Homeport is a classic oceanfront New England farmhouse in Bass Harbor just minutes from Acadia National Park. Overlooking a working harbor with fishing boats drifting by, this peaceful retreat comfortable accommodates six guests with three bedrooms and two baths. The first floor features a king bedroom with a private bath and walk in tile shower. A well equipped open concept kitchen and dining opens to a living area with beautiful views. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with two twin beds sharing a second full bath, making the home ideal for families or couples traveling together. A spacious deck at the front of the house faces the harbor and is the perfect spot for morning coffee or unwinding after a day exploring the Island. Guests can watch fishing boats come and go, and enjoy the kayaks and row boat available for your use right from the property. Located just 3 miles from the shops and restaurants of Southwest Harbor and about a 30 minute drive to Bar Harbor, Homeport is an ideal base for exploring Mount Desert Island.

Lovely Quiet Place on the Quietside

We really enjoyed our week in this lovely, quiet place. The views were amazing, the deck was perfect. The inside was very clean and nicely decorated. We slept like babies. We spent a lot of time on the water - a tour, the ferry to Swans Island ... hope to return.

Beautiful house and location

We stayed for a week. The house and location was beautiful. We used the kayaks a few times. We spent most of our time in Acadia NP (~35 minutes depending on which entrance you go to). Also about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor.

Outstanding harbor house!

We all thoroughly enjoyed absolutely everything about this property! Location was fantastic! Just a short trip to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Lots of hiking, great restaurants. View from the deck was wonderful! Kitchen fully equipped, great grill! The one and only thing we can mention are the twin beds in third bedroom....difficult to sleep on.

In addition to our eight rental properties, Steve is a master electrician with 6 or more employees and we operate a real estate firm with 7 agents. Our 2 children are grown and 4 grand children are almost grown. We enjoy boating the Maine coast, kayaking the local waters and walking the trails here on MDI. Our location on the water on the quiet side of MDI is only 25 minutes from the hustle and bustle of down town Bar Harbor on a day when the cruise ships are in. Entrances to the park are within 2 miles and Thurston's for lobster and Back Beach are within 1/2 a mile. The village of SW Harbor is just 3.6 miles from Bernard Rd where you'll find shops, library, banks, Gilley Museum, art shows on the green and restaurants.
