About the host

My wife and I and daughter and son are the stewards for Cottage at Indian Point or commonly know locally as Uncle Toms Cabin. Dating back to my great grandfather Thomas C Higgins a store keeper in Bar Harbor that sold to the Rockefellers and Fords, my grandfather Thomas C Higgins II a civil engineer that built many stone bridges in ANP, my uncle Thomas C Higgins III librarian , all from Bar Harbor, Me. Permit 1741.
Why they chose this property
We have this unique gem on Mount Desert Island overlooking Western Bay to Blue Hill that has been in my family dating 1802. The property is located along the ocean front at Indian Point in Town Hill Maine. For years this rustic cottage was used as an artist retreat that has allowed them to be inspired. Many visitors have commented that "we can not wait to get back to camp from other parts of the island" to enjoy the afternoon and evening sunsets. This is why my ancestors have held on to this property.
What makes this property unique
6 acres shorefront to explore with tidal pools and rock bluffs at low tide.
Large seal colony where many pups are born and raised in April.
Abundant wildlife as deer and water fowl.
A wonderful beach for kayak put in or swimming.
