We had a great week on Long Pond! We enjoyed the kayak and the small beach. I went in barefoot but my husband would recommend water shoes for any Maine pond. I think we most enjoyed sitting on the porch, sipping a beer or wine, and listening to the ducks, the geese, the loons, and watching the eagle fly by. Long Pond is a quiet lake. Quite a few kayakers and some boat activity (saw a couple jet skis and one group tubing) but most of the time, it is a quiet, “enjoy nature” lake. Many fishermen went by and I saw some children enjoying the water a few cabins down. It’s also located close to several mid Coast tourist towns such as Boothbay, Damariscotta, Nobleboro, Rockland, Rockport, and Camden. One day we took the auto road up Mount Battie in Camden (small fee for this at Camden Hills State Park) and enjoyed the views. We then had lunch and explored a few shops in downtown Camden. It was a simple but a great day out and the views were amazing. Check out the waterfall in downtown Camden! The cottage would easily sleep six, although we were only two. The first two days were exceptionally hot, in the low 90s with high humidity, and the air conditioning was appreciated. The kitchen is very well outfitted and had everything we needed. We had one lunch and one breakfast out, but the rest of the time we enjoyed meals at camp. The Internet was very appreciated, although not as strong as home, but it did make it easy to connect a laptop for email, etc. It was a very nice week. Thank you!
