About this property

The Old Potting Shed, Egton Bridge, Yorkshire Coast

The Old Potting Shed is a detached property nestled within the dramatic wild landscape of the North York Moors National Park and surrounded by 6,000 acres of woodland, river, moors, and meadows on the Egton Estate. There are wonderful walks from the doorstep around the Estate, or the Coast to Coast path that runs alongside it. Located just six miles from the popular fishing town of Whitby, this hideaway is also just a short walk from the picturesque Egton Railway Station.

Comfortably sleeping up to four guests, this chocolate box cottage is grade II listed. Set beneath the Estates canopy of ancient trees featuring an extensive garden, wood burning stove and two delightful bedrooms each with their own en-suite. Guests will instantly feel at home from the moment they step foot into the open-plan dining and sitting room with sumptuous seating flanking the wood burning stove. The stairs at one end of the cottage lead to the king-size master bedroom, where the en-suite bathroom with amazing free-standing bath overlooking the gardens to the rear will utterly spoil guests. The second bedroom situated to the other end of the cottage hosts a twin beds (can be converted to a super king size bed on request) and en-suite shower room.

For those who enjoy cooking while on holiday, the well-equipped kitchen has all you need to show off cookery skills and spoil family and friends with a good hearty breakfast before your next adventure, or an impressive feast after a day exploring. Alternatively, for ultimate relaxation leave it to someone else, as just a five-minute walk away the Horseshoe Hotel hosts a outdoor beer garden and barbecue area, and there is a farm shop selling local produce. You can pack up a picnic on a fine day and head to one of many wide sandy beaches from Staithes to Robin Hood's Bay.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in this idyllic location near to the North York Moors. Enjoy fly fishing along the river Esk (which needs to be pre-booked at fishpal.co.uk ). Spend the day exploring the coast or head in land to discover many of the sought-after villages nearby such as Hutton-le-Hole or Helmsley. Harry Potter enthusiasts will love a trip to Pickering to catch the famous steam train on the NYMR.
