in the right-side bedroom was very hard so suggest a new mattress or a mattress topper for a more comfortable sleep.Everything else was fantastic, thanks again.

Thanks for the heads-up re those issues - we'll attend to those straightaway. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise!
We absolutely loved our stay, the house is super clean and very well set up with all the basics you might need in the kitchen. It worked well for our family of five and I would definitely stay here again.
A beautiful cottage in a quiet location. Set back from the road the cottage has a quiet location, perfect to relax. The rooms were clean and tidy and had every amenity you could need. The kitchen had everything you could think of. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely quiet property, fit for purpose ( sleep/rest & eat while driving daily to all sights) books, games dvds- nicely kitted out kitchen, comfy sofa and good hot water supply.
Island chalet was perfect for us. Spacious, clean and everything we could wish for was there. Beds were comfy, the living space was big and the kitchen was well equipped! We felt right at home. Carole was a welcoming host! Highly recommend!

Thank you for your review Janice. We are very glad you enjoyed your time with us!
Beautiful location, quiet, relaxing. The accommodation is perfect - everything you need. Close to Kingscote for shopping. Easy access to other areas of the island. 10/10
The house was welcoming and so quiet, there was also no light pollution at night, which was perfect for us, we also loved the gardens. It is perfectly situated for heading into Kingscote and anywhere on the east coast of the Island. The descriptions and photos are accurate. Everything we needed, equipment wise, was provided for us. We didn't need to contact the owners but felt they would have been there if we had needed too. We highly recommend staying here.
A very warm and cozy house in a lovely, relaxing environment. Easy to walk to the beach and conveniently close to Kingscote where shops, cafes and restaurants are located. Nice, large and well equipped kitchen for at-home cooking.
Absolutely beautiful place, so perfect for our fur son who had a wonderful time exploring the garden and watching wrens with us. We are repeat visitors and look forward already to our next stay.
The property had everything you needed for a comfortable stay even a resident Koala in the garden. Good location for exploring the island. One criticism would be that the trees need cutting back on the driveway as quite difficult to get in and out.
