Stone Edge South cottage Castlemaine was absolutely fabulous!! A credit to Jackie & David who have presented a beautiful cottage setting. The open fire place in the cottage bedroom on a rainy evening capped off a relaxing wonderful stay. We will definitely be returning in the future.
This was our second stay at Stone Edge so that should be an indication of how much we like it.
Great location, fantastic hosts in Jackie and David, very comfortable facilities
Fabulous location, quiet, walking distance to the botanic gardens. Jackie and David were so generous and hospitable. I had a lovely stay, the cottage was lovely.
We loved staying here - the design elements and comfort, open fire and superb breakfast make this a very special place to stay. Thank you Jackie & David for your thoughtfulness and generous heart.
We went away for 2 nights and decided to stay another! It was so relaxing - we had everything we needed at our fingertips including delicious breakfasts - and the ambiance was a wonderful to unwind to. We would highly recommend Stone Edge and will be back next time we are in town. Loved it!!
Perfect getaway. All boxes ticked, location, comfy bed , super clean , great vibe and unexpected beautiful breakfast. If you think Castlemaine maybe then think definitely..
We absolutely loved staying at Stone Edge Cottage. The cottage was stunning and very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided including yummy bread, cheese, fruit, coffee and breakfast goodies. Castlemaine and Bendigo are great towns with lots to see and enjoy. Thankyou Jackie for you care in renovating the cottage and making it available.
This cottage was absolutely wonderful. Warm, cosy, comfortable and homely. Beautifully fitted out and decorated with very tasteful high end fittings/ furnishings. Provisioned with array of lovely eats - all in a beautifully restored genuinely historic stone cottage. Lovely helpful hosts and beautifully peaceful location. Absolutely perfect.
Thank you Jacki & David for sharing such a delightful place to stay…..great location, it was comfortable, warm & a surprise to find all the edible treats! We wanted for nothing!
The property itself is lovely stone cottage (does what it says on the box). Gardens are lovely. Generous provisions for tea coffee breakfast appreciated. Lovely setting close to bush very quiet. And a massive open fire suitable for whiskey, port or just gazing wistfully. A credit to the builders/owners care and attention to detail
Stone Edge South Cottage was the perfect place for me to spend a few days away to celebrate my birthday. Jackie and David made me feel so welcome and comfortable with nothing more I could have asked for. Food provisions were generous, the cottage lovingly renovated and styled and the comfy bed, play list and open fire were just perfect! Embraced in a beautiful bush setting close to town, Stone Edge has both convenience and relaxing solitude. Thank you Jackie and David for making my stay so memorable and special. I do hope to see you both again.
I highly recommend Stone Edge for accommodation consideration when travelling to Castlemaine or nearby.
Wow wow wow is all I can say. The cottage is in a peaceful setting on the outskirts of Castlemaine, close enough but quiet enough. It is cosy, perfect for two and exquisitely furnished with Chinese/Mongolian antique pieces. Every need is contemplated for by the hostess Jacki. Her communication is amazing and very prompt. Directions are clear so it was easy to find her property on a dark, rainy evening. The bed is extremely comfy and made with beautiful linens. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well provisioned. A sumptuous breakfast with home grown tomatoes with many extra snacks was provided. We had a wonderful restful weekend and will love to visit again.
We had such a wonderful anniversary in the South Cottage. Every detail was delightful and the impeccable but cheerful lodgings are exceedingly comfortable. We won't spoil the treats from the hosts, but evidently all seasons and tastes are well catered for.
The stylish living area/couch is comfortably stacked with cosy cushions to relax, and the adjoining kitchen/meals is well equipped with all the utensils and condiments you need, plus some wonderful fresh produce surprises to make your breakfast sing. The bathroom is beautifully renovated and every amenity is thoughtfully considered.
Stepping up to the oversized ambient bedroom, we loved the music touch on arrival. The bed is super luxurious with more puffy cushions to devour in your sleep.
Our host, Jackie, is incredibly inviting and helpful but unobtrusive, with ideas for restaurants and adventures in Castlemaine. We took the slow pace as it was hot and walked into the Botanical Gardens. We dined at Wild and shopped at an amazing IGA for lunch produce to add to our fresh bread. Sitting on the front deck at dusk was a highlight for us, drinking in the peaceful beauty and native surrounds. There are also private outdoor/shaded pockets to sit but we relished the sun splashed deck.
We enjoyed The Mill, walking around the closed old Castlemaine Gaol (still lots of statues to see for free) and the lovely history of the buildings. So much to see!
We strongly recommend this to others. You can even park close to your cottage.
We visit this area frequently so were surprised we hadn’t encountered this hidden gem before. We were so
Impressed with this property. Beautifully crafted stone cottages with every amenity at your fingertips. Have to add the hosts are the loveliest people. This is now on our regular visit list…magical I came away with the most special souvenir from the garden…Wow!! 🌸😊
We enjoyed the most relaxing break we have had for years.
Our hosts Jackie and David have put together a brilliant package that we were left wanting for nothing.
This property is just gorgeous and everything you would want for a weekend getaway.
The open fire and abundant wood supply make for a cosy atmosphere. The generous welcome basket has all of your breakfast and snack needs covered . The furnishings and toiletries are all extremely tasteful and top notch.
I highly recommend a stay here.
