Little to no communication after repeated messages sent to managers / host after checkin. Bathroom - sink damaged, shower needed cleaning. Bedrooms - too bright with outside lights on all night with no ability to turn them off. Curtains were not lightproof. No WiFi in kitchen or back bedroom. Washer / Dryer included in listings but located in backyard shed for all to use in unit. No storage in bedrooms, bathroom.

This was a disappointing and depressing experience. There is only parallel street parking. Sometimes one is lucky and can park near the building and sometimes not. Our last evening we had to park 2 blocks away. The pictures make the place appear light and bright. It is not. It is dark. Entry is into the kitchen with one dull overhead lighted. There are dull mismatched lamps on a mantle. There is no living space. To the left is a bedroom with one window facing Magazine. The window coverings are cheap and water stained offering little coverage and noise reduction from street traffic. To the right of the kitchen you go up one step to a second bedroom and one bath with the same cheap thin drapes. The bath vanity is coming apart and the TP holder is falling off the wall. There was hair and some splatter on the bathroom wall. Grout in the shower was not clean. The bed sheets were some bad man made fiber I couldn’t identify. My bedside light was broken. In the kitchen the dishes on open shelves were dirty. Not just dusty but dirty with food on them. The plates are old and cracked. Utensils look like they just came from a frat house. The freezer is rusted and there is no ice maker or ice trays. You are unable to set the AC lower than 73. This is New Orleans for god’s sake. Overall it was depressing and dark. We only used it to sleep and I dreaded returning to it at night. I wasn’t expecting the Ritz. I also didn’t expect dirty, stained, and depressing.

Maybe you will study the photos more closely than I did, but let me just call out for you that there is no living space. You will walk through one of the bedrooms to access the bathroom. This was fine for our group but is not fine for every group. While I'm on the bathroom, there was no bathmat and only one towel rack. A few hooks would go a long way. I dried my towel on a wire hanger over a doorknob. The shower stall is mildewed and the bathroom sink has such a slow water flow that I washed my face and brushed my teeth in the kitchen. This is a kitchen appropriate for eating a bowl of cereal. It is not a kitchen appropriate for cooking and eating meals. The stove has no exhaust fan and windows are all painted shut. Doors go to an interior hallway so whatever you cook, you will smell for days after. There are exactly 3 plates. It was cold at night while we were there and we discovered you could feel the heat in one bedroom but not in the other. The only curtains are sheer so you will be up as soon as the sun rises or whenever your upstairs neighbor starts walking around, whichever comes first. Even with portable white noise machines that I always bring on trips, I could hear footsteps above us. Sorry to say that these are not accommodations for grown ups. My husband called it a frat house. I think hostel would be more accurate, but either way, it was primitive. The TV never turned on and the host did not respond.

You have to walk through the rear bedroom to access the bathroom, so if you are staying with other guests they will have to cut through your sleeping space. The sink in the bathroom drained extremely slowly as the drain stopper barely opens. There were fleas in the rear bedroom, which we did not notice until AFTER we stayed our first night! We woke up to bites on our feet and ankles, and they got in our suitcase that was on the floor next to the bed. When we contacted the host about this, they were initially very quick to respond, they stated that they needed to verify fleas were in the apartment through their cleaning crew. We took photos of the multiple fleas on our person, the floor, and even left out the cup of soapy water we were using to kill them every time we picked one off of ourselves. We attempted to follow up with the host multiple times through the VRBO app and through the phone number provided by the host, and had no further communication other than the original message about the cleaning service going to the location. Multiple VRBO messages asking for follow-up information as well as phone calls with no response even after we had to head home was a very frustrating end to an already chaotic trip.

There were fleas and the property manager chose not to compensate us when I let him know and we were forced to leave and find different lodgings. When I politely asked to be returned the money from the night we didn’t stay he ghosted me.
