This was the perfect cottage for our get-away. It was clean and quiet, and the beach was a very short walk away. We visited Acadia, Bar Harbor and several nature reserves. Definitely would stay here again.
We stayed a week within a 5 minute walk of family and friends. The cabin, nestled in the woods, gives us true privacy, and the glass & screened in porch is wonderful place to read, entertain, and enjoy all the sounds of nature. Plenty of room and privacy for the five of us and an excellent layout for bedrooms, living & dining room, and kitchen. We stayed here before and the hosts are wonderful.
We absolutely loved our stay at the property. It is a very rustic house, as shown in pictures, but it was very clean. It is an easy drive to Acadia and bar harbor. The house was well stocked. Easy access to the beach. We hope to be back again next year!
This was our second stay at Crosby Cottage and it truly felt like returning home. The cottage is cozy and charming and the location is perfect. Jane and Michelle were both accommodating and responsive and we truly appreciated that. Hancock Point is a slice of heaven and it is a place we made wonderful memories with our kids and hope to return someday.
This is our 3rd stay at Crosby. We love the location, the quiet and the antique rustic charm. The cabin was super clean at our arrival. I did contact the property manager with a question about the garbage and she answered right away. I’d recommend anyone planning to stay to review the location and the photos.we find it close enough to Acadia, but it’s about a 40 minute drive so take that into consideration. This is a more rustic cabin, but the couch, bed and dining table are comfortable and the linens are soft and fresh. Highly recommend. Coffee by the water across the road is pure serenity!
Wonderful home in the wooded area of Hancock Point. We had all we needed for kitchen supplies and rooms - everything neat and clean. We especially enjoyed Acadia, lobster at Ruth and Wimpy’s, Acadia deep sea fishing, hiking, and the beautiful private beach because of the location! Thank you for sharing this peaceful retreat, Marty and Linda
This is a secluded cabin in the woods with access to the water across the street. You can see the cruise ships visiting Bar Harbor anchored from the beach access. It is approximately 40-45 minute drive into Bar Harbor so we did a lot of driving back and forth. We also visited Bangor and a couple of wineries.
Our family of four (plus grandma!) enjoyed a week at the cottage in the woods. Close enough to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor for day trips, but we spent plenty of time at the private beach and enjoying the quiet relaxation of the peninsula. The sun room is a great reading location and we were fortunate enough to coincide our visit with the opening of the rhododendrons just outside the cottage. The sunsets on the beach were fantastic. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a scenic, quiet, relaxed vacation. The cottage was well stocked and clean when we arrived. The dishwasher made cleanup for meals a snap, and the 2nd toilet (1/2 bathroom) was especially useful with 5 or us visiting for the week.
We stayed here for a week and very much enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage. It has everything for a comfortable and accommodating stay… comfy beds, plenty of kitchen utensils etc, a sunroom full of natural light, games, and more. We loved walking down to the private beach and the kids had an absolute blast at the beach. The location is in striking distance to places like Mount Desert Island and Schoodic Peninsula. We also enjoyed the nearby Tidal Falls. We took multiple walks right from the cabin too and enjoyed the lovely views and peace and quiet away from the crowds. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Jane’s cabin.

lovely quiet house in the woods
This house was clean and well laid out. It had very comfortable beds, great hot water, good kitchen, excellent lighting and a charming wood stove. The owner was very responsive to our inquiries. Because the house is nestled in the woods, it felt very private. Though not on the shore, it is close to it as well as to major attractions in the area. I would certainly recommend this to anyone!
The property was beautiful and extremely quiet and private which is what we were looking for as we were traveling with our dog. We loved having the private beach across the street from us. It was just as described, right around the corner from our cabin. Was perfect for us and our dog likes to swim so that was a plus. We also found water front places to drive to that were about 20 minutes away. Bar Harbor was a 40 minute drive. If your looking for a very peaceful stay without the crowds this would be an excellent place. The caretaker was great and let us know that she was available if we needed her.
This is my second stay at this cabin and it is perfect for those who wish to escape the noise of bar harbor. It is a rustic little cottage with a nice kitchenette. We cooked one meal here and had everything we needed. The extra blankets came in handy on our last day.
It is in a very quiet location with a lot of wildlife. The beach access is very cute and easy to walk to. We watched lobster boats check their traps, cruise ships sail into the harbor, a lot of various birds, other creatures we weren't certain of.. Maybe otters and porpoises. You can see Mount desert Island from shore and it is so serene.
It's a great cabin for pets. My dogs loved the yard and although we saw skunks and porcupines we never had issues.
My husband was able to enjoy sleeping in while my dad and I hunted for sea glass on the beach. What a lovely location.
We enjoyed our stay here we were here for about a week. It is a charming older cabin that does not have a lot of frills. If you need brand new up to date things then look into another place. If you are a person that doesn't mind well loved items then you will not mind staying here. The main bedroom has a hidden gem in it that makes this cabin feel more personal and family oriented than going to some newly built one. The beach access is a short walk down the driveway and across the street.
We loved our cozy home! Two of the highlights were the screen porch and very close access to a beautiful rocky beach. We were on the screen porch any time we were home. And we took our chairs and wine to the beach every evening to watch the sunset. And the location was convenient to all our activities in Acadia National Park. We would definitely stay there again.
We loved having the quiet cottage in the woods be our home base for a week on Hancock Point. What a delight to have the windows open and feel the breeze, have a kitchen with just what you needed for easy vacation meals, and have an easy walk across the quiet road for reading with the most peaceful views of the water and mountains. We hope to return again!
Our family loved this little cottage on Hancock Point. The space was perfect for us. It was charming and comfortable and the kids loved the proximity to the water. Hancock Point is a gem with gorgeous views and friendly people. Easy day trips to the Schoodic and MDI. Would return in a heartbeat.
We love it here; it was our third year and we want to come back next summer too.

Quaint cottage
A cozy cottage in a good location about an hr from Acadia and Bar Harbor. My only complaint is the couch, it’s so discolored we didn’t sit on it once. Oh and the welcome email needs edited to include only the correct lock box code and wifi password. And the fact it talks about the Crocker House for dinner and it’s undergoing a complete renovation. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
This is the perfect rustic cottage with just enough modern amenities. The location is perfect if you are looking for that quiet getaway! I loved being in the woods yet a stones throw to the stone beachfront. We saw many gorgeous sunsets from the beach. The wood stove was a welcome addition on our first night as it was pretty chilly for June and the sunroom was great for relaxing and enjoying the deer that wondered by.
Great property location. What some may call rustic. We really loved it. Comfortable beds, great wood burner, comfey cottage.
Has everything you need. Jane is a great owner and Michelle was very helpful. Had a Foe and her fawn visit. Great Value!

Why they chose this property
My grandfather had this cottage built and it is the cottage we have returned to for almost every summer since I was born.
What makes this property unique
The cottage is very peaceful and private, and yet it's well connected to the rest of Hancock Point with its library, tennis courts and wharf as well as the Crocker House Inn. There are woods for children to play in and space in the yard for croquet games. The cottage also has its own access to the shore, with a two-seater Adirondack chair just above the beach (with great views of the mountains of Acadia National Park) and then wooden stairs down to the beach. On the beach to the left, our family's main beach, there's a big rock that becomes an island or a ship when the tide is in, and there's also a reef full of tide pools with crabs, snails and starfish in them, so it's great fun for children. There is a sandy area great for sand building sand castles and cities. We love it.
